Interesting... the forklift fork things used for the runners aren't in the set inventory.

It's an older set. If the inventory comes directly from Lego, old pieces, prints, or colors tend to get left out.

I think Brickset parts lists on the site are mostly only showing current parts in production. The forklift parts are probably discontinued. Complete parts lists for most sets can be found on bricklink.

I have never wanted a random set of the day more!

Yeah... I guess it’s a sleigh.

I didn't know the Adventures ever traveled to the mountains.

Dr. Kilroy with leather gloves. If I had seen this set, I'ld get it just for Dr. Kilroy...

Feeling really nostalgic for the adventures theme. This theme together with Alpha Team, Knights Kingdom and Bionicle domiated my cildhood :D

Yep, Orient Expedition - They take to the Himalayas

Oh hey, another set that I had ^^

Actually, I got this one kinda just because. I was buying small Christmas presents for a couple of my friends from school who were, while not *obsessed* as I was, still low-key Lego fans, and naturally turned to the small £1.99 Orient Expedition sets... and Woolworths (a store chain I still miss, honestly) had them on a buy-two-get-one-free offer.
-
Naturally, I was inclined to take advantage of the offer, since I was buying two of them anyway. I got one of each, and chose this one for myself mainly because I didn't have this version of Dr. Kilroy - unlike the minifigures in the other two sets.
-
There's not really a lot to say about the set itself, though. It is what it says it is, and the build is decent, if simple. It felt a bit underwhelming to me, at the time; though I'm not sure how much else I expected from a thirty-piece set! It well served its purpose as a low price-point filler, though ^^

Looks great, but very direly needs the huskies from the Arctic sets a couple years back as sled dogs. Seems odd without a team.

Who needs huskies when you have a giant propeller mounted on your sleigh? ;)

Pretty recently we had a Random Set of The Day based on Fantasy Era and I talked about how the new Ninjago wave covered that market, ironically it also covers the buildable board game market from Orient Expedition!

I always wanted the India sets from this collection, especially for the elephants. Unfortunately, the sets with elephants are the only ones to go through serious inflation on the secondhand market.

Himalayas Dr Kilroy is definitely my favorite version of the character. I’m partial to Himalayas Johnny Thunder too, but I think the best version of him has to be the Lego Movie version.
