im finna whack these sets with a stone cuz they UGLY!
That guy’s gonna fly out of the seat the moment the plane takes off!
Dark Ages material, for sure.
Cockpits are for wimps.
I know it's obvious or probably common knowledge, but is 71013-14 the minifig version of Jack Stone in his box art near the logo?
Only a true daredevil stuntman would fly this thing. This guy is absolutely out of his mind.
After resigning from the Adventurers due to an irrational fear of dinosaurs and yetis, poor Harry Cane had to resort to starring in 4+ sets just to make ends meet.

No, it’s Dash Justice from Alpha Team.

Ah, I knew it was one of LEGO's 2000's spies, they look kinda similar.
Does this thing at least have a seatbelt?
This is the set!!! I know that I have both wings, but I always assumed they were from an adventurers set, but couldn’t find out which one. Now I know!
I vaguely remember this dumpster fire. I think I got it for a birthday present from a kid in my class.
Hey there, Jackie boy, flying through the air so crappily.
Sweet dreams in flying machines in Lego pieces on the ground.
REAL MEN STAY ON THE PLANE BY HOLDING ONTO THE CONTROL YOKE WITH THEIR MANLY MAN-NESS! MANLY!
Terrible set but good pilot for a Sopwith Camel
This isn’t the LEGO I used to know.. :(
MY EYES!!! HIS GOGGLES, THEY DO NOTHING!!!
Vintage LEGO is 100x better than this rubbish.
The instructions are always the real gem of the Jack Stone sets. This plane turns into a boaty-sort of thing to rescue Jack and another fellow from the world's smallest tropical island.
What were Jack and the other fellow doing on that tropical island?
Wow I never thought my childhood MOCs became sets...
I don't want to sound boastful but frankly at a very young age I was making aeroplanes that were a lot more sophisticated than this, and I'm sure many other people were too.
To be honest I don't know how such a basic set was ever even released, after all, even my very young self would have recognised straight away that this is something I can easily make myself so why buy it?
@Zordboy:
I’m pretty sure at least one of them was thinking of making a bowl of albatross soup.
Probably the thing that confuses me the most about all of the old 4+ sets back in the day was how their instructions were designed. Instead of meticulously showing each individual piece one by one, like what modern Juniors sets do, they just have all the pieces be thrown together at once. Looking at the instructions online, they're honestly kinda hard to follow as an adult, I'm not sure how they expect a young kid to be able to follow them.
@Metroidman97:
Looking at the actual model, I’m not sure they actually cared if kids could replicate it with any degree of precision.
It's been a day. Honestly this was exactly what I needed to see.

Stranded after this weird plane inevitably crashed
I kid you not, I got not one, not two, but THREE copies of this set as a kid for my birthday. My friends and I thought it was hilarious but all the parents seemed embarrassed. At the time I thought it was because they ended up buying the exact same set but now I'm sure it was because they ended up buying Jack Stone sets.
Where we're going, we don't need cockpits!

Yoke? That ... thing has a full-blown steering wheel!
I have it somewhere deep hidden in my storage.

I'm definitely getting old because I'm out of touch with what that slang means

This is basically vintage by now.
This is the cheapest JS set. Figuratively and literally.
I have a feeling the pilot had chicken for dinner...
This looks so clunky and dated yet the Fabuland red plane from 18 years EARLIER is a fantastic work of beauty.
@Metroidman97 I bought some Jack Stone sets a while ago (it was for a project.... honestly) and I agree the instructions were terrible. I had to study photos from Google to figure it out. If I was age 4 I would have ended up in tears sobbing "you do it mummy.... I don't like it".
@NotProfessorWhymzi:
Even a soap-box derby plane like this can get off the ground, if you use a large enough catapult.

Had the joystick and cockpit been invented in recent days, they would surely be named differently.
If you think this plane is missing most of the pieces check out 4614.
The pilot should be about the right size for the Creator Sopwith Camel 3451 or 10226.

I take backmy previous claim. 4614 must be the cheapest JS set! I'm actually surprised it hasn't a negative resale value!
Say what you want, but at least it has a decently sized set of wings.
For those complaining about accuracy... it's supposed to be buildable for a very young age. There's not going to be many pieces, and definitely no SNOT. But lego shot themselves in the foot by trying to simplify their building system AND make it larger. Now something of this size can't get a specialized chassis because there's only so many new parts they can make for one set, and the wings were more important (also appearing in 4617-1 ). The juniors/4+ theme re-uses basic plane chasises for a reason.
Not that lego cared about keeping their amount of new parts sustainable in 2002 anyway.
Come to think of it, they really must have just found this 'good enough' to pass as a toy plane.

"Holy cow. I wouldn’t have thought it could get worse, but…
That’s worse!

I think I read somewhere that one of the definitions of the Jack Stone theme was basically "Lego for kids who hate building"...
This thing is very dangerous and here's why. First off all there is no cockpit so the wind could blow him off very easily.
The best thing about Jack Stone is clearly the buildings in the background - it's halfway between World City and Ninjago City.
@ambr:
Nah, clearly the pilot from this plane got blown off by a light breeze during a moment of inattentiveness, and landed on a pigeon that’s now desperately trying to find a branch to land on.

4614 is so bizarre that I actually kind of want it. Is that weird?
@Zordboy:
Might as well go for broke and buy 1436 instead.
Whenever the plane rolls, Jack will fall to his death, even with no wind. Someone get a 5150 order on Jack, he's clearly showing parasuicidal behavior.
That black wheel holder is in only one other set, but what I am thinking about most in this set is if that backrest would have been placed the other way, he could have reclined while flying in this pre-Tesla Tesla airplane.
This is one of 25 sets I would need to be Jack Stone complete.
Hoping to keep it that way too!

The fascination for the bizarre, unusual, dreadful and outlandish is something special. And the reason why I now like you!
I bought this when I was 20 or so. Why?
WHY?
And 4614 as well. I don't understand myself.

Really? Please can you give us some examples.
Jack Stone! I loved those sets as a kid.
The wing parts are interesting, not listed on Brickset for some reason but this is the only set with them in Red.
I'm here for two things; My Dad lore and dunking on Jack Stone, and My Dad isn't here...

You joke, but you know what I would do to have made those Kabaya sets available in countries other than Japan? So many cute little sets, and we never saw any of them.
Sad Lego face.

Still has nothing on the Cybermaster Box Art!
@Zordboy:
I lucked out that the only time I _really_ wanted some Kabaya sets, a college friend was teaching English in Japan, so he was able to send me 2x 6964 (never released except as the Kabaya promo) and 1x 6965 (rereleased later as a polybag). I did skip 6963, because it was basically a repeat of a previous design, but with bleys instead of old greys.
