I'll be honest with you guys, this I'm somewhat rusty with Lesovikk's lore *and* I've got something I gotta do right now. My writing finger's are also rusty. Lore'll be late tonight, but hold on tight!

Long ago Lesovikk was a Matoran of Air living in a humble village with his best friends Sarda and Idris.

During the fledgling years of the Matoran Universe, one of the Great Beings experiments went horribly wrong, resulting in the reptilian monsters known as Zyglak. As the Zyglak's raids grew more frequent, it was clear something had to be done about them.

And so Lesovikk was granted the power of a Toa and placed in charge of the very first Toa team. The Toa Cordak. The Cordak set out to take on the Zyglak, but during their battle Lesovikk hesitated for one crucial moment. His inaction gave the Zyglak an opening, and his entire team was slain. As a result of this tragedy, "Cordak" came to mean "desolation" in the Matoran tongue.

Dejected by his failure and defeat, Lesovikk abandoned the mantle of Toa and slumped back to his village. Once there he discovered his Turaga had gone mad! The elder had sent the entire village's population to the far off repair yard of Karzahni, and its warlord of the same name. Even in these early days, legends said that those who went to Karzahni never returned. Lesovikk spent the next 90,000 years wandering the Matoran Universe, searching everywhere to find his old friends and failing many times to breach Karzahni's gates.

As for Sarda and Idris...

Karzahni was meant to be the great repairman of the Matoran Universe. Broken and malfunctioning Matoran would be sent to his land and he would repair them. However, Karzahni was ill fitted for his job. All Matoran he was sent came out as mangled and misshapen freaks. Fearing his reputation, he refused to return these Matoran to their homeland. Most he simply dumped in a remote part of the Southern Continent, that would eventually become known as Voya Nui. He eventually put his own realm of Karzahni on lockdown, and all his remaining patients become his slaves.

Fast forward 89,000 years and the Great Cataclysm strikes. As a result, Voya Nui was fired out of its underground dome in the MU and came to float on the ocean of Aqua Magna above. Some years after this, one of its cities, Mahri Nui, broke off of Voya Nui and sank into the depths. It came to settle on a field of airweed that created a bubble of oxygen around it.

After all of these events, Sarda and Idris came to live in a dome deep beneath the sea, fearing the mutagenic waters that could remove their ability to breath air.

Fast forward to 1,000 years after the Great Cataclysm, and the events of the main story. On their quest to retrieve the Mask of Life, the Toa Inika briefly visited Karzahni's realm. No Matoran had escaped his grasp since it's lockdown, and so Karzahni pursued the fledgling team. He eventually trailed them to Mahri Nui, but fell into the mutagenic waters. Karzahni was transformed into a bug like monster, and choose to recruit some nearby Zyglak to form a new army.

An agent of the Order of Mata Nui approached Lesovikk and told him that Karzhani was in Mahri Nui, and had raised an army of Zyglak. Hearing the two parties that ruined his life had teamed up, Lesovikk rushed to the scene, claiming he'd kill Karzahni if he had to.

While in Mahri Nui, Lesovikk shared a tearful reunion with Sarda and Idris. During their quest to find Karzahni all three became mutated into water breathers. Eventually the three cornered the warlord in a cave, and began to set a trap. During the fight Karzahni used his Mask of Alternate Futures to plant an illusion in Lesovikk's mind. He threw him into a vision where his Toa team never died. In a matter of minutes, Lesovikk spent a lifetime of bliss with his long lost friends. Eventually, he cracked free from the vision, accepted that his team was gone forever, and rejoined the fight. Karzahni was caged by the trio.

In the aftermath of the battle, the three discovered a single helmet that could allow water-breathers to return to land. They gave Idris the helmet. Lesovikk and Sarda went on to join forces with Dekar-Hydraxonn in recapturing the prisoners of the Pit.

After the battle of Journey's End, Mata Nui used the last of his strength to bless his people for the new age. Among these gifts, those tainted by Pit Mutagen became amphibious, letting them breath air once more. The trio could reunite and live on land in peace.

This then brings us to the Epilogue. Journey's End was the official ending of BIONICLE, but Greg Farshtey planed a series of bonus serials to wrap up character arcs. This included the murder mystery The Powers that Be, which to this day has not been finished and likely never will.

After the events of Journey's End, Karzahni escaped from imprisonment. Lesovikk approached Toa Kopaka and Pohatu in a fit of rage, demanding that the warlord be recaptured, or he'd take him in himself. After leaving, Lesovikk was ambushed by the Great Being Velika, who stole his sword. With Mata Nui and Makuta effectively gone, Velika forged a grand plan to kill off the remaining powerful figures across the MU and become the Matoran's new god.

Velika slew Karzahni with Lesovikk's own blade, framing the Toa for his murder. Pohatu and Kopaka went on a quest to discover the true killer, leading to a much more ancient mystery...

Lesovikk wore the Kanohi Faxon, the Mask of Kindred. This mask let him copy the powers of animals that share their current environment, granted they have knowledge of the animal's powers themself. A gatling gun capable of firing small missiles was named the "Cordak Blaster," after his team's "desolation" legacy. Ironically, Lesovikk would obtain a Cordak Blaster, which he fixed to his Sea Sled.

Lesovikk is interesting in that he is one of the few BIONICLE characters to get a set release but never appear in the mainline books. His appearances are limited to four of the online story serials, one of which is an alternate universe version of the character. This leaves him delegated to tertiary content. His lore is intense, but largely self contained from the main narrative. He's sort of a Darth Raven or Morgoth type character, playing a major role in the universe's history but being largely irreverent to the main plot. Also his lime joints are easy to break

I had this set. I hated the lime... every single lime joint broke, and then the lime mask got stepped on at some point, which shattered.
I had this set. Keyword: had.

By in United States,

The limey issues with BIONICLE sets in 2007-2008 is one of the main reasons the Lesovikk set I have remains in its box, unbuilt. I won't lie, I had absolutely NO clue what Lesovikk's role in the BIONICLE story was, and for once in the history of BIONICLE sets featured in RSotD posts, GSR_Mata Nui's posts actually revealed and recalled interesting bits of the story that I undoubtedly missed due to being caught up with graduating high school and moving out of state for college in 2007.

What I do recall is that early copies of this set were missing a piece. I think it was one of the turbine fans on the underside of the sled. LEGO corrected this in subsequent editions, and I waited to buy it until I felt enough time had passed. Indeed, when I did, I opened the box just to inspect the contents and confirm that were indeed 2 of the turbine fans. After that, I resealed the box and kept it in my closet.

By in United States,

I’d heard of the issues with Bionicle Lime, but this set was well after I stopped collecting, and all the lime socket joints I own predate this (I think they’re mostly from Throwbots or Roboriders sets).

There were no lime green parts in Throwbots/Slizer and RoboRiders only used lime for non-ball joint parts (actually the only RoboRiders set with balljoints was 8514 if I remember correctly).

The first lime ball joint sockets appeared in the Nui-Rama (Lewa Mata had limbs in the color, but no sockets still). With the color being absent from Bionicle from 2003-2004 those parts remained rather uncommon until 2007.

By in United Kingdom,

I remember having this set; it was fine, Lesovikk himself was a better build than half the Toa Mahri were and the sled was kinda cool.
Nice to actually get Lesovikk after getting his adversary Karzahni about a year ago, that could have been a way longer gap

By in Belgium,

Looking back at December’s random sets, we had a pretty good month. There was a nice selection of themes, without something generally disliked like Jack Stone; and today Bionicle fans can be finally happy. We still have two normal random sets to go, so we can yet get the best theme of them all, Clickits!

By in Netherlands,

Oooh! This is currently my white whale, and I own 97% of it already! Earlier this december I spotted a lime piraka torso in a lot of bionicle parts. So I bought the lot, bought the (many) parts needed to recomplete a good number of bionicle sets from it to sell, and with the same orders completed this set with the exception of the mask and serrated air blade.
Those are super expensive now, but on the whole the 97% cost me a mere 12,50 euro so far. I'm waiting until next year to order the last two parts, as I'm wary the postal service will lose them in december's traffic.

I used to own Lesovikk, a family member from the US gifted it to me. I foolishly sold it and now it's SUPER expensive and almost entirely gone from europese markets. Glad I'm almost back to owning one again!

@Atuin:
Right, so apparently every lime socket I own came from Nui-Rama. 2005 was the second use, and by then I had basically stopped building any Bionicle MOCs, with a few exceptions that didn’t use lime parts.

The thing also is, none of the 2001-2004 lime parts had this problem. It only started with the Barakki in 2007, then the Toa Mahri the same year

I liked Lesovikk, he was cool.

...and fragile. Definitely fragile. But we had contacted Lego customer services for a replacement the first time I had one of those joints break, and they sent me quite a few of them due to it being a known issue, so I had like four of the longer socket pieces in reserve for as and when I came to need them.

I think I came off pretty lightly as far as lime pieces were concerned, though. I know a few of the long sockets cracked at one end, but only one or two of them were rendered unusable by that - the rest still worked, just had to be handled carefully - and then one of the single-ended sockets that literally split into two pieces which made it completely useless. But for the most part I was at the point where I wasn't extensively playing with my sets by 2007, I was more into just posing and photographing them by then, so the majority of the joints survived until I eventually sold the sets.

...like the person who mentioned it above, Lesovikk is one of those ones that I kiiiiiinda regret doing that with.

On a different note, I liked that he had a recolour of a mask from another set; that had used to be something that Bionicle did a lot of in its early years, and it was always fun to get existing masks in new colours, before mostly giving up on it after they stopped making collectable mask packs in 2004. 2007 didn't go back to the full extent of six-plus colours for each mask; but Lesovikk had a recolour of Hahli's from the same year, and three of the Matoran had older masks in new colours, which was pretty nice ^^

Lesovikk here was born with lime joints. Every morning he breaks his arms, and every night he breaks his legs. He cries every night until his heart-attacks lull him to sleep. Please, won't you help Lesovikk and others like him? With your small donation to the Brittle Lime Joint Recovery Fund, we can help all the poor Bionicles out there who are suffering with this debilitating condition. Please, call now to donate. If operators are busy, please stay on the line.

By in United States,

Somehow my Ehlek still has all his original joints. One small crack on one of them is visible, but it hasn't ruined the figure yet. Knock on wood, 15 years still going on strong.

A weird thing happened to me with Bionicle in 2007 though. I got three of the villain sets at the start of the year then just decided to... quit. I proclaimed I was done with Bionicle and that was that. I was near starting High School so maybe pre-teen me thought I had to be "kewl" and it was time to put Bionicle behind me or something. Or maybe it was the release of Cafe Corner which made me starting thinking about how regular System Lego could go bigger and better. Or maybe after so many years of Bionicle I was just done, and the line had changed a lot from the idyllic days on Mata-Nui to something that every now and then looked like self parody with its layers of edge and grim-darkness.

Either way, I stopped buying Bionicle. Still read the comics a bit though, at least enough to read about Matoro's death and Mata-Nui and Makuta's final robot boxing match. Briefly considered picking up Mata-Nui in 2009 when he released, never did. Logged onto BZPower every now and then to say hi, but not much else for a time. My next Bionicle set was in 2015 when the reboot happened.

So somehow I skipped Lesovikk, the Toa Mahri and the worse offenders of the lime green sockets entirely excluding my one somehow lucky Ehlek!

By in United States,

I didn’t know there were issues with specific colors of Bionicle parts so I’m glad I decided to click on this. I did learn fairly quickly that attempting to disassemble any Bionicle figure was a risky endeavor. After taking all of my Hero Factory sets apart I started on the Bionicle Stars sets and to my luck many parts broke. Fortunately they were able to send me replacements but now I’m afraid to take any Bionicles apart.
