Oh yes, when on the construction site, most definitely stand under objects being hoisted in the air. Safest place to be honestly.

Ah, yup! Thought I recognized that I owned this one! It's a good thing I started keeping tabs on my collection here at brickset so long ago. There's no way I'd be able to remember now what I did and didn't have as a kid.

4+ sets among the most improved themes over the last odd decade or so.

This set seems to be a strong representative of the lesser-known acronym of BUTP, which stands for Big Ugly Truck Pieces.

By in United States,

65 pieces seems like 10x the real number of pieces in this set.

Looking through the inventory and never realised 45406 came in Orange and Black. Train ideas bubbling...

By in United Kingdom,

Ahh the Jack Stone style figures.
Or 'stoners' as I like to call them.

What's up with that non-Lego town up on the hill?

By in Australia,

Wow. That's definitely ... something.

Those heavy objects will never think to crush him there. But he IS wearing a hard hat, so it’s safe.
Kind of like going to a mosh pit during a pandemic, but wearing a mask.

They had the urge to put something nice onto the manual as well.

Oh. The dark times.

@WemWem:
I mean, the bar for that is so low it's buried in the ground. Which is where this set should be.

@Harmonious_Building;
I just built an ice cream truck that's smaller than the crane and has just over 300pcs, which makes this seem even sadder by comparison.

@LegoRobo:
That's not really a "plus".

My gosh . . .

I remember when I got this set alongside set 4667: Loadin' Digger (and some magna wheels if y'all remember those) for my fourth birthday. One of those memories that'll stick with me.

I remember my dad took me out to a local party supply store to pick out some balloons, and when we got back, I realized that our fun morning was a diversion in prelude to an even greater treat - my mom had set up a Thomas the tank engine playhut in our small apartment living room, bless her heart!

To further my surprise, my grandparents also came up to our town and popped out from behind it. Gosh, I love them all so much. I think that's the sweetest and most exciting thing a 4 year old growing up in the early 2000's could experience.

It's funny, after all that, I have the Crocodile locomotive sitting along the left edge of my desk right next to me as I type this. I guess some interests are just a part of you, maturing and intersecting like a 4+ set and Thomas into a beautiful locomotive replica. Gaining more nuance, without loosing what you loved about them in the first place.

Thanks for all the good memories Huwbot! Go get yourself some Clickits, ya deserve 'em!

Big ugly parts aside, this set has some great parts...

The dude’s sunnies are what makes this set.

By in Ireland,

I clicked the 18 4 Juniors link and thought I had entered a parallel universe where proper Minifigures never existed and instead it was only these weird Minifigures. Or a nightmare and I am still asleep.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

I remember these from my catalogue! Sure they may not have aged well build-wise, but like most 4 Juniors and Jack Stone sets, they were still charming.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

One of my earlier sets. The parts really arent that bad. The only annoying thing is the weird minfigs.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Oh boy, how bad is that!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I know it's junior set but in World City era and nearly era of good old City? Although I know, it's 4+ but it's really disappointing. Compare it to 2004 Duplo sets. Luckily, a year later, a great 7249 compensated us for that.

By in Poland,

Those minifigs or as I call them tallfigs would be loved by many if they were made out of parts.
Their scale is perfect for Lego vechicles

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huh. This '4 Juniors' theme completely escaped my attention when researching what I missed out on in my dark ages. I never realized those utterly charmless figures existed outside of Jack Stone!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking at all the other 18 junior sets for the first time as new to all this looks like one of those discount store construction set copycat imitations, where they have larger pieces to save on cost and don't feature accurate mini-figs to avoid copyright infringements, but still quote pieces compatible with leading construction brands.

Blimey, that's a shock to the system after the past couple of days...!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow talk about a blast from the past. This was one of my first none-duplo sets. Yeah the figs look dumb and the build wasn’t exciting but it was great fun to play with as a kid

By in United States,

LEGO's made some great cranes over the years, and some dump trucks. However, this is neither due to extreme juniorization. Worst of all, the bed on the dump truck doesn't even tip! The method of holding up the boom is similar to sets from 20 years prior.

And also BUPF (Big Ugly People Figures).

@LegoRobo:
Nah, there's one plus. I don't own a copy.

@bricksintheattic:
4 Juniors was a rebranding of the Jack Stone theme. Functionally, they were the same theme, but changing the name may have encouraged/allowed the design team to branch out in other directions.

@cody6268:
You use the crane to hoist the front of the dump truck when you want to "tip" it. This also saves lives, as it prevents the dump truck driver from knocking down freeway signs that crush pickup trucks that are following a little too close.

Ah yes, the set I completely forgot I owned until I tried to track down where my crane arm was from. I scrolled past, had a moment of deja vu, opened the set page and the realization sank in. This is the only LEGO set that I had no memory of for 14 years.
