Wasn't Chima such a fun, happy place before the war?

I don't know if I trust this Cathy Cat, she seems to be lurking in the shadows. That's some stranger danger right there, no elephant child of mine will be visiting that park anytime soon, no sir.

One has to wonder what in blazes happened to the Bunny tribe.
Wait.
Don't wolves eat bunnies? And there was a wolf tribe...

oh no

Y'know the thing about Cathy Cat, she's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When she comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'... until she bites ya. And those black eyes roll over white, and then... oh, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin', the playground turns red, and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces.

Fabuland is the most cursed LEGO theme. But the MOCs featuring Fabuland characters in post-apocalyptic landscapes are winners every time.

By in Australia,

I readily accept the headcanon that Chima is a sequel to Fabuland

By in Canada,

That crow is staring down bunny pretty hard. And I’d say that swings are probably one of the most ill-advised pieces of playground equipment for elephants to play on. Also, all other playground equipment.

We’re gonna need a bigger slide

By in Estonia,

I just realised the Fabuland animations (Edward and Friends) are on youtube... when I was little I was confused how they made Edward the elephant's trunk etc move, when plastic is stiff, but now it is clear they were all clay replicas, not actual Lego figures :-)

By in Australia,

One of the last Fabuland sets, and it isn’t a bad one.

By in Australia,

Soooo cute. I loved Fabuland and it was the only Lego I owned. I got to play with our town sets but they were shared as kids and my brother inherited all of them.
Also, some of these comments are soooo creepy. Ima gonna have nightmares.

By in Turkey,

I cannot express my fondness of Fabuland by words. It's so pretty and nostalgic. Sadly I don't have a single set. It's compatibility with standart system parts offers so much possibilities.

By in Croatia,

Those coments here are a bit too harsh... Fabuland is easily one of the cutest themes ever released by LEGO. I just love the peaceful and fun atmosphere that those sets have.

Beats the Sesame Street set.

By in Poland,

I love fabuland to this day, such underrated theme!

I don't have this one because by 1989 I was "too old" to get any new sets.
Although I do think that the last of the Fabuland were a bit of a random mishmash. The faces on the figures were a bit terrifying.
This would have been a good set for 'parts'. I never did get a Fabuland slide. Poor me.

This really is my time period, but I had NO idea about the TV show. Passed me by at the time. BUT... it looks amazing! Produced by Film Fair, a very well regarded studio. And with Bernard Cribbins on narration.

My daughter has some fabuland characters from car boot sales and job lots. Time to let her check these episodes out!

By in United Kingdom,

Cathy Cat looks a bit strange as she is the only real figure behind the plastic tray rather than a picture. At the time Fabuland was seen as a step in-between Duplo and Lego City for ages 3 to 6, so as this age bracket had little alternatives I thought the theme would last forever, and was sad when it stopped in 89 after a 10 year run. Most of the sets were simple vehicles, but the large ones were interesting, I remember the paddle steamer, grocery store and amusement fair from nursery. Now if only my parents had brought me these sets, hidden in the attic and forgotten to give to me, I would have a gold mine. It would be really ironic now if TLG paid a licence to do Peppa Pig!

Now a set like this would be intricately designed, have 732 pieces, no baseplate, and cost $70.

The last gasp of Fabuland...

By in United Kingdom,

I was having a chat on my lug forum about how this set is a bit odd because the characters are meant to be adults so what are they doing in a kiddie playground. This lead to a theory that Fabuland was actually a nursery school and all the shops/cars/accessories etc were role play equipment.
They weren't adults living busy lives - they were 3 year olds in the 'home corner'.

(Chima obviously the teen years)

Some nice parts in that set.

Serious comment: Lego is leaving so much money on the table not offering a Collector's set.

Or CMF series?

By in Germany,

I had a few Fabuland sets. Didn't fit in with any of the rest of my sets, but that's the beauty of LEGO, at least it used to be back then. When my Fabuland characters came to visit my Classic Space station or my Legoland Stadt scenes, all was happy and well. ;-)

@Padmewan:
Nah. They keep the fervor alive by releasing the occasional animal costume minifig in the numbered CMF waves. Those are hollowed out Fabuland skins. Like Leatherface, but for kids!

Oh, good catch! That's a pretty fun and interesting use of packaging I haven't seen before.
