I've been wearing my tricorne backwards all this time!

Shouldn't there be an apostrophe in this title? I'm sure Pirates in general don't really care, but maybe some care about their grammar. Yarrr...

No you see, it's not a "Pirate's Cannon," it's a "Pirates Cannon." It's a cannon that shoots pirates out of it.

Shiver me timbers! An excellent strategy for pillaging!

With a hairline like that, his grammar is the least of his worries!

How can you shoot pirates (or cannonballs!) out of a non-firing cannon?!? That's the REAL question!

By in United States,

How many pirates can fit in the center of the Pirates Cannon?

The world may never know ...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Probably the least stealthy cannon emplacement I’ve ever seen: “yarr, in case you don’t know where these shots be comin’ from, look fer the flag, matey!”

You’re all wrong- he’s actually stealing it. Although pirating a cannon seems pretty impractical, especially when it has no wheels.

@GBP_Chris 1/2 of a pirate. I had the piece, but I had to approximate the shape.

It seems only the US got the non-firing cannon

Nice little pocket money pirates set, how I miss these!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The parts inventory (on various sites) show it as not coming with any cannon balls. Sad!

Is that what we're saying for Pirate Sets when we ask for the Lore? The Canon?

One canonical element here is that the name appears to use "Pirates" as an adjective rather than a genitive--like saying something is a Canada Goose, rather than Canada's Goose. The meaning here must surely be to disambiguate various Cannons: Castle Cannon, Ninja Cannon, Pirates Cannon, Wild West Cannon, Ninjago Cannon, CyberSlam Cannon, etc.

This is actually one of 3 sets included in the 1729 value pack. There is one combination instruction book used for all 3 sets (1871, 1872, and 1873), so if you look for the 1729 instruction book you should find it there.

Go to the set details page and it's suddenly called Pirate's Cannon.
Strange

I believe it's a DSL-ARR camera.

@Al_S:
He fired all the cannonballs. And then he fired all the other pirates.

@CCC:
Blame Battlestar Galactica, Mattel, Kenner, and George Lucas. The Battlestar Galactica was awarded to Mattel, which produced a Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider that had firing missiles. Some kid shot himself in the back of the throat with one, choked, and died. Kenner and George Lucas got sued for this, right around the time Kenner was advertising a rocket-firing Boba Fett action figure. Full panic mode ensued, and toys with firing choking hazards were off the market for years. I don’t know that there was ever any law against them, but certainly _nobody_ would make them until a full generation later. Now we’ve got several different firing projectile designs just from TLG alone, plus Hasbro (owner of Kenner and the SW action figure license) has made a lot of toys that fire missiles. In Hasbro’s case, they’re usually a few inches long and unlikely to make the turn at the back of the throat. LEGO designs include similarly long missiles, plus stuff that’s small enough to easily swallow (1x1 round plates and tiles), but also a few things around the same size as those ill-fated BSG missiles, which makes me think it was all a self-imposed ban in the US.

@Formendacil:
Only when it involves cannons.
