"Friends" sets are now eligible, but it's like Huwbot just doesn't quite want to commit. I think this set is a nice idea, but the lack of walls or an actual real structure bothered me as a kid, and it still does.

Also, why is that one tower on backwards? How would you even get into that room?

By in United States,

Is that a pet Polar Bear Cub with the face of a Wolf?!
And what is that Arctic Butterfly Monster?
And then there's just a normal Owl... with no printing.
Okay...

Let it... go?

By in Brazil,

I was thinking of buying 43197 today and then this appeared. Coincidence?

By in Australia,

There is an unattached swing piece at the foot of the bed with something hanging from the top bar. Hangman’s noose?

By in Canada,

Orange carpeting. How quaint.

Not going to lie... I've never seen this baseplate before and I kind of really want one now.

What for? I don't know. But I love me some raised baseplates.

The twist is that Huwbot prefers the girl-targeted themes from the good old days, like Clikits, and loathes Friends for "replacing" them. Similarly very few Ninjago sets have been picked, likely because Huwbot is traumatized for having his algorithm rigged to pick one.

Wow that is some powerful prophecy right there.

Truly a roller coaster of strangeness.

By in Canada,

"How many times have I told you, no skiing in the palace!"

This set came with a butterfly hair clip, and an awesome baseplate, I love it.

By in Italy,

I am an Arsenal fan, so no Crystal Palace to me, thanks.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That king has a little Captain in him.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Some Bellville lore.

In 2002 the Prince lived in a Royal crystal palace. Now, after a messy divorce and a series of unsavoury scandals, he lives a simple life as a private citizen.

By in Croatia,

Not gonna lie, that raised baseplates is based!

By in Netherlands,

Yes! Six sided ice crystals. Good job LEGO!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ah yes everyone remembers this as the setting from Dosney’s Freezed, where Olsa sings the beloved song “Let It Out”

Welcome to raised baseplates side.
This baseplate has a winter (this on) and a summer version happy hunting
5862 and 5858 also have nice baseplates and they are a pain to store.

By in United States,

Got this for my preschool daughter after she was transfixed by it either at the Legoland shop in Carlsbad or Disney in California. The open play area seemed right for her play style along with the larger characters.

The original owl piece has moulded detail, no printing

We have this one in the roof somewhere. I'm amazed no one has mentioned the magnificent printed chef's hat desserts on the table! In chrome dishes no less!

30+ years before this set was released, orange carpets were considered cool. I’m not sure why we thought that at the time, but we did :~P

By in United States,

Cold theme with orange parts (sorry, trans-orange) from 2002? This is obviously an Ice Planet set.

By in Netherlands,

I must say, that background is absolutely beautiful.

It's nice to see so much interior to a castle, but I always wondered how complete it would look from the back and I found this:

There's stairs leading to that tr medium blue wall/window!
Sets 7577 and 5808 therefore make better use of the baseplate and look more complete because of it:

Interesting...?

By in United Kingdom,

Assuming this is an enchanted castle where the inside of the rooms appear outdoors.
The wine pitcher, glass, chrome plates, chrome crown etc. would be very useful today. Fabuland car radiators for the back of the chairs is different.

All I really care about is that I see what looks like a trans-light-blue 8x8 plate. I wanted _one_ of those for one of my Aquaman Vs vignettes (specifically Aquaman Vs Swimming Pool), and there were only a handful listed on Bricklink. I paid around $10 each to buy a few, and what I received was trans-medium-Blue instead. Got a full refund for my trouble, which was actually pretty cool, because trans-medium-blue cost about the same. I did eventually track some down, but I had to start contacting sellers to verify color and quality, since nobody had any in New condition.

@Zander:
30 years before 2002, so 1972? Five years after the Summer of Love, and three years after Woodstock? Everyone was probably still stoned out of their gourds at the time.
