This set is completely ridiculous and I love it.
And that's why the human kingdoms build castles on hilltops surrounded by moats.
2008 was an interesting time for my friends and I, and this set fits right in. I had two friends from pretty wealthy families, so between the 3 of us, we had most every set out that year. I still remember my friend showing me this one, and we couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it was - ridiculous and awesome!
Many a time while stuck in traffic, I have fantasized about rolling over cars in my own Troll Battle Wheel.
What an interesting set.
The wheel design looks identical to the one in 4183 The Mill!
I did not know this set existed before today, but man, do I love it!
Beautifully over-engineered.
That copper colour is so under-used.
"WAAAGH!"
Oh LEGO. What a wonderful thing indeed.
Great set. Epitomized creativity/playability, which would become a hallmark of the sorely underappreciated Fantasy Era sets. I always viewed this set as a "transition" set from the Fantasy Era Skeletons to Fantasy Era Trolls, owing to the fact that the troll captain's chestplate has a skeleton on it. Excellent source of flat silver spears as well.
I'll say it louder for the people in the back: Bring back Castle!
Yeah, this is interesting...
I remember seeing this set and wondering “How could this thing keep the driver’s station up?”
I found out later in set photos that it has a giant handle on the back that lets you roll it around and “park” it. It’s all about that camera angle!
I never owned this set, but I have vivid memories of seeing it in the LEGO catalog and being intrigued and baffled at the same time..
One of, if not the, best sets to come out of this Fantasy Era Castle line.
It looks like a very fitting battle wheel for the Troll army. I just checked the instructions and the handle with the trigger is an awesome idea. I'm guessing lots of kids had fun with this set shooting them poor soldiers.
Fantasy era was great, wish I picked this up at the time.
You might think this is not really a practical battle weapon...
...but that's how we roll
I miss castle :(
You know it’s rolling backwards right now.
I think the knights are gonna need some bigger spears...
I just noticed it's supposedly powered by two trolls that are literally running on top of the wheels! It's so unrealistic and ridiculous, I love it!

But what about the people and their possessions as well the potential pets? Other than that, this set surely is wacky and awesome for that, imagine the poor LEGO knight's facing these in battle.
That's awesome! They don't make sets like this any more - but they should...
This set came out exactly when I was getting out from my Dark Ages. I got many of those Castle Sets on this wave, but I've missed this one... :(
Regrets...
Glad the wheels where made of individual 48 black and 16 grey links back then, rather than just two large solid plastic motor cycle rims . The fireball on the image is a large blunt arrow 4299625, which you fired from the handle. Interesting this also appeared in the space police, star wars, aqua raiders and bat-mobile sets at the time. So this must of being the first historical occurrence of the arrow.

YES!! Bring back Castle, I miss it so much..
This must have past me by, cos if I’d seen it I woulda bought it.
I love this set. Just the sheer originality of it. We've had siege towers before but we've never had one that was on two giant wheels being pushed along by two guys on top desperately holding on and pushing their feet. That poor knight in front is right to be running in terror!
2008 was incredible, Lego had a theme for every interest, I would like Lego to still do that.
Lego probably did all of those themes because of its 50th anniversary.
This might as well be one of the most creative concepts LEGO has ever made into a set! It's so ridiculous, yet so cool at the same time. I love it!
That was an era of fantastic minifigures and totally messed up builds!
I love this thing and all of it's OSHA violations.
I have this one. Love the Trolls from Fantasy Era. One of the last great Castle themes.
As ridiculous as this may seem, it's actually not too far off from a real World War II-era invention. Behold, The Great Panjandrum!

I'd say I miss Fantasy Era, but the latest wave of Ninjago has us covered!
Not a bad set. It looks very wierd, ridiculous, and stupid, but somehow it's just not a bad set
Trolls. On a giant smashing hamster wheel. This has to be the best battle weapon of all time.
I'm not a castle builder, but I snapped up all of these inspired troll-and-dwarf fantasy castle sets. This period around 2008–11 was the best time to be a Lego fan since the late eighties. Trolls! Dwarfs! Space Police III! Farm! City vehicles! Modular buildings! Agents! Pirates! It was one brilliant and groundbreaking set after another—sets I would have loved to play with when I was young.
Now that licensing has almost completely taken over the product line, I find very few mass-market sets that interest me. The Lego Movie 2 was a bright spot; otherwise, it's mostly bulk purchases for me.
All those fantasy era sets were extremely crazy but awesome. They are way better than people say they are and I will always love those awesome sets.
@Chouju_X_SPAM_:
I read that as Amy Wong from Futurama. On one of the commentary tracks, the producers revealed that they made Lauren Tom record a new one every time it came up in a script (which was at least a few times each season), but they always reused the very first one because they liked it so much. And apparently they never told her they were doing this.
