Boy, this set really puts me in My Place.
Is My Dad here? I miss him.
By the way, lady… Your place is a freakin’ mess!
Nope, yeah, I get it, my room's a bit of a mess, too.
Oh Huwbot is blessing us today!
to the 40 people who own this set, please tell us how creepy that doll is.
My h key gets stuck sometimes any advice
This isn't your place.
"My Place ... after a particularly severe tornado season."
What's more disturbing is the gigantic mutant butterfly that seems to be larger than the kitten.
“On this episode of Hoarders…”
People are complaining about the messy room, but based on the box art what seems to be going on here is she just moved in and is trying to figure out how to arrange everything (bed ain't even built yet!)
Doesn't explain why she just dumped all the boxes on the floor to shift through instead of unpacking in layers, but its a method I guess.
Spooky... Huwbot is actually a spybot hovering outside my house. And yes, I have only just moved in... can't expect to have everything sorted in only 23 years...
She's imagining what her room would be like without that cat and butterfly destroying everything :P
Why is there a red spiked collar in her purple box?

Look, what she gets up to in the privacy of her place is none of our business.
@NatureBricks:
Worked so great for Blind Al…
@legomaniac:
You can’t blame both the cat and the butterfly. One of them is just trying to hide, and the other one keeps flying through everything it hides behind.
@Edwin_Danielson:
Butterfly trap.
I’d want this set for the chrome mug alone.
Wonder how many people threw out that Tempur mattress not thinking it to he LEGO.
The tip of that clothing rack is, uh, unfortunately positioned in the photo
All the people talking about how messy the place is: give her time to finish moving in! She hasn't even had time to take those parts off of their sprue!
This image should be hung in the Louvre.

But even when she's idly day-dreaming about her ideal bedroom, I mean, it's still kind of a mess.
This place is my place, that place is your place....
It's interesting to see some of the parts are so old...
I can see this becoming the new My Dad pretty quickly.
This is why you don't give My Dad a chainsaw along with a recolored 42139, Huw!
Now My Place is wrecked by his wrath...

My Dad will sit on his throne forever!
Yeah that's genberally how it ends up looking when I try making flatpack furniture too...
Now they're partnered with IKEA maybe Lego should re-release this one!
"My home got destroyed, thank god, I'm alive" set.
@Lego_mini_fan - the lady is anyway not included in this set, see BL
Looks like she's at the rubbish dump, stealing her new furniture. Cheapskate!

A throne of skulls belonging to his victims?
Showing kids such a messy room by default has negative educational value.
@Zordboy: Does that mean My Dad is the Blood God?

"The date went well, why don't you come back to My Place for a good time? We can build some Ikea furniture. "
In the thumbnail, the colour of her trousers is close enough to her skin tone that she looks like she isn't wearing anything apart from a crop top. So I would guess that assembling Ikea/tidying her room isn't the only thing going on on this date! :~P

"This doll has to be Tracey Emin. This looks like ‘My Bed’ , also released in 1998"
My first thought when I saw the photo was "LEGO did a Tracey Emin-themed set?!"
Same
@Huw Is “My Place” real name of this set, or was it edited like “My Dad” had been? :-)
Edit: Peeron knows this set as “Girl's Bedroom”, BrickLink as “My Place”
The mystery isn’t how LEGO almost went bankrupt around this time, the mystery is how it didn’t.
Looks a bit like my LEGO room at the moment ;-)
I can smell the stink of all that old food underneath dirty clothes, neglected toys, cat urine... whew! Lego's most realistic capture of true teenage life!
Just close the door, and move on... ;p
I remember seeing sets like this in the catalog and wanting them just for the food pieces.
love those scala covers!
My Daughter's Room
(That's not the name of this set..... it's a replica of my actual 13 year olds room)
Just looks like a rat on her bed.
Given their propensity to sit euphorically amongst scenes of utter ruination, or stare ominously of out dark shadows, the people of Scala are a creepy bunch if there ever was one!
All one can do is wonder how they got to this point. Obviously, in her mind, Lotte is a neatnik. But in cruel light of reality, she is a slob. Is it just teenage angst? Or is it the crushing despair of knowing she will literally never have a boyfriend? Because the only two guys Lego made in Scalaland were My Dad and baby Thomas…
This looks exactly like my place just before I did some major cleaning up last Tuesday.
I think she must have been hosting some kind of wild party in her place: the whole room is trashed! I'd seriously reconsider ever inviting any of those guests again if they leave the place in this kind of mess...
On a different note, that mattress looks like it's made of the type of foam that I can't stand the feel of. Just looking at it makes me cringe a little bit!
@NatureBricks:
In high school, the first stage production I ever worked on was Brigadoon. In it, there’s a character named Meg Brocky, who relentlessly hits on one of the male leads. In our production, this involved a scene where she somehow got him into her bedroom, and
has basically cornered him on a folding camping cot that was representing her bed. Somehow one of legs hadn’t been completely unfolded, and the cot collapsed underneath the character she was trying to shack up with. Without missing a beat, the actor proclaimed, “But you broke one bed already!” I don’t think I’ve heard an audience laugh that hard since.
It’s important to remember that we could be looking at the “after”, rather than the “before”.
