By in United States,

I loved this theme, but I never picked up any.

One of my favorite sets! Unfortunately my copy's fallen apart and most of it's rubber spikes the dogs got a hold of, but I hope to restore it someday. That drill play feature was awesome!

Oh, I loved this guy. He wasn't just a supervillain, he was a giant monster. That was so cool.

Love this set, had a lot of fun with this one back in the day

By in Netherlands,

Those wedge rock parts are just awesome, many colors been made since.

Oh man! I remember seeing this in the catalog when it was new and immediately asking for it for my (then-upcoming) birthday! One of the best sets I had as a kid.

Known for his iconic appearance in The Adventures of Clutch Powers

I bought this with the intention of using the monstery parts to make a bigger, better monster...and never even got started on it.

By in Canada,

Woo-hoo, check out that Zastee beast:D...I'm gonna' get dragged here; but: If they did something similar, and changed out the transgreen for transpuple and transblue...this would have been cool for 3rd year Nexo Knights.

No, think about it: Mechs, vehicles, and 'men' (ok, soldiers...happier:)) vs. Monsters like this would have been perfect for the 'Rock' season of that series...oh, what could have been...

By in New Zealand,

Has a great dentistry feel to it.

By in United States,

Love this theme and especially this set. As a kid I used to have him attack my city sets Godzilla style; the police and the power miners would have to team up to defeat him

By in United States,

I just acquired someone's collection of LEGO that includes the instruction manuals of about a dozen Power Miners sets (the parts are in there...somewhere), including this one. I hadn't heard much about this line until last week. Huwbot, as always you have excellent timing.

Same, although my spikes aren't much worse for wear. I've been going on a huge marathon of rebuilding sets from when I was younger, this one might be next...

Yeah, exactly, this is what Bionicle COULD have been!

Imagine if they'd gone down this beautiful System road instead of the pseudo-Technic\CCBS route...

No, it's actually great that they decided to go the Technic/CCBS route... it's just that most people just haven't actually tried it for themselves.

I recently made a Revamp MOC of the Crystal King set, using a mixture of System and CCBS pieces, and it looks great:

You know despite all the various beasties Lego has done over the years, I think this guy still stands out as fairly original. There’s not been too many big old rock monsters, certainly none with the articulation of the King up there

Such a great theme. My son still has most of them, this one included, and we had great fun playing with them all when he was little. The Rock King brings back particularly fond memories - raaaaarhhhhhhh!!!!

Whats with the dynamite not very friendly why to introduce yourself? The 'rock head maxi' piece with fine teeth looks like it had lots of potential, shame it only ever appeared in this set. When I see those spikes lots of alternative spaceship designs come to mind but were discontinued soon after.

By in Germany,

This theme was so awesome, now that I'm getting out of my (not very long, but still existent) dark ages, I'm kinda tempted to get some themes, including this, to completion.

For me, a key part of getting bionicles as a kid was due to the affordable price. System built figures would be nice and all, but they would undoubtedly cost at least twice as much for roughly the same size. They'd be a lot more fragile to boot.

By in Australia,

*sigh* why did I only collect City and a bit of creator back in the day? I really want some of these Power Miners sets now!

By in Turkey,

Wow, brutal set! Is that rock monster going to eat the guy?

By in United States,

Loved this theme! My wife-to-be got me one of these for our first Valentine’s Day together. That’s when I knew she was a keeper!

And was implied to be a she.

By in United States,

I miss Power Miners so much...and Alien Conquest. Okay, I've actually got a list.

By in Japan,

Shame they never made a lava version for the second year. Eruptorr was just a bigfig, and yet supposedly the final rock monster.

That aside, great set, great parts. If you’ve got the Mine Mech you can stage a pretty good battle between the two.
