... uh-oh.

Still, at least the horse is slightly-less terrifying that the evil doll with the eyes who won't stop staring.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Well, looks like My Dad's bought himself a horse.

Okay, Huwbot loved all the attention yesterday from Scala that he now craves more. We may have just made him an addict. What happens when he runs out of Scala? It's certainly possible, but then what? We need to wean him off fast!

By in United States,

Is the horse's name 'Stable'?

Gravatar
By in United States,

By my quick math, our chance of having gotten a Scala set as RSOTD was 0.4 or 0.5%
(I don't know if there can be repeat RSOTD)

Gravatar
By in United States,

So this is who My Dad's gifts are for? The plot thickens...

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Where's the stable?

Gravatar
By in United States,

this also marks 25% of the Scala sets being RSOTD (19/75), though Avatar: TLA has the highest (1/2, or 50%) of a theme being RSOTD.

@dingbat591: Not with the Friends that is for sure.

By in United States,

I'm wondering what scale are these horses? Breyer Traditionals-size (1/9) or bigger? I know there are 1/6 horses out there, but the prices are nuts. The figures Breyer sells to go with the horses are more to scale with old Mego; thus considerably smaller; a little under 8" for females, vs. most female 1/6 figures which are anywhere from 10" to just under 12".

These horses have one thing I hate about model horses--and that's actual manes; as opposed to molded on like most Breyer. This coming from the guy who has probably two dozen Stablemates, about a half-dozen Classics, and three Traditionals, mostly from the stage where I was into horses during my preteen years. Would have gotten into it more, except two problems; one, I had chosen English, and the saddle I had was specially made (she was on a college dressage team a few years prior) made for my instructor (whose in-laws were good friends of my grandparents), who in her mid-twenties was shorter than, and weighed less than myself (about 4'10; maybe 125 lbs.), who was an average eleven-year-old at the time; and there were some family issues which involved a slight custody issue between my parents and my grandparents (I'd been raised by, and still live even now with my grandparents) that prevented me from doing anything that would get me hurt. I would say, by now, I'd be a pretty competent horseman, and have dropped English for a proper Western saddle.

@Zordboy:
That's because you're not a horse. If you've ever done any serious reading on the Uncanny Valley, the closer you get to "lifelike human", the rat-creepier the result will turn out. But this only works on humans because we're so tuned in to what other humans look like. Most people couldn't look at a lifelike statue of a horse and tell you if the musculature looks right, and most of those who could might not notice unless they were asked. This is why movies like The Incredibles use cartoony character designs, since it banishes any thoughts of the Uncanny Valley by not even trying to look lifelike.

@brickengineeringdude:
If My Dad is the owner, it's probably named Unstable.

@Slithus_Venom:
Only if there's a repeat set. So if the same set was issued with two different set numbers, each one can pop up once. 375-2 was RSotD in 2018, and nearly 10 months later 3075-2 popped up. There aren't any more versions of that same set, so it's done now. Since more than 365 new sets are released annually, if it doesn't already, RSotD will start getting a bigger influx each January 1st than what it used the year before. Since this means the eligible list will never be exhausted, there's no reason to reinstate eligibility for previous entries.

@cody6268:
The water bottle, flower, and random shrubbery are all common LEGO elements, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out generally how big this horse is from the image. Bricklink might also have more specific dimensions.

By in United States,

84 of you own this.... EIGHTY-FOUR?!?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow of course it would be a horse. Scalia the new Clikets??

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Would have been even more worrying if this was the one renamed to My Dad

Gravatar
By in United States,

True Randomnes often seems like pattern. Carry On Huwbot you beautiful, scala-centric, humor-inducing code snippet!

So there was always a guy with bionicle lore... Anybody know the backstory to this horse and My Dad?

My Dad rode out of town on this horse and never came back

Gravatar
By in United States,

They should have called it 'My Horse'.

Gravatar
By in United States,

*sigh* That should be 6075-2, not 3075.2.

@bemahan:
That will have to wait for one month and four days.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Did the boots fit the horse?

Anyway, anyone think this could beat My Dad in the comments?

Too many My Dad jokes already, I cannot come up with any new one. :(

If we get a Scala donkey tomorrow, it‘ll be My Ass.

Nope, I doubt even if Huwbot did the $500 SW set from 2007 it could beat it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huwbot isn't a Clickits fan anymore. It's all about Scala! Better update that Lego Ideas model to replace the heart.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That horse is huge! Just look at the builds around it.
I want to see a side-by-side of it with a LEGO T-Rex for laughs.

Bionicle is the only LEGO theme that has anything close to a "lore". That's the thing that made it so unique and so popular.

Scala never get any donkeys. The only animals that appeared in the Scala line were horses, dogs, and cats. Sorry to disappoint you, but you won't be able to make that joke...

In fact, there has been no donkey ever I think, since the tag got nothing. Though if we do get a 5th Shrek film, that will surely change.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Thanks Huwbot, the stray “unstable” horse clears a lot up.

See, My Dad is actually King Richard the Third. No wonder why he looks inbred.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The age of Scala, has begun.

Gravatar

This can't get any horse.

Nice set of My Ed. To get along for hours of talking with My Dad.

Down with that kind of thing!

Gravatar

Horse Stable just came out of the vets with a clean bill of health. Horse Critical is having to stay there overnight for observation

My horse daddy.

Gravatar

Goes very well with My Dad indeed… You could also use (part of) it to re-enact that famous scene from "The Godfather" :D

We have this set. Would you like a review?

Gravatar

Dad of My Horse.
Could have been worse.

Gravatar

@Huw yes please.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What happened to the rider, they have taken off their boots and riding hat, maybe they have disappeared with my dad into the hay?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I will not be helping this set come to life. In fact, I will make it my life's mission to destroy the few that remain.

Yes, we would love to see some LEGO Scala reviews! I wanna take a closer look at all those unique parts.

Yes, please. And any background around what Lego were doing, or trying to do with Scala - it's not something I had heard of. The joy of Huwbot in opening the Pandora's Box of Lego products past...

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is way too much of a coincidence. Two Scala in a row?

Yes please! If your daughter was playing with it as a kid, maybe you could include her thoughts? Like was this set/Scala theme appealing to her at the time?

Ninjago doesn’t have quite as much depth as Bionicle but I think its mythos can still be classified as “lore”.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think Huwbot’s algorithm is influenced by the number of comments garnered from his posts. Anyone at Brickset Towers want to confess?

In all seriousness, if Huwbot never had steaks, it would actually be less truly random. A set of binary digits has the same probability of getting all zeros as any other specific combination. Plus, streaks are hilarious.

@Kenmore:
Several years back, Brickworld had a keynote speaker from The LEGO Company. She explained how she'd been involved in the design team for Scala, Belville, Clikits, and pretty much every single attempt to capture the girls' market up to that point. From what I hear, she was no longer employed there when Friends was launched. It's pretty clear what they were trying to do, but good luck trying to figure out how they were planning to do it.

@Mr__Thrawn:
In the sense of canon as it pertains to a work of fiction, then yes, Ninjago does have lore. In the more historical sense of oral tradition that's passed down through the generations, that is unique to Bionicle. Ninjago has computers and books. They're a bit past that method.

Be sure to include the horse's dimensions for @cody6268 ;-)

This does remind me I have one of those saddles which I found in a bag of bulk Lego :-D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I've dug my daughter's Scala out of the loft, and it seems there is a lot of it! More than I ever remember buying them: 3 horses, about a dozen dolls including three Dad/Christian's, the large dolls' house and several others from the first tranche, camping sets and so on.

I'm going to task my wife with reassembling them, which will be challenging because many never came with instructions and those that did were not conventional.

We'll need to resort to BrickLink to determine inventories and work out what we have.

Gravatar

@Huw:
Ah! Three? They're being cloned! And they've each got a horse to ride in on!

Gravatar

Black horse.

Yellow blanket.

I'm getting OG Blacktron vibes here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw one more horse, another My Dad/Christian, and a bit of MOCing and you could recreate the Four Horsemen for us :)

Gravatar

@darkstonegrey:
I don't think he needs to MOC anything. Yesterday had Death in his eyes, just the way he was...
