I thought this was cute as all get out, when it came out. Day one purchase for me, at the time, I remember.

That is a _lot_ of studs for a 2009 set.

Isn’t there supposed to to be a “loader” at the end?

What you mean? There's a big scoop right there on the front.

Great set, I owned it as a kid.

Probably one of my favorite city sets as a kid/TFOL (and it's still intact); the main image isn't really much to look at but the back end is exactly what I'd expect for a front end loader. It also looks really next to the dump truck from 7243, which I also have and really like the look of

Oh, man. I like this so. freakin’. much.
Too bad it’s another one from my dark ages. In fact, my dark ages were so long, I don’t think I have a single set that has been featured on RSotD yet.

I really dig this set.

By in Turkey,

There has been many loaders in the Town and City themes but none of them were as beautiful to me as 6658.

As a child, I frequently went to Manly for speech therapy and there was a toy store just opposite the centre. My mum and I went there one day, and I picked out this. The deal was I would only get certain pieces for each time I did one of my exercises. Interestingly, system worked and I built this in no time.

Anyway, this is now in pieces (like most of my pre-2013 LEGO), but seeing it here might have convinced me to gather up its parts.

I thought it was a technic set from the front page, very nicely done,

Great city year for construction, from the dozer 7685 to the crawler crane 7632 and building sites 7633 . Just wish they put the windows further apart to make it easier to get the guy in and out without having to take the windows apart.

By in Poland,

We've got a front-end loader, but what's loading the back-end?

By in Switzerland,

Was there ever a better City year than 2009..?

The city construction subtheme is my favourt, so I've collected most of them, only 4633 5642 30353 & 60252 no.
I think 7905 is the best one, 7242 7249 & 7632 are also excellent.
All in all , the city construction is my favourt theme.

A great set from one of the best years for modern City. I ended up buying nearly every set released that year.

I think I got this one for Christmas in 2009, along with 2-3 other medium size sets. It stayed built for 5-6 years. I have to admit, it's one of my favorites, especially due to the articulated steering

Need to get it reassembled. I've been going through my LEGO, tossing out assorted junk, clone brands, and damaged pieces. Missing and damaged pieces will need to be Bricklinked, and my secondary goal is to try to reassemble most of my sets.

My brother gave me his 2009 front end loader to go with my Lotso's dump truck 7789 from 2010 Toy Story. Now, I just need to get the crane (without the un-needed wrecking ball) from 60076 and the bulldozer from 60074 (both from 2015's Demolition subtheme) to complete my construction collection!

One of the best City sets, 2021 could use a re-issue.

I thought this was pretty awesome when it came out 11 years ago.

I own this. It doesn't massively impress me. I find the scoop at the front regularly falls off.

One of the early post dark age sets, crazy I’ve been back collecting Lego full throttle for so long now!

It does, a lot. I know I re-engineered mine to prevent that, but I can't remember how.

Wow!
That was a great year for City sets.
I didn’t realise that I had so many from the same year!
And this little yellow offering is superb.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, a good year for City sets as previously mentioned. The City collection could certainly do with some new construction sets over the usual police and fire sets that dominate.

@lytly:
Well, 2017 is the year most of the LEGO Batman Movie sets came out, so...
