There are exposed gears right in front of the seat and just off to the side! That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

"Shake Hands with Danger" begins to play...

I’ve seen ones that are about half the size of a minivan. I don’t think they scoop more than a five gallons at a time.

Ha, they got me! I thought this was the one recently featured in 11021, but that's 8043 --this guy's big brother from the same year.

I see 4 system studs in this picture. Verdict: not pure Technic. Ptooey.

Needs one of those maxifigs we’ve had over the last few days to come drive it!

This was always one of my favorites. Basic, but its functions worked satisfyingly well.

I love this set. Both beautiful and functional. Fits anywhere.

By in Netherlands,

I recall this set selling for 20 euro at the time. Not a bad price for its size!

The arm is very 8419 -like, but slightly different and on a bigger sized body. The gear mechanism als seems to have been made more compact in this set, as it's also controlled by two gears in the back.

Overall a set that gives me strong 2000s technic vibes. The only panels on it are small and its classic yellow-black color scheme is decidedly before the lack of yellow in the late 2010s.

The only technic excavator I ever built was from 8888 : Ideas Book

Brick Built Bucket was just great.

Decent set. However, I do remember the worm gears having a lot of friction, being loaded by all the weight of the arm and mechanisms.
