Kind of like Kangaroo Jack!

"X Stream" is one of the more intriguing variations I've heard of the word "Extreme".

If that striped tile is supposed to represent a finish line, I doubt very much this hopper will fit between the pylons.

What is a desert hopper anyway? Some kind of storage unit for sand?

I think the striped tile is meant to say "Road Closed- Do Not Enter".

The vehicle is going right for it. Ah! It will hop the sign. Clever…

I think "[X]stream" is just an indication that there is no water in that desert.

TYCO Turbo Hopper, in LEGO form!

Ah, the legendary warning: "JUMP AHEAD"... located on the jump. How useful.

It's on a ramp, surely it should be Desert Jumper?

@brickengineeringdude:
I hear you’re supposed to _not_ X the streams. Something about total protonic reversal or whatever.

By in Australia,

Hmm. Huwbot's on a "Cars jumping off oddly-positioned ramps" kick at the moment.

By in Australia,

I owned this set. Was never much interested in the 'Technic' car, although I loved the roadwork sign. Sadly it's all peeled off now. (stickers from that era disintegrate really easily for some reason).

I once used the yellow X Stream parts on a MOC submarine.

By in Turkey,

I liked Racers theme, they were exciting. I'm not a fan of pull-back motors though.

My first ever Lego set was 8491 from the same sub-theme as today's RSOTD.

Does that say “crifish” on the side there? That the sort of animal you get in an X Stream? Must be a freshwater variety

By in Croatia,

10$ seems like such a perfect price for a set like this... I really wish LEGO still did substantial sets in that price range today. It feels like nowdays, the cheapest sets you can get are always 20$ (Cough, cough, Vidyo...) and the sets that are below 10$ always feel ridiculously small for their price (like the latest City Stuntz sets, for instance).
The play value is pretty amazing too, unlike many modern LEGO sets. I do own one of the cars from this particular wave, and pulling them back and having them jump on the ramps is so much fun!

It says "CellFish".

No, me neither.

Unlike the current Technic version, this pull back motor seems to be really easier to integrate into system Lego that you don't realize it is there. So seems a shame that after appearing in 29 sets from 2003 to 2010 it was last seen in blue in Toy Story 7590.

Oh like “selfish”? Not quite sure why you’d want that on your rally car but okay

Just guessing here, maybe a fuel cell brand? Could be a battery manufacturer too, automotive batteries have internal cells. X-Stream sounds like they'd be an aerodynamics manufacturer.

I really like all the different sponsor brands Lego's come up with lol, I like Octan but the variety is a little more realistic

There was a flash game featuring these sets called "Ramp Age"
