Random minifig of the day: gb014b
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is gb014b Dr. Winston Zeddemore - Printed Arms, Neck Bracket, a Ghostbusters figure that came in a set that was released during 2016.
Our members collectively own a total of 12,386 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where a new one will cost around $18.90.

I know it's a small detail but I appreciate the little initials on the Ghostbuster figures' torsos. Adds a little extra variety and flair to 'em!
I gotta call the Ghostbusters and have them locate that Ghost Vintage Set of the Week!
EDIT: Oh okay, I see that the listing was changed on the previous minifig. Well then I guess that's the end of my reign of trying to get the first comments on Random sets because I can't keep staying up this late for me. To some, staying up past 9pm my time is no big deal, but that's when I officially call it quits. The random sets were my last Internet activity for the day and hopefully by 10 I'm in bed. I tough it out during the week or two when the US and UK aren't synced up on Daylight Savings, but pushing it an extra hour forever is gonna be too much for me. It's been a good run. Keep the meming and light hazing of sets alive!
Who ya gonna call?
"Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say."
"That's one big Twinkie..."...:D
Always liked the character, and of course actor; and always felt bad for the latter how they treated the former...what do I mean? Well:
Hudson was hired, given a abstract of the character: former Marine, Engineer, and other stuff...that they then never used in the movie/was cut out...I mean, his animated counterpart had more development...still, some of those lines. :D

Hadn’t realised this had started yesterday; but we’re two-for-two on strong choices!
Like that it’s Winston, the Ghostbuster most often shunted to the sidelines, who’s ended up being picked first out the quartet
He was a Dr. too?

"He-Man!"
I kinda wish the Ghostbusters in 21108: Ghostbusters Ecto-1 also included arm printing.
“Slightly incorrect movie quote.”
One thing I suspect we're going to encounter going through random figs from post-2010 is a frequent refrain--at least from a few of us whose sensibilities date to a prior decade--of "a bit over-detailed for me." I don't think Dr. Zeddemore here actually is over-detailed as a whole package, but that's at least in part because he has plain tan legs balancing him out. Looking at the torso alone, it's a tiny bit busy.

Who was first day?! Can't see on cell phone
I don’t know about the rest of you but I always find neck brackets make minifigs look like that National Geographic cover with the African lady wearing all those gold neck rings to elongate her neck.

Huh, really? I’m on a phone and see it just fine…
The first was March Harriet from the Batman CMF

Thanks.
Yeah, I see it now, below on this article.

"Is this the right time to ask when Build a Minifig will get added to the database?! It like an unholy element section of my collection just sitting outside the law! If I can't log things do they truly exist?!"
Unfortunately not. They are not listed at BrickLink any more, I think in part because they can vary in different countries, and in essence all they are is a selection of parts that can be assembled however you want.

No, he wasn’t.
2 out of 2 for having them both, but I don't see this trend continuing much further.
Only today I noticed there are random minifigs now, so I want to provide feedback that I'm disappointed that the qualifying timeframe is 2010 and later. I know RMotD can be disabled in preferences and that's what I'll do since I have no interest in these minifigs.

It wouldn't surprise me if there are more minifigures in existence since 2010 than before. It likely is a majority of all minifigures. So what's to complain about? Also, it's based on image quality so @Huw may adjust in future.
@NotProfessorWhymzi:
The part was written for Eddie Murphy (fellow “from back when it was worth watching” SNL alum John Belushi was the basis for Slimer). He backed out to star in Beverly Hills Cop, and they cast Ernie Hudson, who expected to shoot with the Eddie Murphy script he’d been given. When they started filming, he discovered that they’d cut Zedmore out of the first half of the film and basically stripped away his entire backstory. What he expected to be a star-turning role ended up being basically the fourth Musketeer, and his career never really materialized. The novelization was likely based off the Eddie Murphy script, with most of that content edited out once plans changed. That’s kinda how things went back in the days when most major blockbusters got a companion novelization. When Star Wars got delayed from its intended release during the 1976 Christmas season, the novelization ended up coming out half a year before anyone got to see the completed film. X-Wings flew as Blue Squadron, while Red Squadron was the Y-Wings. ET ate M&Ms instead of Reece’s Pieces.
@BobaFettfan:
Ideas sets had tight parts budgets, so the arm printing was probably out of reach. As it is, they had four printed torsos, the license plate, the GB logo, two drum-lacquered parts, and a recolor of the minifig stand, that I can recall.

Scroll all the way past the comment section to see previous Random days that would show up on the sidebar for computers. Click on the “Random X” tag below the headline to get access to the full history, in case the short history doesn’t go back as far as you’d like to check.
@Huw:
I know it gets too messy for RPotD, but can minifigs get linked back to their RMotD post the way Random Sets do?
I missed the first round yesterday and didn't get the chance to comment. I think it was a bad choice to exclude every minifig before 2010 and agree everyone saying there is plenty interesting vintage and classic figures. I don't think image quality, and the fact that there is a big amount of minifigs being released from 2010 till now, is a good enough reason for that cutoff.
I know that that would mean a lot of similar looking figures from classic town, but I would still prefer to have them included than only having modern figures included.
Maybe if there was a way to exclude figures with the same torso print? I don't know if Brickset has a part list of the minifigs, but if there was a way to tweak the algorithm to include all the cool classic figures then this feature would be much better imho...
