I mean...it’s a building, and not even the whole building at that.

Well, this is what the White House originally was, the wings were added way later as the job became more and more intense and complicated.
Don't let the authorities catch you with one of these, they'll think you're an insurrectionist.
In 2010 Lego released a model of The White House flying the white flag of surrender. Interesting.

Sad part is this isn't a joke.
For context, someone got arrested for supposedly being in the capitol riots and the law enforcement used him owning this set as evidence. Yeah, no joke.
Let's hope the comments are more like "My Dad" than Politics.......

I looked it up. It was 21030, not this.

Yes.

@MCLegoboy:
Except that’s not really true. The original White House had alterations, got burned by British invaders, restored, and had further alterations before the East and West Wings were added. Jefferson added colonnades before the fire, and the porticos came afterwards. There may be a point in history when this is what the entire White House looked like, but you’d need a real historian to say whether all the additions present on this model were completed before the first wing was added.
I have this set. Pretty basic.
I can imagine for some people that had this set on a sunny window display in a hot climate for 11 years straight, it could be the "Yellowed House" by now.
A nice model, but somewhat basic. The new one is a large improvement in my opinion.
So it was the only one released that year? Interesting.
All these comment about politics, not a single mention about how this is an enemy Stand
yeah, he wasn't arrested because he had the Lego set.
What happened to the Architecture theme this year? Is LEGO done with it? Anyone know why only one set has been released. Is the theme over?
As much as I appreciate this line and what it strives to be, to me it seems (especially in the early days) to be mostly a collection of basic parts with an ultra-expensive printed tile. As it matured, later releases of the series would include new and interesting elements though.
@MeisterDad:
In the early days it was a partnership between The LEGO Company and former LEGO Certified Professional Adam Reed Tucker. He came up with the idea, pitched it to them, designed all the first wave if sets...and got a cut of the sales. So that was an added cost they normally don’t deal with, outside of Ideas, of course. Then all the instructions were printed white on black. As someone with experience in the printing industry explained, it takes something like 4-5 complete passes with different colors to achieve the “rich black” that they use for Architecture instruction backgrounds because just printing black will end up looking very, very dark grey instead. That’s a ridiculous amount of ink, plus it really slows the printing process down (not only do you have to do complete passes multiple times, but the page needs to dry between passes). And they were intended for high-priced tourist stands, so MSRP had to be set at a level where the retailers could make enough of a profit margin to be willing to devote shelf space to the sets. It all adds up. So, yeah, sets like the Sears Tower especially seemed silly, but they sold well enough at the time to warrant a very long run for the theme.

Those days are long gone. Recently, they supported a few political organizations for better or worse, such as the Black Lives Matter organization. Don't tell me that's not a political thing to do.
Yeah, is it just me, or are the LEGO Group starting to break their own rules? Well, I guess that always happens when you become one of the biggest corporations in the world.

Not a joke, but a misleading way of putting it. Looking at the link rljf311 gave, the individual in question owning the set was incidental, the arrest was down to the mountain of evidence including basically a literal "how to mount an insurrection" checklist. The set was just grabbed among with a ton of other far more incriminating things

I haven’t read the manga or gotten past Part 1 but I love it when JoJo references are actually relevant. Yare Yare Daze! Jotaro! Sonadabee— okay, I’ll stop. I don’t have anything to add about the set, it’s the White House I guess. Someone important lives there or something, I’m in the same country as them. The White House is a white house, like how a greenhouse is a green… no, wait, that’s made of glass.

I hope they're preparing for some old school Architecture sets, like https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-86714/Fanpeixi/giovannitti-house-of-richard-meier/details for instance.

The reason Architecture stopped this year, is that Lego prommised to stop having black backgrounds in the instructions. And architecture can only happen in black.
This is a joke btw. I hope architecture will continue with more sets in 2022, but it won't be the same without the black booklets.
Both in this set as well as the new one, the roof is black, while on the real White House the roof appears to be a different colour. I wonder why they didn't go with dark bluish grey at least instead. Light bluish grey might even be better still.

Maybe all the existing multiple microscale famous buildings in different cities are taking longer to sell to the tourists, with all the Lego shops closed for most of the last two years?
When someone mentions Lego Architecture I think more of all those original obscure architect buildings (which I hope appear as a RSOD soon) as seemed a very brave move for Lego to move away from the usual tourist sites. Although I have a feeling that the high secondary prices now are a reflection of possible limited availability at the time.
Still waiting for the Kremlin

It is rumoured that it is partly replaced with the lego botanicals collection
i want this set baldy

I think Black is the best color. The real color might be a little different, but it’s the usual Lego scenario of where a color doesn’t exist that is exact, and this is the best. Any shade of blue would look too out of place I think, and I’m assuming most people would say the roof is black anyways.
I'm surprised they didn't do the Twin Towers yet (despite not being around anymore).

I'd rather have the Twin Towers of Wembley Stadium... also not around anymore!

Well if that's the case I am sorry to see the theme go. I have bought one botanicals set but I really did enjoy the architecture line.

Tsk tsk~~
It was actually us Canadians that burned it down~
I bought this set before the prior election & then ordered custom Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton minifigures to go with it. I added a fence out in front of it & had the minifigs advance closer to the fence gate as the election got closer. Co-workers thought it was fun to see who had advanced closer each day.

That's be like the world map not having anything west of Europe, because that's how maps used to be

Why? In every image I could find as well as Google maps the roof looks light bluish grey. Not even like dark grey and most certainly not black. It just looks so weird and wrong and out of place, just like the new sand green roofs in the current Hogwarts sets.
I have so many Architecture sets, but I am not going to get the new one (nor this version) as it looks completely unrecognizable to me with that black roof.

Uhm... that new building is a lot more interesting. The Twin Towers are literally two rectangles with windows.

I’ve been there before, and frankly you can’t really even see the roof from the street or outside. I think the black contrasts well with the white and makes it more distinctive looking. I also find it hard to believe that it’s unrecognizable with a black roof, that seems like a bit of a stretch…
@Deedesria:
Exactly. Like I said, the British.
I used to watch this show called America: Fact or Fiction. They’d start out each episode by asking if you remembered learning this, that, and the other thing about some particular historical event, and it would take about ten seconds to list off all the particulars. And they’d cap off this opening line by telling you none of it actually happened.
They did an episode about Paul Revere’s famous ride. He was actually one of I think four riders, most of whom (including himself) didn’t even succeed, but he’s the name everyone remembers because years after the fact someone wrote a poem about it for a newspaper and decided his name sounded the best. But the other thing ai really remember from that episode is the bit about calling out, “The British are coming!” That’s also from the poem, and they said he never would have used those words because...Paul Revere was British. So was Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington, and even Alexander Hamilton (a certain Broadway musical has put it in peoples’ minds that Hamilton was an immigrant, but in reality he was born a British citizen in one British colony and simply moved to another British colony before it declared independence). Canada didn’t gain independence until 1867, and the White House was burned in 1814. At the time, for any purpose like taxes, goods, or services owed the Crown, they were all British citizens. Only for representation and talking smack were they colonists. That’s the whole point of the War of 1812. Even after the US had declared independence, forced the British to surrender and vacate the premises, formed not one but _two_ national governments, and entered international relations with the UK’s neighbors, King George still sent ships to conscript Americans into the British navy because (services owed the Crown), we were all still British citizens in his mind. And any Canadian units were operating under the oversight of British regulars at some level.
If the red house is on the right and the blue house is on the left, where is the white house?

Over here, when the White House is shown, for example on the news, they often show aerial shots of it.
And unless you place the set at eye level on your shelf or in your display cabinet, you normally look at it from above, so the roof is very prominent. Sure, black gives a lot of contrast, but as it's not accurate at all, I'd rather have dbg or lbg as the colour. But hey, money saved. At least I've got the Capitol, which to me is more interesting of a building anyway. With that I only had to MOC the dome as the proportions were quite wrong. Looks great now.

I agree, the Capitol is a much more interesting building overall and I would buy that before the White House.
5/10 for effort.

I would love a twin towers set. Amazing buildings. I always wanted to visit them as a kid after seeing them in Home Alone 2.
I finally got to visit New York in 2004 - too late unfortunately.
An official twin towers set will never happen but I don’t think it would be THAT difficult to build your own tbh.
