Waiting for someone in the comments to... CHERRY PICK... the features of this set.

$60 and 726 pieces. Pretty good deal. Today, this would be a $99 set just because they could.

You know, I'd really like to see a Technic "Snorkel" type fire truck. We really haven't had a true one, and it wouldn't take much work over the design used here. Mechanically, the same basic designs of the platform are the same--using the same Sky Lift type design.

Awww... it's 42031 all grown up!

But wait... does that mean we'll get an orange version of this to complement 42088?

This was a great medium-sized introductory set to technic mechanisms, designed by Nathanael Kuipers. You could raise/lower the boom or rotate it in either direction, all with a single motor. Of course, it’s not very impressive by today’s standards, but it served as a well designed, playable toy that excelled at its primary function of showcasing the relatively new (at the time) power functions system.

Old-ish Technic... not bad, even though I rarely get this theme.

By in Croatia,

60$ seems like a pretty good deal for this set! If it were released nowdays, it would probably be around 100$.

“Not a bad set, I just wish LEGO would stop slapping the technic branding on the build. You don’t have to apply the sticker, but if they “have to” do it, can they at least put it on the bottom?"

I love whenever they slap the technic logo somewhere. It’s so goofy and stupid so I find it really great whenever they manage to put it on.

One of my best value purchases, as unusual for a medium sized set included a motor and battery box rather than having to pay extra to add-on later. There was a useful clutch gear so that you could switch the same motor between lifting or rotating. This opened up the creativity to motorisation with double functionality, starting with the model B dumper truck. This was rather unusual in that you were given two large 8x16 smooth tile plates so that you could make the floor of the open bed box, even though they were not needed in the model A (check that these are included when buying 2nd hand). The neutral yellow, black, grey colour scheme also made it easy to combine with next years Front loader 8265, or the previous years motorized bulldozer 8275 giving over 3000 pieces of creativity.

I got it, but only one 6x16 plate
