Review: Wile E. Coyote

Boxes of Collectable Minifigures should include complete series. However, mistakes sometimes occur and Brickset's box omitted Wile E. Coyote, instead containing six Road Runners.

LEGO has kindly provided the missing character to complete our review of 71030 Looney Tunes Collectable Minifigures.

Minifigure

Almost every Looney Tunes Collectable Minifigure includes a unique dual-moulded head and Wile E. Coyote is no exception. This component faithfully recreates the character's onscreen appearance, featuring a prominent snout beside enormous ears. The fur texture reflects other Looney Tunes minifigures and I love the printed eyes, conveying Wile's calculating personality.

This simplified torso decoration also appears reminiscent of other Looney Tunes characters, emulating their uncomplicated animation style. Wile E. Coyote's tail looks splendid, featuring perfect texture and matching the Tasmanian Devil, while the feet are decorated with accurate highlights to form individual toes as well.

Wile E. Coyote has deployed countless Acme products when attempting to ensnare the Road Runner, famously including anvils. An anvil therefore accompanies this minifigure, comprising four pieces and resembling past anvils throughout the Castle range. This accessory works for the character, although something more outlandish and displaying Acme branding might have been preferable.

Overall

Wile E. Coyote definitely maintains the brilliant standard established by 71030 Looney Tunes Collectable Minifigures. I appreciate the consistent design between characters, including their unique heads and comparatively simple printing which reflects the animation style. However, I think Wile's accessory could have been improved and the same is true for several characters.

Our review of the other eleven minifigures and extended summary is available here.

This minifigure was provided for review by The LEGO Group but the review represents an expression of my own opinions.

Guess it's a wild conundrum that we have to be careful while searching for him.

From what I’ve seen, this only happened with boxes sent to reviewers so there’s no need to worry about not finding him in stores

By in Singapore,

The Coyote and the Road Runner look so good together!

Huh. I found the CMFs in a supermarket last week and Wile E. was literally the first one I pulled from the box.

Saving the best for last.

They finally figured out which canyon he fell into, huh?

Hey Capn, nice review! Do you actually already have a copy of 75308? Because I noticed you have added it to your collection.

No Foghorn Leghorn?

No comment...

Except for this comment, I suppose.

Wish they would have printed Acme on the side

That was maybe the most tactful response to that question I think could have been given. Good show!

@Spidermanager:
Did you find (or buy) a fresh box, or had someone already had a shot at it? Given that every review copy got shorted that character, I could totally see some people misunderstanding what happened, assuming that WEC is short-packed, and tried to buy up every copy they could find to make a fortune on eBay.

if his nose was red and in a lighter color he pass as Ralph Wolf then we have to wait for Sam Sheepdog to show up on the next line. For now he pass as George Ralph's replacement in Sheep Ahoy.

By in United States,

It seems like a handful of boxes don't include Wiley and include six Roadrunners.
In February I found the complete box of LEGO Vidiyo bandmate series,and it seemed untampered with. I got a full row expecting the full set, but instead got a duplicate. I kind of wonder if LEGO is beginning to tamper with the box distribution at the factory, which would cause people to buy more CMF packs. This is just a wild conspiracy theory though.

Ok, so i'm presuming these are still in the regular packets and not in the boxes like the Vidiyo figures? I wouldn't be surprised if Lego move towards the boxes in future due to the over-use of plastic.

If these are in packets, then i'll go and get my full set from the Lego store, who usually have full sets ready for purchase.

Well at least with six road runners, maybe he's actually got a chance of catching one.

@PurpleDave:
I had gotten mine at Walmart, which usually in my area has them on a neat little branded rack, taken out of the box. So it’s hard to tell if anyone had taken him, yet the racks were organized for each character... :P

Unless you were there when they unpacked the box and watched them put all of the bags onto the racks and *then* were unable to find him, then there's no reason to think that this error spreads any further than the review copies.

@fakespacesquid:
Indeed. As I said, someone may have gotten it in their mind that WEC is rare and that they can make a fortune by buying them all up and reselling them. Such a person would probably skip every other minifig there. Although, if you actually count the packets and there are exactly 36(?), I would be inclined to think it was a fresh case with nothing missing. To be 100% certain, you’d really need to confirm the contents of every packet, but I haven’t personally sorted an entire case since S10, barring TLBM/DC.

Wile E Coyote and Sylvester are my favourites, they convert to Lego characters perfectly, with Tazmanian Devil and Speedy Gonzalez close runner-ups.

I love the figure, but yeah, it would've been nice to have an ACME product.

More likely the boxes are packed by people or machines that *almost* get it right. All it takes is a mistimed step, maybe an automatic rejection of a single faulty package, and the pattern would be out until it was reset

One might even say... his wily personality?

By in Germany,

At the price these figures cost nowadays, a printed acme piece should have been a given imho.

Roller skates. If they werent gonna print ACME on the brick they shoulda included red roller skates.

Ooh, roller skates with a pair of 1x1-1x1 up brackets and something to represent flames and you’ve got rocket skates!
