And 6029 hasn't been RSOTD yet, so expect the partner to come at some point.

Better close that treasure chest when you're going up that mountain if you want the treasure to stay in it.

I was well into AFOLdom when this set came out. I don’t think I got it but I certainly acquired some Dragon Knight minifigures like the one here.

By in Canada,

This little guy I got on Christmas of 1998. He is one of my 30 oldest minifigs. He is the greatest villain of my Lego World.

And I named him Rump.

As I child, I thought I was making up a cool, villain name. Many years later I discovered the truth.

My webcomic where Rump is, SPOILER the Villain : http://pirateslife.webcomic.ws/

And, umm, it's got a black 2x6 plate. Only thing useful for Blacktron. and the head. I still only have one of those heads.

By in Australia,

Funny looking helmet, part samurai part well Fright Knights I guess. The witch always made me laugh.

By in United States,

With all so many memed photos on the Internet in the past couple days, I half expected to see Bernie Sanders wearing mittens sitting on the cart.

Lego loved its carts back in the day I guess. I remember many likes of this.

This is bat country

By in United States,

The wonderful time when there would be 20 castle sets produced in a year.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Carrying a full treasure chest, by yourself, up a hill? Yeah this poor guy got the punishment duty didn't he? Wonder what he did to annoy the Bat Lord

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

He needs to close the lid or he is gonna lose that treasure.

I followed the hyperlink to the set data because I was sure I remembered buying this one from a clipstrip at my local Toys R Us at the time, discovered this particular set was a boxed version of the polybag I have from 1998. The knight's helm was originally debuted in Dragon Masters, but the Fright Knights never took advantage of the three plumage ports on the top and sides of this helm.

I think it's a trap.. this poor soul has been sent out to lure the enemy from it's lair!

I like those bats.. only 3 variants. AMDA (after my dark age), I purchased a job lot several years ago and the Stone bridge and small temple from this range were in amongst it all. The Brickset database helped me re-assemble it all.

By in Netherlands,

This set was the first of the fright knights I got. I was very happy with it. I got 6004 later that year.

By in United Kingdom,

Maybe the bat was trained to be a diversion or hypnosis the guard while the thieves stole the gold coins and replaced it with clear plastic studs? I like the way mini-figs used to come with a small build so you could expand your main sets and increase the potential story-lines.

To be fair, I'm not sure helmets festooned with decoration exactly suit the Fright Knights more gothic aesthetic. Works for the more harlequin-esque Dragon Knights, but when your top dude dresses like a bat, a helmet with just a gargoyle crest is really what you need

@Rimefang :
Fright Knights actually DID use the top hole in the helmet in sets 6087, 6097 and 6027. For the smaller 'Impulse' type sets in the 1990s it was quite common for Minifigures to be missing some decorative parts like plumes or capes, that the regular 'full version' had.

However it is true, that neither Fright Knights nor any other theme than Dragon Masters made use of the side holes.

The most special thing about this set is by far the dark grey bat! It only appeared here (+ it's polybag version of cause) and 5988 Temple of Anubis, also from 1998.

Has anyone else wondered about this knights face? Is he having a goatee and a very long chin or is this a mustache and a nose (like Timmy and some Western figures)?

Also note that this is one of the few Castle figures to appear outside of Castle sets as Commodore Schmidt/Professor Millenium in Time Twisters (6496/6497)...

It looks like a goatee and smile to me. I would never think of it as a nose and mustache combo, but I guess that's how my brain works.

Cart is like the fire/police quad bike/ATV of Castle.

It's a standard smile face with a goatee under the mouth.

He's saying "Bring out your dead ( ?p?r?e?s?i?d?e?n?t?s? kings)! Bring out your dead ( ?p?r?e?s?i?d?e?n?t?s? kings)!" He's not hauling treasure around. He's collecting it.

@Atuin:
It's a standard minifig smile that just happens to be sitting a little higher than usual.
