Good old World City.
No doors... We're NASCARing this!
Really enjoy the City Coast Guard sets. Hope they do more at some point!
Got this one. I keep thinking that minifig is a really messy drinker.

2008, 2013 and 2017. We are about due.
I love that minifig face. Real nice beard

Guess this is the NCGRTS (NASCAR Coast Guard Rescue Truck Series)

This isn't from the World City theme, this is just plain old City.
Huh, seeing this set again kinda awakened a deep memory of my early LEGO years.
I never got this set or sets like it when they were around, but I remember seeing this one in the catalogue and thinking it was really neat.
My first LEGO set I ever bought with my own money. I suddenly have a strong desire to rebuild it. Seeing this set made my night! Thanks @Huwbot for such a great pick:)
Lego just LOVES orange warning lights dont they? Theyre mounted on the truck roof, and if thats not enough, some more on the trailer!
"Jet Scooter"????...Guess 'Jet Ski' is a trademark...
Coast Guard sets always have done intriguing stuff in them. I don’t think I picked up this particular set, but I have a few.
Ooh, those wheel arches on that 4WD look awkward.
Now that is a flip-mobile, if I ever saw one. I’m pretty sure just activating your turn signal would be enough to destabilize it, never mind actually adjusting the steering.
Basicly 60286: Beach Rescue ATV
Loved this set back in the day! Probably should rebuild it soon.
Doors would have been nice, even if we don't ever use it. Cars became 6 studs and they still don't have doors. Meybe it's time for a new door element. And one other thing, when is the last time you have seen a town/city car with a sun roof? I want to see either glass-top, or sunroof (operable if possible) in new desings please.
Surf ‘n’ turf!
What the... those wheel arches look so awkward, makes this set look like quick build by a 6 year old.
The minifigure face reminds me of Fred Flintstone.

The 00s just feel weird, to me. Like I carry the feeling that World City lasted until the 10s, even though it barely was half of that.

World City is the middle child between Town and City. They were both long lasting themes but World City only lasted 2 years.
Still looks good.
I don't have this set specifically but I think the Coast Guard subtheme is pretty cool.
Great simple set on its own or to expand your lifeguard boat, helicopter rescue center. Strange unable to find any photos of the minifig inside the car, probably as a really tight fit which may explain why the suspension needed to be raised so he could keep his cap on, although I was hoping that they were hiding some clever new suspension?
Is it just me (bias?) that it seems like Huw-bot is skewed towards digging up sets from the past before say 2010? I rarely see sets from the past decade come by.
I can imagine when considering the whole database over all the decades that may be expected, but mind you there are many more different sets being produced nowadays so you could also imagine, on the contrary, that Huw-bot digs up relatively more sets from the past decade.
Have no issue with it, just curious. I came out of my dark ages in 2011 (and went in there around 1985) so anything in-between resonates less with me.

I think the sets have to be at least 10 years old before they can be picked for random set of the day.
OMG! I had this one as a kid, glad to refresh some memories!

Indeed it does. In order to be eligible, the set has to have at least 10 parts, have an image available, be at least 10 years old, not be from the basic, educational, preschool or miscellaneous themes, and not have already been selected.

I had the 2013 version at least (60012)

World City was the rebound relationship after fandom broke up with Town, before we settled down with City.

With Doors! :)
Good value for $10, but what's the oversized antenna for, anyway?

Thanks for clarifying!
