Didn't know there were dragons in the Racers theme. Can't seem to find any though, so I guess this racer won all those duels.

Silly duelist, that's an air pump, not a dragon! Easy mistake.

By in United States,

I think the dragon has this one, simply because I am not sure how a car could defeat a dragon.

I bet there's a HotWheels playset out there that begs to differ.

By in Australia,

When I think about dragons fighting? A race car and a small air-pump aren't the first things that come to mind.

By in Canada,

If I were honest that silver grey piece in the back looks to me like an off-brand. I know it’s the piece for the plunger to insert but I’ll let some other comments address that function.

If we are using the HotWheels canon, those cars are near indestructible and could practically do anything. It wouldn't even be close if that's the rules the fight is going to follow.

Re: Hot Wheels: I know there's at least one HW car that *is* a dragon.

@Zordboy: Indeed. I was really surprised to scroll down and see a car.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I actually owned a couple of these, but I had no idea there was a second series.

Taking a fart-powered car against a fire-breathing dragon…. What could possibly go wrong?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

"Mr. Quixote, your car is on fire...again...":)

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

The car actually looks good. Even, better than some Creator cars I've seen.

Dragon not included

This is one of the rare Random Sets of the Day that I've actually never heard of before. Did it actually work reasonably well?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Is it THAT innocent? Am I the only one who gets adult-joke vibes by looking at it?

Against dragons? No one knows, we haven't heard much about this car after 2011, so I assume he must have met his end at some point.

By in Netherlands,

I like how the obscure air pump propulsion of 7317 Aero Tube Hanger and 7690 MB-1 Eagle Command Base eventually ended up miniaturized as pumps for projectiles with the aforementioned base and 7691, in the Bionicle Mistika wave (most visible with 8694 Krika), and this range of cars. For TWO waves! (8221, 8227, 8228, 8231 and the legendarily named 7967, 7967, 7970, 7971).
Someone thought: what if air pump slammer propulsion was used for cars? It's like mad toy science!
The 2000s sure were a golden age for propulsion and projectile tech!

By in United States,

Something about this set made me come check the comments. And they are as unhinged as I hoped. And I’m 100% here for it!

@jkb:
Sounds like a mystery for sure. If you can’t figure it out, don’t get mad, but if you do, be sure to crow about it.

Maybe. Maybe even something bigger. Obscured. Behind the scenes stuff.

You mean the whole way the Lego company was ran (to near-bankrupcy) around 2003? Calling it 'mad toy science' sounds about right.
*My Dad creeps up towards us

But in fairness, all air pump systems I mentioned except for the Life on Mars one are from 2007 and beyond. Even afterwards the company was trying a lot of short-lived stufff.

By in Germany,

@Binnekamp Yep, that was what I was aiming for =)
It's okay to experiment and fail and in LEGO's case, it was too much experimenting and failing at once. Yes, they had a lot of pressure. No, it doesn't rectify bad market research or spendings management.

By in Hungary,

I just love the shaping of this one, specifically the upwards curve on the sides. And it's cool how this is almost a Ninjago X-1 Ninja Charger.

By in Netherlands,

This set just blows my mind....euh car.
