When you ask Huwbot for a Bionicle set, and he just can't quite commit.
*gasps*
SKOPIO!
God bless you Jim Cummings, the voice of Ackar, your decades of experience in voice work culminated in a glorious line from 2009's Bionicle: The Legend Reborn.

He has a new film out this week, actually. Wolf of Snow Hollow.

That's coming out this week!?!? I thought I had to wait another month to see it
Well, this was the first set over $80 I ever had. I was so hyped to open this beauty in Christmas 2009. I really miss those times and this theme in general.
@Mr__Thrawn:
...I was about to say that he has a new hour-long Darkwing Duck episode airing tomorrow on the 2017 Ducktales series, but it appears Negaduck is not in that episode. In the new Ducktales, it was established a while back that Darkwing is a TV show that Launchpad watches. In later episodes, the actor who originally played DW on the show loses his mind and becomes Negaduck, while the actor hired to replace him decides to become Darkwing "in real life". There's about half a dozen classic DW villains set to appear in this hour-long episode, but Negaduck isn't on the list.
I always wanted this set as a kid. Never was able to get it.
This is spectacularrrr! How good is the video review too.
Skopio XV-1 was the largest BIONICLE I ever got and it maintains that record to this day. I waited for it to go on sale because cash-strapped college me couldn't shell out the $90 right away for it. Plus, it played a minor role in "The Legend Reborn" DVD film from 2009 (and it wasn't even the set, it was an "actual" Skopio creature, not the mech seen in the set), so I didn't feel very compelled to get it. The size and usage of tracks on legs is what intrigued me from a set-design standpoint, so finally in 2010, I managed to buy one.
Since I still haven't built it after ten years, I can't comment on how fun it is to play with or how awesome of a display piece it is. And yet, I am glad I own it, as it was a great flagship for the BIONICLE theme released right before its ending in early 2010. In the BIONICLE story, the Skopio XV-1 is the creation of a mad inventor that stalks the wastelands of Bara Magna. Its design was inspired by the Skopio beasts. In other words, this was just another of several post-apocalyptic, cobbled-together vehicles driven by random residents of Bara Magna.
For now, it seems Thornatus V9 may remain my favorite Bara Magna vehicle. Honestly, I'm OK with that.
Kinda looks like a buildable figure Exo-force.
Ackar: "Oh bother Piglet, the Skorpio XV is out in the woods again today."
Oh wait... wrong Jim Cummings character.
wow what a cool looking set, made back when Lego made interesting looking sets and not just licence themes.........
This is one impressive Bionicle set!
I don’t know nuthin’ ‘bout no bionicle, but Jim Cummings is a friggin’ national treasure. Can we have a comment section just for him?
On first glance: Hey, Exo-Force! Good theme.
Whilst reading the description: Wait! This is Bionicle?!!!!
This set is a regarded as classic within the Bionicle fan base, being the largest set ever released for the Bionicle line. This whole behemoth of a set costed only 90$, which is crazy looking back now. If a set like this were released today, it would probably be twice as expensive.
Great set choice, Huwbot!
Woo, a set I own. As the leg construction was repeated 4 times, it meant I could build it alongside my brother. That's not something you can do with most sets, especially bionicle.
Missed out on this at the time and deeply regret it. Seems to be pretty expensive on the aftermarket.
A pleasing return to the Technic roots of Bionicle!
Hmm, yeah, take off the weird ultra-specific bits and it makes a really great set. Two thumbs up.
Puts on best Schwarzenegger voice: THIS IS NOT A TUMA!
Instead, it is Telluris of the all but extinct Iron Tribe and his mighty war machine, the Skopio XV-1. Telluris adopted his orange color scheme and created his massive vehicle after his people were nearly obliterated by a mysterious “plague” that took away their ability to dream. The few who survived were ostracized by the other inhabitants of Spherus Magna, who feared that they might carry the supposed disease. Telluris took to terrorizing those who had cast him out, though fellow Iron Tribe survivor Sahmad scorned his masterwork as “an armored tantrum at the world”.
After the Battle of Roxtus, the Skopio was irreparably damaged, leaving Telluris to follow Sahmad’s empty promises of finding a way to repair it. This ultimately led the pair to discover Annona, the dream-eating monster responsible for the fate of their people. Telluris perished in a vain attempt at revenge, and as of 2010 his broken-down creation is still lying wrecked somewhere on Spherus Magna...
Oh, and incidentally, the Skopio vehicle was based on a massive creature of the same name. Some indeed held that the Iron Tribe suffered their cruel fate because of their reverence for the beasts.
Looks impressive, but as I've never seen this set I'm confused by how it would actually drive as two of the tracks are at right angles to the other two which would cause severe drag? Maybe I'm missing the point and it was just for display or 'floating' around. There is an alternative model where all the tracks are in-line which would seem to be more playable.
This was one of the greatest LEGO sets I've had the pleasure to own. Would love to get a second one to keep on display.
@ambr
The mode here is a walker, which can turn into a tank-like mode that uses the treads.

It transforms. Either it’s can scuttle about using a its legs like in the picture or it can hunker down and let the tracks become wheels
I collected Bionicle from around the time of my sixth birthday in '03 and I'm working on finishing the collection off now.
This is one of only four sets I don't have (bar playsets and a few other oddities), but the prices online are absurd, I'm just not able to justify £200-£400 on an old Lego set, as much as I might want to! Maybe one day
An impressively large tank-scorpion thing. Shame the build was so repetitive. The legs all had the same build... But the end result was worth it, imo. This thing is menacing.

If I'm correct it is the largest BIONICLE set ever released in fact.

We also played opposite to Worf... I mean um, Michael Dorn in that film too.
Yes, Bionicle is the Winnie the Pooh and Star Trek crossover you never knew you needed!

What? Lego makes more than just licensed themes now, just as they did then. Take off the rose-colored glasses.
I can never decide whether I regret missing this set or not.
On the one hand, my Bionicle interest was at an all-time low at this point in 2010, and I have to confess that The Legend Reborn movie had not helped with that. The large vehicles had been outside of my price range the previous year, anyway, so between that and my dwindling interest in the theme, I just didn't really pay any attention to 2009's vehicle wave. Plus, those legs look painfully repetitive to build; I feel like if I'd got it then, that alone would have thoroughly soured my enjoyment of the set.
On the other? It just looks? REALLY COOL? Even without having known much of its context until I looked it up recently, it's very easy to appreciate from a glance just how involved of a model this is, particularly compared to the near-ubiquitous Inika builds that we'd been seeing for several years by that point. It would certainly be a stand-out model in any collection.
But back on the first hand: where the heck would I have found space for a Bionicle set that big?! xD

Besides City and Creator there's Hidden Side, Ninjago and Monkie Kid. And Friends.
What they mean is that when it comes to minifigure themes right now, unless you have an app or tv-show to back up the sets you'll be part of City or Ninjago. Or a Ninjago 2.0 in Monkie Kid.
This is a real trend. If you look at the late 2000's Lego tried to make a lot more original themes. Since 2015 there have been fewer themes like space subthemes, pirates or castle or themes like atlantis, power miners or Dino 2012.
