We need a fun theme like this or adventurers again

Why waste time burrowing beneath your skin when you can just peel it off completely?

Well it's this guy's fault for cooking such a delicious drumstick! Also, attack? I see only one person here with weapons. This scarab looks scary, but he's just hungry, no need to make things violent.

When I was new to sorting through bulk lots in 2017 (I bought that particular lot for the 7994 in it), this was one of my first unexpected finds. It was not complete, but I did eventually complete it and it does hold a special place in my heart for representing the challenge and joy that bulk lots can provide.

Johnny Thunder > Jake Raines though.

By in Australia,

I did like Pharaoh's Quest.

The worst thing was timing, the sets used lots of reddish-brown and dark-red. I was cleaning and dusting them, a little while ago, and a lot of the reddish-brown pieces just cracked and broke.

Quick Pharaoh's Quest lore. Amset-Ra was a mummified Pharaoh that was gifted six golden treasures by an alien race long ago. Now that he has reawakened he has begun seeking out those treasures to reinstate his power, while heroes such as Jake Raines here try to capture the treasures first.

Much of Amset-Ra's army consisted of giant stone statues brought to life, such as this scarab. That piece of gold in the chest is also apparently one of the six treasures despite not being armor, jewelry, OR a weapon, so I have no idea how he was supposed to wear it and take it's power.

As for the set itself I adore this scarab build. It's one of my favorite sets from my childhood, so simple yet fun. The build actually reappeared (maybe even with the same prints) as a boss in LEGO Dimensions during the Scooby Doo level.

Pharaoh’s Quest was great. I’m not sure how well it sold, but I’m sure it would go gangbusters nowadays with the nostalgia for Adventurers.

I get Blue Beetle (the DC Character) vibes from this.

Huh. This was during my dark period, so I had no idea this line even existed. It reminds me a lot of the early Adventurer sets.

Random part in 1383 "Curse of the Pharoah" and now a Pharoah's quest set. Huwbot seems to like Egypt today - or should I say tonight?

By in Brazil,

I remember wanting so much to get 7307, 7325 and 7326 back when this theme was released. But unfortunatelly it came in the early days of my dark ages, when I was growing up and, motivated by my family, thought I was already too old to buy new Lego sets. Not gonna lie, I really wish for a new Adventurers-like theme because of this.

No, I don't want no scarab
A scarab is a bug that can't get no love from me
Hanging out in Pharaoh's Quest, taking on Jake Raine's best
Trying to attack me...

Small, simple, and yet so wholesome!

Those two blue printed pieces are exclusive to this set. That’s some nice little detailing.

Great set! One of the first I bought post dark ages. This theme was one of my favorites and still holds up very well. Makes me miss these unlicensed sets rich in narrative and historical connection.

By in Croatia,

I have quite a lot of fond memories with this particular set. Back in the day, I remember a friend of mine getting it, and I was super jealous, because I couldn't find any of the Pharaoh's Quest sets on sale anywhere. All the retail stores where stockpiled with Ninjago sets instead, and this line was available only for a very short time, in very small quantities. But thankfully, I managed to get this set just shortly after the line got retired, from a more obscure site called Clever Toys.
I absolutely loved it as a kid. The Scarab is such a simple, yet effective build, and the big printed piece on the back with all the Egyptian hieroglyphs was insane for me at the time, because I was used to only used getting stickers for more elaborate designs like that one. On top of that, I absolutely loved the Jake Rains minifigure's design, with his badass ammo belt printing.

For me, this line was the true star of 2011, not Ninjago. I didn't even care about Ninjago that much at the time besides the spinners (I didn't even got into watching the show until like... Season 5), but I played the hell out of the Pharaoh's Quest Flash Game on LEGO.com, which still remains one of my personal favorite LEGO Flash Games to this day. So, I can definitely say that this line, despite being so short lived, had the same impact on me as the Adventures theme had on everyone else a decade prior. Too bad it was released at the exact same time as Ninjago, causing it to retire after being available for barely a few months.

Oh, don't worry, if Johnny Thunder was supposed to be LEGO's version of Indiana Jones, than Jake Raines was definitely supposed to be their version of Rick O'Connell from the Mummy.

Both characters definitely have their place within the LEGO Universe :-)

Pharaoh's Quest and Alien Conquest were my childhood. I spent dozens of hours playing with these guys. The scarab design was so effective. Cute, too.

Little? It’s bigger than a person! If I were enjoying my dinner around a campfire in the Egyptian desert and a beetle of unusual size with hieroglyphs on its back approached, damn right I’d attack it!

It’s funny when posters say that sets like this were part of their childhood. I was well into middle age when it came out :~S

The scarab from this set made it into my display collection, specifically the horror-fantasy Egyptian section (mummies etc). It’s still there. I believe I bought two of this set, so should have one that is MISB.

By in United Kingdom,

I’m surprised I never actually had this set. I was quite into the Pharaoh’s Quest line as it gave me nostalgia vibes for Adventurers, but for reason this nifty little bug never made it into my collection

The subject of ancient mythologies will always be cool. Unfortunately I was in my dark ages when this theme ran its course so I missed out on the cool jackal heads.
Nowadays Lego seems more keen to shove everything inside the Ninjago universe, which is how we got the Aspheera story arc.
On a related note, Johnny Thunder really needs to make a comeback, with his own animated series too.

This set was one of my stranger retail finds.... only 3 years ago!
It was a local newsagents shop. The box was slightly crumpled and it was in one of the 'reduced' items baskets at only £2. The shop was closing down so I guess they'd found it in the back room, fallen between shelves or something. I wasn't aware the they had ever sold Lego though I know larger premises of the same chain did.
That kind of find gives a little spark of excitement!

By in United Kingdom,

This was in my dark ages too, but that scarab design is great! Simple, but elegant. I agree we need more one off adventure themes. Maybe keep the rag tag group of adventurers the same and change the locale? Can Johnny Thunder put a crew together??

By in Belgium,

Not this set, but still Pharaoh's Quest: 7326 Rise of the Sphinx was one of the first sets I bought for my children and it was so well liked I even wrote a review (also my first) on it here! I bought it on clearance either very late 2013 or early 2014 so waaaay past the official (as stated here on Brickset) end date of January 2012 and have not regretted it as it has remained one of their favourite sets as well. :-)

By in Belgium,

Hahaa, there's Jake Raines! Wonderful little set and only the opener for the marvelous Pharaoh's Quest theme!

Was released in my dark ages as well but bought this only 2 years ago, along with the obelisk tower, the sphinx AND the pyramid (for a huge amount but i had to have it!) in MINT condition. Still proud to have it.

This set marks one of those themes like Atlantis, Alien Conquest and Monster Fighters designed in a time when LEGO made just wonderful little stories with treasures to find or secure and great looking villains (the mummies in this theme are wonderful!). It makes you just wanna have every set of the line! (at least, that counts for me).

Now we get Hidden Side and Vidiyo, which have stories about ... playing on your smartphone.

Pharaoh's Quest is a bit less "hard science" than Adventurers--not that anyone should confuse the design of the Adventurers sets for being historically accurate, but they did tend to limit the supernatural to the Mummy. Something like this giant scarab would never have appeared there (I could have seen a 2-stud long actual scarab being the kind of thing they made, not unlike the scorpions we did get).

Adventurers's original Egyptian subtheme being one of my all-time favourite themes, I was simultaneously excited for Pharaoh's Quest (and would love a third iteration of "explorers of the ancient Nile"), but that preference for the a-touch-less-supernatural earlier form did lead to me missing out on this set, even though it was definitely in my price-range at a time when I really did have to limit my purchases.

I completely relate! I was the same, I LOVED the look and vibe of this theme - the Ancient Egypt aesthetic has long been appealing to me, ever since I a) studied it at school in Year 3 and b) discovered the classic Adventurers wave at practically the same time - so this was EASILY the most appealing thing in the 2011 Lego catalogue, to me. Especially 7326, with that fantastic Sphinx, and 7327, since Adventurers had never had a pyramid in its Egypt wave. And also because of those cool jackal-headed guards.

Only, like you, I was on my way into, perhaps even fully in, my 'dark age' by then. Those two sets definitely lingered on my 'wanted' list at the time; but I was at university by then and just didn't have the inclination to buy Lego any more, after already a couple of years of actively pursing other interests more instead. So they kind of just slipped by me.

Was Jake Raines supposed to be Johnny Thunder's son, by any chance? There's definitely some kind of family resemblance there... plus, he follows the trend of adventurers characters with weather-themed names / aliases!

One of the few themes in the last 20 years that I have been excited about. Love the theme and wish there had been more.

Nexo Knight game had fire scarabs that looked a lot like this, but never were made in brick form.

Pharaoh's Quest and Monster Fighters were two of the best original themes made in the last 20 years by Lego. Too bad, that they had no long life expectancy.
