Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 8969 4-Wheeling Pursuit, released in 2009. It's one of 5 Agents sets produced that year. It contains 320 pieces and 2 minifigs, and its retail price was US$29.99/£21.49.
It's owned by 1643 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.
Help me come to life! If you like the set I've chosen for you today, please pledge your support for me on LEGO Ideas so I have a chance of becoming an official LEGO set!

It's a very big truck for one person, though.
Agents, a theme about secret agents defending the free world against some nefarious organization, and they come rolling in with a monster truck. Real subtle guys.
And I thought my dad was creepy.
Ok yeah never mind still creepier
That helicopter windscreen sticking straight up is…not good. Agents again though, yay!
So...I guess the idea is that the dude in the Canyonero ATV is chasing the helicopter that's not limited to driving on roads. Or land in general.
Wow. Such overkill for a Four Wheeler.
I had this set and it was pretty decent. The soft chrome fenders are really nice pieces, and the 4 wheeler had pendular suspension so it was fun to drive on rough terrain.
Metallic silver fenders!?
That helicopter canopy couldn’t look any worse
Personally I like the canopy I mean yeah it looks terrible the way its attached but 1. it reminds me of 1950s Sioux helicopters which I love (eg MASH helicopter, 1966 Batcopter, I just like old stuff) and 2. at least its not that horrid 4 wide one that EVERY SINGLE City police helicopter uses..
The wheels are waayyy too large on that truck thing. Agents was a really cool theme though, I always liked the creative names for villans like Dr D Zaster and Dollar Bill.
We've got "soft chrome" from @Agent00Z, which is a new one to me.
"Metallic Silver" from @The_Creator is a little more common.
Personally I know this color as "Drum Lacquered Silver" in reference to the process used to add a thin layer of reflective material to the regular plastic surface. I don't have any sources to back me up, but I've always suspected that this is the replacement color after chrome was out. I would assume the layer is thin enough to use parts from the same mold as an uncoated piece, eliminating the need for separate chrome molds. @PurpleDave, do you have any insight related to this?

You're probably right. I didn't remember the actual technical name of the color, so I just described the color as I remember seeing it in my collection. I'm not the best at remembering the names of LEGO colors.
A set with minifigs, at last!
Canyonero! Hyah!
Nice one, @PurpleDave.
I think they forgot to edit out the stand they used for the helicopter, unless it really does have a random set of red and blue bricks sticking out from between its skids
Well, this is were the oversized cartoony vehicles trend that is so common nowdays in themes like Ninjago originated from.
I've got mixed feelings on this set... As other people pointed out, the helicopter looks pretty bad. The truck is... cool, I guess? For the time, this was a pretty novel concept for a set, but since then, we've gotten so many oversized vehicles in this style that It lost any sort of uniqueness it might have originally had.
That said, the Toxic Doctor Inferno is a pretty deliciously terrific figure!
As much as I wanted a number of the Agents sets, I’m glad to have missed this. That car is ugly as heck.
Dr D Zaster, or however it’s spelled, is a neat figure though
If you look closely, you can still see the multicoloured support under the helicopter that would hold it up for photography! Looks like it hasn’t fully been edited out.
The support under the heli was probably left in place to compensate for the absence of missiles, either ready to be fired from the back of the truck or in flight.
So, are the prepared to face baby Thomas from yesterday's RSOTD?

Well spotted!
My ranking of Agents sets:
https://brickset.com/sets/list-35006
@Galaxy12_Import:
The only info I have is observational, which is that I once paid through the nose to get a batch of chrome-gold 1x2 tiles, only to find that about half of them had zero clutch because they barely got chromed on the underside. I have never once had a similar problem with any drum-lacquered color.
@Brickalili:
And there you probably have one of the reasons they shifted to all-CGI packaging artwork.
@TheWackyWookiee:
I could have sworn he only came in a larger submarine set. I actually bought Inferno’s volcano base and filled it with every villain from this theme (even the henchmen), so I spent quite a bit of time digging through the listings to identify every villain, and how they were armed.
It’s Hawkeye in his monsterbuggy taking it on with Radio-Active Man! Go Avengers!
Ah, those silver-coated bricks... they teased the possibility of an official Lego Star Wars Naboo Royal Nubian type starship.
Sadly it never happened.

Very true.
To me the second wave of Agents sets (or "2.0" as it was branded) didn't feel as polished as the first year. 8971 was probably my favorite from the second year, I don't own it, but I have 7477, which is arguably cooler.
@Zeb:
Ah, no, I was just getting them mixed up because I did have to get Slime Face from that set as well. I bought very few of these sets, so most of the villains were loose Bricklink purchases, which makes it difficult to keep track of which characters came in what sets.
This is my least favourite set of Agents 2.0. But the Dr. D. Zaster minifigure in the set is awesome!
