Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 3627 Bonnie Bunny , released in 1983. It's one of 8 Fabuland sets produced that year. It contains 18 pieces and 1 minifig.
It's owned by 214 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.
Help me come to life! If you like the set I've chosen for you today, please pledge your support for me on LEGO Ideas so I have a chance of becoming an official LEGO set!

Bonnie Bunny, watering her poppies to slowly drug the citizens of Fabuland, nothing suspicious here. Nothing suspicious at all...
What’s with the crown-shaped cutout? It looks like it’s supposed to be used to hang this on a peg, but you can clearly see the contents of the box peeking out. Also, did they put a roll bar in front of the driver? Those usually go right behind the seats so it’ll sit closer to your head and offer more protection.
Her companion figure, Clyde Cow, is notably absent from this set, but both are included with the Fabuland Bank playset
@MCLegoboy I always thought of Bonnie as a bit of a hippie so you could be right with them being 'special' plants.
I love the old cars in this theme. I might have this one actually, but not the figure. It would be cool if Lego did a modern Fabuland with proper minifigures, still animals though for kids.
@Mr__Thrawn:
Bank job gone wrong, and only she got away?

Ooh, I just had a great idea: ima stab you through the heart with a flower stem. Death by daffodil. That’s what I’m thinking about right now.
@PurpleDave: It's a windshield- Fabuland sets don't seem to have transparent pieces at all. Or it IS a rollbar, because without windshields, you're a lot more likely to swallow a bug and then crash your vehicle!
I like that watering can piece but highly suspect it is long gone!
Fabuland nightmare fuel set.
A+.
We need a UCS Fabuland.

Chima was NOT Fabuland in any respect. I mean a pre-war village with house based/civilian sets as seen here. (as opposed to the conflict based City line where there are always 'problems' to be solved eg catch crooks, fires, broken vehicles, races etc.)
Basically here's a nice animal about the house or around town (eg Richard Scary books) rather then "Hey! A man has fallen in the river in Lego City!"
We’re they to reboot this theme, it’d be fun if she were Scottish.
@PurpleDave @Brickchap not to mention that female Fabuland characters are decently clothed…
Best Speed Champions Set Ever.

Early prototype for formula 1 halo. Early testing done on animals.
Didn't this set introduce the color Tan/Brick Yellow?
My sister had this - pieces all still in a box in the attic. Or maybe it was 3624 which looks identical? Not sure what the reason is for set number differing, packaging perhaps. Anyway, good solid Fabuland effort here.

The stuff you see through the hole is clearly not anything present in the set, it's some other lego pieces (if it is lego at all? - I don't recognize it) that were behind it when the photograph was taken.

??
Those are some low standards for what constitutes "nightmare fuel", my friend.
I’m not sure a flower going -through- the heart like that is quite the symbol of romance Lego was hoping for there. Seems a threat more than anything
@Brickalili in my Fabuland world Robby Rabbit was dating Gertie Goat. Maybe Bonnie was a bit jealous of Gertie but if I remember correctly Bonnie and Robby were cousins so errrr.....
Looking back actually I think Bonnie and Hannah Hippo might have had a 'thing' going on (which in my childhood innocence wouldn't have had a clue about). Although Clive Crocodile fancied Hannah and Clara Cow also had a major crush on Robby.
All so soap opera.....
My very first set--and not a single one of the 800+ since--was a Fabuland set, so I love these guys. There's something about their colour-scheme/aesthetic that is timeless: they're lightyears beyond their time, but primitive compared to what we have now and figless, such that they're almost impossible to place.
I would 100% be onboard with some "Fabuland" figs turning up in Collectible packs--modified minifigs, of course, but I can live with that. Actual bipedal talking animals (humans with animal heads--Minotaurs, so to speak) in a Richard Scarry-esque style, rather than what we have: animal costumes.

Was this still the era of sets having different numbering systems either side of the Atlantic? I know it was the case for a lot of the oldest Space, Castle, etc. sets, but I couldn't tell you if it was still in effect by this point or not... that was still several years before my time!
A fair number of the Fabuland sets look like they have multiple entries in the database under different set numbers, though; so I'd guess it was something like that was the case?
On another note: I can never decide how I feel about Fabuland. Something about it feels nostalgic to me, even though it was before my time - mostly because I remember having a few episodes of the TV show recorded on VHS - but the sets themselves aren't particularly appealing to me. So I'm sort of on the fence between "I want to like this... but I kinda feel like I don't?"

Blimey was this The CW’s Fabuland or something?
@TomKazutara:
That's right for Earth Orange/Light Orange Brown and "(Proto) Lime" (I'm assuming you meant the Fabuland Lime/Pastel Green that was also used for a few Duplo parts in 1986).
If by brown you mean the classic pre-2004 brown that was commonly used for many Minifigure and Bionicle sets, then that's not correct. Brown (25 Earth Orange) brooms did appear in Town one year prior to Fabuland^^
Fabuland however did introduce two other colors that were sort of brown: 4 Brick Red/Fabuland Brown and 19 Light Orange/Fabuland Orange.
Also Fabuland introduced the colors 18 Nougat/Flesh (the original 'flesh' tone color for Duplo/Belville/Scala figures and even the NBA figures from 2003) and 13 Red Orange/Fabuland Red.
Brick Yellow/Tan however is the only color that saw wide-spread use up until today (Nougat/Flesh only recently became a bit more common).
And it turned out I was wrong, since the color was introduced in 3635 (Bonnie Bunny's Camper) 2 years earlier :(
Also Tan was oddly discontinued from 1990-1995 much like Teal was from 2006-2017...
I really enjoy reading comments on older sets featured in RSOTD. My LEGO knowledge base prior to 2005ish is extremely limited. It wasn’t the thing I was into growing up for the most part, though I had some. So reading product facts and people’s experiences is great for someone who is…what’s the best way to put it? On the outside looking in when it comes to older LEGO.
@Brickalili Real Housewives of Fabuland maybe?
Back in them days the only soap I watched was Brookside. Not sure if I buried any Fabu Folks under the patio though....
@Brickchap:
So, you don’t think the raccoons are burglars, the crocs/gators are serial killers, and this bunny is running a drug cartel? Now who’s being naive, Kate...I mean @Brickchap?
@Brickalili:
I know the image of a hippie girl inserting a flower into a cop’s rifle barrel has been repeated through various works of fiction (one that I remember is during the opening credits to Watchmen). I think it was The Simpson’s where it was Chief Wiggum’s revolved, which he then fires (accidentally?), embedding the flower stem in the forehead of whoever put it there (Moe?). That’s all I can think of when I see that impaled heart.
AHHHH! WHERE’S BONNIE HE LEFT THE STAGE OHNONONO QUICK CHECK THE CAMS CLOSE THE DOOR CLOSE THE DOOR!!!

Wait, what? Fabuland had a TV show?
Blimey, I never knew LEGO TV shows were even a thing before I heard about Ninjago having one.
And even by that I was gobsmacked. I watched quite a bit of television as a kid (all of three available channels back in the day), yet I can't remember seeing anything LEGO related on TV other than commercials.
I do remember lots of other stuff though such as Transformers, MASK, Masters of the Universe, etc.
Fond memories indeed.

Yep! It was a claymation-style animation thing made by a British company, so I don't know how widely-known it was; it was called Edward and Friends, with Edward Elephant being the titular character. It aired in the late 80s, so a little before my time still, but my parents had a few episodes recorded on VHS that I have vague memories of watching.
I don't think, at the time, I even knew that it was Lego, though; that realisation only hit me several years later, when I first saw Fabuland sets existed... and by then, I wasn't sure if the show had been real or if I'd just imagined it! It was only when it came up on a previous RSotD a while ago that I realised it had been real.
