Review: 30416 Market Stall

Posted by ,

There's a Friends gift with purchase on at the moment, but a much better spending threshold that the other GWP on at the moment: 30416 Market Stall is available with a $40 Friends purchase.

It looks quite attractive with a minidoll and microdoll, plus some market wares. There's a note on the front of the bag that it's a 2 in 1 build as well, so let's take a look at both.

Summary

30416 Market Stall, 54 pieces.

A great polybag that works with several of this year's sets

  • Plenty of printed tiles
  • 2 in 1 build
  • Nothing

The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author.

There are two characters included: Mia and Liz. Mia is wearing the very popular khaki shorts that are found in Heartlake City, as well as a Native American inspired top that's been seen in just two sets before. Liz is wearing the same adorable dress in which we first met her in 41449 Andrea's House.

The market stall has several parts to it. First is a cash box, with same cash (obviously) and a few coins. Nearby is a crate filled with produce, in this case, some apples, grapes and peppers.

The larger stall is a cute build, and features jarred goods with lovely printed 1x1 tiles. The bee pieces have been seen in several Friends sets this year, and there are two strawberry pieces, and no fewer than four waffle pieces, all used as jar lids. There's a bonus bee piece used for the strawberry shaped sign at the top (a lovely use for a heart piece).

The alternate build shows a waffle station, with a stall for the waffles and a nearby station with syrup, toppings, and a cell phone for mobile transactions.

Overall thoughts

This is a nice little polybag available at a low threshold. I like that we have both a minidoll and microdoll included, and fans of food pieces will love this bag as a way of getting more grape and apples. Additionally, there's a nice selection of printed pieces, especially when you consider that extras are provided for all of the 1x1 tiles.

The Market Stall also fits well with some of the sets in the first wave this year, particularly as a complement to the stall in 41702 Canal Houseboat, or the honey kiosk in 41703 Friendship Tree House.

A nice set! I actually might get this one because of all the printed tiles. A nice review also!

Thanks for the review!

The purple"ice cream" element is more like plums in this case than grapes in my opinion. The cherry element makes a better small grape.

This set takes the concept of a "cashbox" literally.

Gonna have to keep an eye out for this.

This is very cute, but where are the peppers? I also wonder what the jars with waffle lids are supposed to represent.

Either way, very cute set that I may pick up. Thanks for the review!

I love these friends polybags, they’re all very well done (btw the girl’s name is Liz, Andrea’s Sister)

Of course! Thank you, I've corrected it.

The peppers are the red claw/tooth pieces- check the set inventory to see them. (I wondered the same thing!)

If the reviewer is going to point that out then it's probably best to actually show them in the review photos.

By in United States,

I got this one for Christmas! In addition to the nice printed parts, this was the first set I'd gotten with one of the "micro-dolls" used for children in recent Friends sets (which are very cute).

Nice little set. It was for sale at a local hobby store for $3.29, unusually low price.
Would be more interesting if the microdoll had a different outfit as its the same as in last years polybag.
