By in United States,

Looks like he already blocked it and threw it back out with a cartwheel.
What are these motion streaks?

By in United Kingdom,

I have this set !
I bought it for 99p in a random gift shop in a random town that I don't actually remember where. I have 2 of the others in the theme (also bought for 99p).
They don't venture out much. Usually when it's the World Cup or something I set up a little pitch and there will be a few 5 a side games.
Chima vs City, Star Wars Storm Troopers vs Ninjago, Friends vs Generic Construction Workers etc.
(I confess the Mega Bloks Minions join in the footy matches too. Sometimes even the MB Hello Kitty's)
The most amazing thing about the 3 sets I own.... I have managed to never lose the balls. I still have all 3 !!
This is as excited about football as I get.

By in United States,

I have a goal of never playing soccer. So far, I’ve been able to keep it.

Sure, but it looks like soccer, not football.

Yet, you still kept a goal...you never play soccer and you're an excellent goalkeeper

By in Turkey,

This was a good theme with lots of little play sets like these.

By in Netherlands,

Pretty nice set. It's more useful than all those target practise sets, and looks better than the 2000s busses that barely contain the teams within.
And a blue goalee shirt is nice too! If you're into castle you could use it as dyed studded leather armor. I'm pretty sure a grey one was used like that in the fright knights theme. Even though that came a year before the 1998 football theme...?

EDIT: Yes! Set 2538, 6027, 6087 and 6097 all have a minifigure with a grey version of this shirt.
But it gets crazier.
The soccer sets sport the same design, but with a '1' on the back. That version is included in blue here and only otherwise in set 3409. The dark grey version with a number also appears in 3409, but only in that set.

By in Netherlands,

A good set to get the goalie figure from the big set, and an extra goal for your field setup the instructions suggested cool stuff like 4 player field setups if you had multiples of 3409 : Championship Challenge.

3401 . or 3401-2 : Shoot 'n' Score is a better standalone set imo , as it has a full goal (yes it's one piece but also is a handy storage box), and could be played with 2 people.

The year 2000 goals overall were quite flimsy (from experience), but ugraded in 3420 : Championship Challenge II , and later changed entirely in 3569 : Grand Soccer Stadium using a different design : https://brickset.com/parts/4276997/fence-with-bow-1x6x6 + https://brickset.com/parts/4274677/net-7x16

By in Canada,

Those white angled stanchions are very nice for Blacktron MOCs.

By in Netherlands,

I do see some issues here....
- no net
- the poles are not vertical, rather wide at the bottom, and with some nasty pointy edges...
- the bar is in front of the line
- the line is VERY wide.....and considering the ball has to cross the line in it's entirety....
