Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 1272 Blue Racer, released in 2000. It's one of 45 Town sets produced that year. It contains 23 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$3.95.
It's owned by 304 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

From a certain point of view, this is three sets in one...
I like the tiny exhaust pipes
Cute vehicle!
Well, it may not be as big, but at least it's pretty close to the same scale as yesterday's RSOTD, amiright?
Gotta love that shark shirt.

Not even close!
Huwbot has been enjoying race cars recently . . .
Bit greedy with those three set numbers.
Yep, I checked the release date, and it's a 2K set. Figures, not even the minifig is desirable.
Three set numbers means we'll see this same set 2 more times. Yay.
Oof, pretty lame set.

It's just a polybag-sized set, what more can you expect?
Town Race. One of my favorite themes.
I had no idea this theme was part of Town for the longest time; I only knew of it as Stunt Rally due to that being the name of the accompanying video game. It baffled me for ages when I first joined Brickset, many years ago now, and couldn't find a Stunt Rally theme because that wasn't actually the theme name!
The blue shark-logo guy here was called Barney. Yes, like the dinosaur. And in fairness, he did have at least *somewhat* better cars than this, as seen in 6714 and 6617; this was just the polybag-esque version ^^
As for the other minifigures in this theme: red scorpion guy was called Wrench, green crocodile girl was Lucky, and yellow tiger guy was Chip. I'm not even making these names up, they come directly from said Stunt Rally PC game. The game also had more characters as rivals, too, but only these four - the 'protagonist' characters - ever appeared in sets.
For what it's worth, Race / Stunt Rally did seem to be trying for being a story-based theme: it had a distinct world (Mr. X's island, which was literally in the shape of an 'X' with each branch being a different racing zone - city, desert, jungle and ice) and characters with names and very basic personalities, but it just never went anywhere with it. Even I don't really know what to think of this theme, to be honest... it's just kinda a thing that exists xD
@Isabella_and_Lego_Liker:
I dunno. Looks pretty close to 1:TooSmallForMjnifigs scale to me!
Looks a lot like the kind of kart you would build in the first Lego Racers game (1999). If you have tried to construct them on a Nintendo 64, you will understand why they had to be simple.
Well.....Its blue
