I have seen plenty of Random Sets of the Day that I've never seen before, but never have a seen one so recent that I have literally no recollection of. I know I'm a Star Wars guy, but I typically do look at all the sets that do come out just because, and this is drawing a complete blank.

I was going to say "Love the helmet headphone combo", but I looked closer and apparently, the headphones are an accessory which fit in a hole in the top of the hat. It would be surprising if it was one mold, since 2013, so it makes much more sense this way.

You might say this set is a bit plane.

Hey, I got that set last year for an absurdly low price, just R$25 (around US$5). Half the price of a Collectable Minifigure here (R$50 ~ US$10). It is extremely rare to find someone selling Lego sets for such low price here. That said, I used its parts for MOCs.

For how many stunt planes LEGO has made, you would think that you’d see more stunt planes in your life.

The current amount of real life stunt planes that I’ve seen in my life is: 0

As a longtime aviation buff, I'm sorry I didn't pick this one up. I love so many things about it, from the little service vehicle to the use of the hot rod engine piece. (I love that piece, so It's always nice to see pop up.)

@Miyakan: Just winging it with the puns, are we?

I’ll take 31076 instead, it’s one of my favorites

BRO I HAVE THIS!!! Finally a worthy set...

By in Australia,

I actually have this one! I was a bit of a problem child almost a decade ago, once after a visit to the counsellor, my mom surprised me with this set on the way home. This set is nostalgic because I spent a whole lot of time playing with it - we had just moved houses (to another country no less) and most of the LEGO I had were still shipping over.

Which reminds me, I should rebuild this. Thanks RSOTD for reminding me.

I got this set for a song I added to a BL order from an Austrian seller. It was the first time I saw in person a European box without the number of parts printed on it. Kudos to the seller as well, it was actually complete!

I remember getting this set from my aviator step grandpa! This brought back a lot of good memories! Thanks! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't recognize the set. I thought I was familiar with all sets 2012+, but perhaps my knowledge is not as extensive as I thought. Or my memory is not as great...

I was gifted this set ages ago but never got around to building it. Probably buried somewhere in my closet! I think I agree with the above that 31076 looks far more appealing. Anyone wanna trade? :P

City sets from 2010-2015 kinda blur together in my mind, this one is no exception, I love that stupid little 4-wide maintenance vehicle though, what a fantastic side build. Fun stickers on the plane too.

(Also is this the first 2013 set we've gotten as set of the day? I can't remember any others but I'm forgetful)

Nice set, I don't think little red tip is necessary under the wings.

It depends on how many airshows you attend. I counted 135 upcoming airshows in the USA FOR 2023. Surely there is one not too far from you. Most of the time, there will be a flying performance by a solo/team/group of stunt planes. It is usually a great day!

The plane is great and that cute little 4-wide maintenance vehicle is A+ awesome. Great set!

Kinda wish I would have gotten one of these back then...

By in Jersey,

Bought this recently New and Sealed. It turned out to be Used and Resealed. With a couple of missing parts into the bargain. Oh well at least I didn't pay much. Nice little set for what it's worth.

Much be the first 60xxx series City set we've had as Random Set?

By in Netherlands,

I think this one was a bit overshadowed by the other airshow sets that came out at the time. And for some reason every time I saw it afterwards my mind conflated it with an airport exclusive set I picked up to resell around that time: 7688 Sports Plane. I was so excited to have found a limited release set in the wild! Good times. But this set is different. I suppose it's the presence of the service vehicle!

So thank you RSotD for finally getting me to look up the other set so I now know which is which!

You just know that pilot is humming Highway to the Danger Zone to himself

4-wide ftw

This sunglasses headpiece is very cool. Not as cool as the original sunglasses headpiece though.

Awww yeah!
I could be wrong, but this might be the first ever RSotD that I actually own. And it’s one of my favorites. Not only a great set, but I credit it with bringing me out of my dark ages when I purchased it for my son 10 years ago. And it will always be his FIRST LEGO set. Double awesomeness.

By in United Kingdom,

I like this. A couple of years ago I did a display at a transport museum and my display was an Air Show and I was thinking of rebuilding it and I need a few more planes.
(I met @huw in person at that event !)

@Randomness:
There are actually three different hairstyles with incorporated headphones, and a hardhat with incorporated ear protectors. The downside is they’re not removable unless you have a matching hairstyle without them. The upside is this removable version looks pretty bad in comparison.

I regret not picking this up. I have several other stunt planes, and this would’ve made a great addition. I’m not sure why I didn’t. I wish I could go back and ask my slightly younger self the reasons.

By in United Kingdom,

Worth mentioning El Fuego's 70429 stunt plane as the app added something different, although could do with stud shooters on both wings! As a projectile shooter my favorite is still 71736 boulder blaster.

My son has this set. After building it, we found that the plane was structurally unsound - it would "crush" / collapse inward when under too much vertical pressure, which made it tough to play with. I looked through the instructions and didn't find a mistake in our build at the time. But now with the comments from others who built it and didn't comment on this, I am wondering if I need to revisit those instructions one more time. To work around the problem, I actually added some spare parts into the interior to fill up some of the single-plate-thick hollow area that was causing the problem.

By in Netherlands,

60260 : Air Race had a similar airplane, but that price was hiked by those 2 abyssmal pull cord helicopters.

Both sets have exactly 140 pieces.

41343 : Heartlake City Airplane Tour offered much better value compared to 60260 for sure.

I didn’t notice a design flaw or structural problem with this set, but my son would play very rough with it and occasionally “crash” it. I considered it a play feature and it’s a simple enough set that rebuilding it was easy and kind of fun. It helped him get adept at reconstructing with LEGO, so it seemed like an added bonus.
I’ll have to go back and revisit it to see if it actually is fragile or if my son just put in some extra effort to get his desired explosion.

A city set I actually bought. It must have caught my eye just enough. Nice little plane.

Easily the best part, is if you swap out the red for black, and put a trans neon green cockpit on (Which you can do!) it would make a very excellent Blacktron plane. Perhaps that is why it caught my eye.

And that would be some very easy swaps.
