Came to make a joke about this, but they got me with this one. That puppy is indeed playful.

Only 4 sets in one whole year?

By in Australia,

It's a pre-Friends Friends set.

Ok, this is truly bizarre coincidence. I just opened and built an old copy of this set a few hours ago (before I saw this post).

I'd bought it for a niece years ago but didn't end up giving it to her… so when I moved recently and we found it up on the shelf of LEGO to give out as gifts I decided to add it to my collection. And then today when I got bored waiting for some software updates to install I pulled it out and built it.

I like that smaller dog mould.

This was among the only Belville sets I ever saw, when I visited the Roanoke TRU for one of the like 3-4 times I ever did in my lifetime.

The dog may be out of minifig scale, but the pup can easily fill-in for an adult dog at minifig scale. The brush is so un-LEGO. Reminds me of the brushes that used to come with inexpensive flocked toy horses from the dollar store; which my folks used to buy me before I got into Breyer when we got a Tractor Supply in 2006.

By in Turkey,

This seems like a useful set, it can even be used with either friends or the city set. And released more than a decade ago...

That puppy is taking this set to a... whole. ‘nother. level!

That rosette piece is pretty nifty, I could see it getting a lot of use in modern sets if it were still around

By in Croatia,

Nice little set, I like both of the dog molds.

By in Australia,

I believe my cousin had this, although she sold most of her LEGO a few years ago so it’s hard to be sure.

It’s actually a surprisingly good Belville set IMHO.

By in Germany,

This looks so totally like a Friends set. Perfect fit.
Nice assortment of basic bricks and slopes too. Come to think of it, almost the entire set is made up of basic old school parts.

By in Switzerland,

My daughter has really like and play with these colorful sets, but it was the end of the Belville theme.
It was different from the fairy, castle and princess world from the years before.

The colour of the dogs + the texture of the dogs

"Playful puppy" has better accommodations than most of LEGO City.

The larger dog never appeared in any other set, and the puppy was also discontinued together with two sets with horses which never appeared again, although the plastic texture was a little strange compared to the usual hard plastic for animals.

One or both of these dogs appeared in the LEGO Island video game! (Shape, not color, that is.) I’m fond of both for that reason, and because I like LEGO animal molds - in much the same the spirit of the recent series of articles featured on Brickset. I like to think the larger one is a Great Dane or a mastiff.

Would never guessed this is a Belville set since the only indication is the presence of the minidoll but it is absence in this set.
