By in United States,

This is a really weird box image. Why is it the back of the model?

This was one of the few sets released that year I could afford to buy as a kid. I was so proud of those 25 pieces and 1 minifigure. That minifig still has a special place among the hundreds that I have now!

2002...I never understood why lego used a date only 9 years in the future. But in 1993, it SEEMED like a long time away for some reason.

I remember getting this for Christmas when I was little. Such a fun vehicle.

This randomly is the only pre-1997 non-town set that any of my siblings had.

This isn’t just a tunneller, it’s a tunnellATOR!

Also, Orange Transparent Chainsaw is always great.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz would be so proud.

Is that salt or sugar for the snow?

Ice Planet 2002 had probably one of the best color schemes LEGO has ever used in a line of sets.

Ice Planet makes me happy in a way that only Adventurers can normally manage. I like this.

Absolutely! I don’t know why (maybe I’m biased, orange is my favourite colour), but I feel like it’s such a different colour scheme to everything else that it works so well!

Ice Planet! How can you not love the neon orange chainsaws?

@Mr__Thrawn: Pictured here is the manual. The box art is different.

By in Russian Federation,

One of best themes of CLASSIC Space.

As for snow/ice - I suppose it was a real thing: real snow and ice.

By in United Kingdom,

I never did own any Ice Planet sets - I was only one or two years old when it came out, though, sooooo maybe there's a reason for that! - but I had a few of the minifigure pieces from various other places. Most notably, I have one of the helmets and a pair of skis, from the Mystic Mountain Time Lab, which I think was my first introduction to Ice Planet pieces.

I've found the theme fascinating ever since I learned about it, though. Definitely my favourite of Classic Space ^^

That makes more sense

By in United States,

This set has the distinction of being the last "pre-dark age" set I got. I found the figure recently when I was cleaning up my old Lego for my son and I didn't recognize it, I thought maybe it had been my brother's or something. I looked up the pieces and found this set, I'm guessing that I got this in my stocking for Christmas 1993 even though I had moved on to other interests by then and I probably built it but never really played with it, hence why I didn't remember it. It looks like a really cool theme though.

Ahh, my very very first set! How I love it still!

@crankybricks:
Blacktron I. Now, if you can't listen to reason, there's no hope for you. Still, it was definitely better than M-Tron...

@natro220:
Well, at the time, there was a certain sci-fi story that was still pretty famous that this beat by one year...

@GHED:
It doesn't look like any of those options. Most likely it's sand, or something else that you probably wouldn't want to ingest. You know, something that's not going to melt at room temperature, or get sticky or make a mess if it's not kept moisture-free.

Ice Planet was the first theme that I collected every single set. For me, it all started with this one. I always loved those orange elements.

Same! I was just old enough to be able to earn a little money, all of that went to Lego.

The magnet usage for moving rockets around really made this theme fun to play with! Ice-Sat V is one of the best small-medium sets in my book.

If that was the case, it would be Tunnelinator, not just Tunnelator.
