Review: 76191 Infinity Gauntlet
Posted by CapnRex101,
Thanos' menacing Infinity Gauntlet has become extremely famous, accommodating six powerful stones that encapsulate differing abilities. 76191 Infinity Gauntlet integrates those Infinity Stones and certainly appears impressive, also including numerous drum-lacquered elements.
Furthermore, the model has proven remarkably poseable, comprising several versatile joints. These provide tremendous articulation which is important for display, without substantially compromising the appearance of the spectacular gauntlet. The vibrant Infinity Stones are splendid too, attaching nicely to the Infinity Gauntlet.
The Completed Model
The packaging for 76191 Infinity Gauntlet seems rather uncomplimentary, especially because the fingers are shown together. I think splaying these fingers improves the model substantially, producing a more natural shape which compares favourably with the movies. Furthermore, the scale of this gauntlet is appealing, measuring 31cm in height when connected to the stand and approximately matching an adult hand in size.
Construction shares certain similarities with the Helmet Collection models, particularly around the wrist where large panels are connected using clips. The palm seems quite unusual though and makes splendid use of clips to reverse the studs, as demonstrated below. This image also reveals the distribution of metallic gold parts, which are focused exclusively across the exterior, as expected.
The gauntlet is displayed on an attractive stand, complementing the Helmet Collection models which incorporate similar display bases. The black colour scheme contrasts beautifully against the golden Infinity Gauntlet and I appreciate the printed plaque, identifying this famous weapon. Branding for the Infinity Saga also decorates this plaque so matches the packaging.
Exactly 153 drum-lacquered metallic gold elements decorate the exterior, surpassing the total achieved by 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech. They include 3x10 shells which look excellent and the texture seems impressive too, comprising ingots, 2x3 pentagonal tiles and 2x2 angled corner tiles. The 4x4 curved corner tiles are also integrated successfully.
Additionally, the integration between different segments around the wrist guard is exceptional, leaving surprisingly narrow gaps. The combination of metallic gold and dark tan pieces seems reasonable as well, primarily because the onscreen gauntlet appears bronze rather than shiny gold. This distinctive colour scheme has accordingly exceeded my expectations.
Intricate texture continues throughout the Infinity Gauntlet, employing varied combinations of curved slopes, tiles and panels. The general shape also appears accurate beside the original weapon and these Infinity Stones look splendid. Their colours appear relatively drab in official images so such vibrancy was pleasantly surprising, especially for the Time Stone.
These stones are attached last during construction and can be removed with ease, revealing dark tan studs and pearl gold jumper plates underneath. The varied shapes and sizes appear effective too, loosely corresponding with their onscreen design. Ideally, the stones would have been more rounded, although that was presumably impossible at this scale.
While the reverse of the gauntlet consists almost entirely of golden pieces, the palm features more dark tan elements. Additional drum-lacquered parts would certainly have enhanced this section of the Infinity Gauntlet, although this would have entailed design alterations. Including such changes may compromise the shaping though, which appears realistic.
Fortunately, the fingers are beautifully adorned with metallic gold pieces, including 1x2 plates with flanges and 2x2 plates with bows. These elements are intended to slot together and they appear magnificent here. Moreover, the hinged joints provide impressive articulation, enabling varied display options. Unfortunately, some unsightly gaps remain visible around the thumb.
Of course, the most important pose is definitely the infamous 'snap'. The articulation functions perfectly to create this position and the superb thumb structure becomes especially significant here. My favourite detail is the adjustable panel beside the thumb, which moves inwards when required to accommodate this digit. When the thumb moves outwards again, the metallic panel can follow and partially conceal the resulting gap.
Overall
76191 Infinity Gauntlet undoubtedly captures the majesty associated with this infamous weapon, particularly given the enormous quantity of metallic gold elements. The texture looks fantastic and I think the chosen scale is beneficial, despite deviating from Thanos' onscreen gauntlet. The colourful Infinity Stones are also appealing and I appreciate the option to remove them easily.
However, the most enjoyable feature is the articulation, which has surpassed my expectations. The movement is not completely realistic but remains satisfying, providing ample options when displaying this marvellous model. I think the price of £59.99 or $69.99 represents fair value and would accordingly recommend this set to any Marvel Cinematic Universe collector.

So you guys went to that store and got it? ;)
This looks excellent, even better than the official images.
My son wanted this as soon as he saw the leaked images. I think this will be a very popular set.
Damn when the fingers are spread and the colors of the gems are more clearly visible, the Gauntlet looks 1000x better than on the box art
It looks spectacular with the light reflecting on all the drum-lacquered gold elements.
Did you see any off the ninjago sets at Woolworths? or was it just the infinity saga sets? either way, thanks for the great review!
Day one purchase for me, this is sure to sell out.
Reality is often disappointing, but not in this case.
Oh wow it looks fine. Am I the only one who now want a second version too, either Hulks or Iron Mans?
It just looks so impressive, and from you've said, it is really that impressive. Thanks for the review and the great pictures.
Definitely getting this. If only the stones would light up too.

Give it time, they'll be a lighting kit released soon enough :)
Is this going to be a June 1 release for Europe and August 1 here in the states?
Don't give a smeg about the source material, but have to get this anyway. What an awesome parts pack for drum lacquered gold pieces!
I mean it’s a great looking set and all but I am slightly disappointed you can’t wear it as an actual gauntlet XD
This is probably the best new model original model I've seen from Lego and at $60 I see all the MOCers saying oooh look at all those gold pieces. I can't wait to see them do Iron Man's Glove next, Spiderman with web shooters.
This will sky rocket by aftermarket sellers the moment it goes on sale. I expect long back orders and out of stock for many.
I hope we get a similarly - scaled Mjolnir soon. It doesn't seem likely, but it could happen.
This set is exactly what I wanted! The only part I don't love is the design of the stones, but I get why they couldn't be more round and the colors do pop a lot more than on the box art. I really hope we get a Nano Gauntlet in this style next year!
I AM interested
WHY of WHY the sides cant be gold as well?
Ehh, nevermind Im buying it just for pieces anyway
I was worried that the fingers didn’t splay... but they do! Happy day!
"Wait a minute, Wiggins! That Osprey Rescue aircraft could conceivably be linked with the military. Cancel it immediately!"
"Yes, boss."

"I've designed a new set. boss. It's Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet."
"What does it do?"
"It was used to exterminate half of all life in the universe."
"Looks cool! Approved."

Ah but it is fantasy, so that is ok!
Just built the medieval blacksmith too, with its array of weapons on show, oh and the dead and skinned black bear in the bedroom!
Anyway actually like this more than I thought I would, might consider it.
Yep, I definitely need to snap my fingers in the not so distant future so that a parcel with this thing arrives at my doorstep. :-)
Oh so this looks so much better than that first image. May now need to get Iron Mans helmet too which is just finished talking myself out of wanting.
I am Inevitable.
And now, after 22 years, can we please please finally have a Royal Naboo Cruiser..?!
I've been trying to decide what to spend my birthday money on...not anymore! I'm totally picking this up!
What a parts pack!

SAME. What is the release date?
Can it flip the bird?
I don't buy any Marvel related sets, but this is an exception. This is beautiful and looks to be a great display piece.
The drum metallic gold looks so good.
Especially compared to what the 2 tints Pearl Gold are/were in the past 5 years or so, which was very inconsistent , and some parts had especially visible marks (1x2 tiles had some sort of V shaped mark on them, which I assume is from moulding).
Would love to see drum laquered Gold Crown and Longsword , not as shiny as 6008 : Royal King but chrome eventually flaked off.
So why is there even pearl gold or silver if we can have it drum lacquered?

Looks even better in the flesh!
Wonderfully looking set, the box art really does it a disservice.
So much gold! I need this as a parts pack :)
2 questions:
1. Will it fit an average sized adult hand?
2. Do they provide alternate instructions to build it for the right hand? (For left handed people).
I think this is another example of how the official pics can ruin a set. This set looks sooo good! But the official images make it look disproportionate, and downright ugly. I love it, and will totally try to buy it
Lots of awesome colors going on in the parts in many of the sets being reviewed of late. I’m excited for a ton of these.
This will go well with the Iron Man helmet I bought last year...

Indeed, that will adorn my living room.
"I think the price of £59.99 or $69.99 represents fair value"
"A small price to pay for salvation"
"Did you do it?"
"Yes"
"What did it cost?"
"£59.99 plus shipping"
*looks at wallet*
"I'm sorry, little one"
Well, I'm out of Thanos quotes for now, but I want this set!

I do agree the box looks a lot worse compared to review photos.
I think it goes both ways, many renders of sets official pictures try to make things look better, especially was the case during the Pearl Gold color tint switch around 2018, the final wave of Nexo Knight sets were affected a lot having 2 tints of gold with spots in them, while box renders looked solid single color.
I don't blame LEGO however, as apparently the pearl gold changes were for more reasons then just color (structural perhaps?)
I do hope this new laquered gold will be used more and more when possible, especially on studless parts it looks amazing, like ingots and tiles.
Worst offender of box art goes to Speed Champions however, where they have Stickered Headlights glow as if they are LED or something *shrug*
This set is inevitable.
Now THIS... does put a smile on my face ;)
I can’t believe no one said it yet after almost 50 comments but this gauntlet sculpture looks fantastic and the range of movement is more than expected. Heck, even the amount of actual gold pieces is more than I expected originally.

What I'm wondering is: Can it hook the horns? Can it do a Vulcan salute? (I know, wrong universe. But there have been Marvel/Trek crossovers before!)
A weird glitch has just happened where all minifigures have been removed??
But the real question is:
Can it flip the bird?
This is my favorite set from a theme I can't stand. Looks pretty darn good, and all that gold.

The difference is that this isn’t a real piece of military equipment. It’s a shiny glove with some rocks on it from a comic book. I think that’s a pretty clear distinction. (I do agree that the Osprey cancellation is frustrating and bizarre, but it’s consistent with LEGO guidelines.)

Which inevitably is going to be a daily post from random users on LEGO Reddit for the next 6 months: "Ha ha check out what I did look LOL".
@Huw, who did you sacrifice in order to get that soul stone?
I'm just waiting on someone turning it into a wearable gauntlet :)

No only half of them
@merman said:

It takes more effort and cuts into LEGO's profit margin.
Actually, considering their preference for cheaping out on most things, it feels like a miracle that this set was made the way it was (and for the RRP they decided on).

Oh haha, that's funny! But seriously they've gone haha
I'd rather get this one:

Indeed. One of our 'sinister agents' kindly agreed to acquire the Marvel sets on our behalf.
With regard to questions about various other poses, I have resisted the urge to create any rude gestures but they would certainly be possible!
Now I want a golden C3-PO to match the 75308 R2-D2! Really there is no excuse anymore ;o)
I'm always impressed by the photography in the reviews on Brickset, but this has to be one of the greatest contrasts between how bad the official photos look and how good yours look. I figured I would probably want this set, but your pictures have guaranteed it.
It looks amazing for sure. I don't love $70. $60 for sure...but how much will I hem and haw over $10...
But definitely will be a purchase for many in the near future (or whenever it is released in US).
I'd like to know why the mold for gold ingots isn't just completely smooth on top? What's the purpose of those two indents (one has the LEGO logo inside it, but that could of been moved to the underside like on 1x2 tiles IMO). Would look so much nicer completely smooth on top.
And I wonder if the parts chosen to get the lacquered treatment are limited to finishing parts (i.e. those without extensive amounts of studs) where the need for a separate mold could be avoided, possibly due to exceeded tolerances for connections between two lacquered parts with the added dimensions even a thin layer of lacquer incurs.
Spectacular French-Angle Shot for the title image!!!
Have already...bought too many...LEGO sets! Must...get...Infinity Gauntlet...so I have the power...to resist...buying...The Infinity Gauntlet!
Just found these at House of Fraser here in the UK, worth looking. They seem to have a new LEGO section in store now.
Itd be amazing if the stones where able to light up

and I'm pretty sure it can chip off in rough play, which is not something they'd want for a toy (which most of their products are)
Great set. The ability to make it into different poses is definitely a plus in my book. Will definitely be picking it up Day 1, along with all the other Infinity Saga sets.
At first look and even after several more looks, the design looks very captivating (although I might be the odd ones, having not watched the movie itself). Nicely done here and the golden bricks will definitely be useful for many other MOCs!
