Adrift Sport just drifted through a sticker factory...

Why RSotD an hour early? I'm confused. The Daylight saving thing already happened.

Europe has a different date for daylight savings. So brickset is adjusted accordingly. Leave it the the Europeans to complicate something like the RSotD. ;)

By in United States,

I loved Tiny Turbos for their first few years. They packed a lot of detail into the little 4-wide vehicles, for the part selection they had at the time. There were a bajillion stickers, which was a bit much. This specific car was one of a few that had glow in the dark parts, including cheese slopes and 4L bars. I kept the gitd elements long after I dissolved the cars.

Aw man, glow in the dark cheese is the best cheese.

@Your_Future_President:
Nah, this one’s on us. About a decade ago, we expanded DST by two weeks in the spring, and one week in the fall. So instead of setting clocks forward on the 28th like we would have in the past, we did it on the 14th. RSotD has been posting at 9pm Eastern, but for two weeks it was 10pm instead. Now it’s back to 9pm until the UK goes back to standard time a week before we do.

Unique: None

Rare: None

Not even the glowy cheese. Since there's nothing to write out for rare parts I'll list the sets with a glowy cheese:

7612 x2
8148 x2
8149 x2 (I've got this one)
8151 x2 (Our subject today)
8152 x3

Also the cheese slope is usually included as an extra piece in most sets, so they are not as scarce as you might think. Only sold in 2008 though.

I feel like 30342 and 30343 are the (completely licensed) spiritual successors to Tiny Turbos. Too bad they aren't their own subtheme of Speed Champions. The original Tiny Turbos did have some Ferrari licensed vehicles.

This was one of my first LEGO sets. I remember sticking some of the stickers on my shirt because I didn't realize they were supposed to be applied to the bricks.

[The glowy bits didn't hurt either.]

I suppose it depends whether they contain phosphorus or radium.

Glowy cheese is the new goats.

I'm trying to figure out what they were going for here. A pickup truck, with a time attack-style wing, a power bulge in the hood like a drag car, a light bar like a firetruck, and apparently it drifts?

AWESOME!

They didn't match us before 2007 either. DST used to begin the first Sunday of April.

This one comes from an era when Tiny Turbos were basically the only sets I ever bought. Looking back, I'm not completely sure what I saw in them. At least I've got the glow-in-the-dark pieces.

I’m trying to figure out why there are two glowing cheese slopes on the top of this thing. What is that supposed to be or do? Can anybody help me out here?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not even a car guy and I love Tiny Turbos. Only issue were the stickers, all my old fellas are peeled and dusty and can't really be rebuilt. I always felt like the LEGO Dimensions gadgets would mesh well with them!

I like the color, but the desing is meh...

That big chunky windshield with the glowy slopes on it really seems like it would be ruining the aerodynamics. Looks like it would serve as one big airbreak

From my interpretation, I'd say they are probably supposed to be some sort of sirens, like you would see on a police car.

To be fair, the average truck isn't too terribly aerodynamic, to begin with."

It's a truck? Are there normally trucks in racing? I've only ever really seen trucks racing when the Top Gear lads do a challenge XD

So just like basically all of the Tiny Turbo vehicles ;-)

As far as aesthetics go, sure, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, but man do I find this one ugly. The proportions seem all over the place. There were, in hindsight (happened during my dark ages) so many cool Tiny Turbos, but this imho wasn't one of them.

Truck races are a thing! Complete with lowered suspensions, spoilers, and tons of stickers!

This made me laugh harder than any comment I’ve read in a very long time. That’s such a hilarious story, I’ve never heard about anyone doing that but yet it’s so obvious that it should’ve at least happened to a couple of people, right?

Where do you think glowy cheese comes from?
