By in Canada,

I got this in a used lot a couple years ago.

Only recently took it apart, because there wasn't many useful parts on it. Some interesting printed parts.

The overall design is much better in pictures. In person, pretty ugly.

That's impressive, the only sticker is the 1x6 tile.

He's a maniac, a maniac! On the street.

And he's driving like he's never driven before.

Maniac? That's a little harsh, isn't it?

This might have been the first pullback lego car I had as a kid, very nostalgic set!

Hmm...the car's got a 'block' engine...and not just in, that the engine's made of Lego; it's BLOCKING the view of the driver...

Although, that might be more 'protective', and 'murderous', than 'maniacal'

It was a typo.
They meant mechanical.

Red, sure, but is it really a maniac, or did it just get labeled that way from a very young age?

By in Turkey,

He has to be a maniac to drive a that death trap of a car with that engine blocking his sight.

Anyone who would drive on a highway engineered to hang on the side of a rock formation like that would have to be a crazy person.

By in Croatia,

This is the LEGO Maniac's personal car that he drives!

It's been exactly 12 days since we last had a RSoTD from this Racers wave.

A nightmare of American old people driving in the 50's. COMMUNIST! MANIAC!

By in Poland,

I have this one. I loved it as a kid. The only sticker is on the rear wing and it's nearly disintegrated, while the prints are in pretty good condition.

I thought it was cool looking and the pull back motor was fun to play.

There's no such thing as too much 80s.

Even more so than that: that background is wonderfully evocative of the 'coolness over common sense' aesthetic of the entire Drome, honestly. In the Legoland '4D theatre' movie, Dromulus - the ruler, who resides in that tall silver tower in the background - even had the ability to reconfigure the race terrain on the fly *in the middle of a race*, so that at any moment the competition could change from speeding through the mountains, like this, to off-road jungle or tundra, or to tightly-packed city streets, with no warning whatsoever. Willingly racing in those conditions could certainly make one worthy of the title of 'maniac'!

...in the other Drome media, such as the video game and the comics, Dromulus merely dictated the setting for each race and didn't have any mystical ability to reconfigure the environment at will, and the Drome was a somewhat more realistic - if still unimaginably large - man-made racing arena that had different regions built to resemble the different environments instead.

Sounds oddly like a villain Wolverine would have fought in his past.
