New NINJAGO Build-a-Minifigure parts

Posted by ,

LEGO releases new Build-a-Minifigure elements every few months and the latest batch became available on the 1st of June.

These include three new NINJAGO minifigures. The exclusive versions of Arin and Sora appear particularly appealing, each featuring a unique head and torso.

View these minifigures and the accompanying student ninja below...

Arin and Sora each appear in several new sets, but only two variants are actually available. These additional designs are therefore very welcome, although neither are directly inspired by costumes seen in the animated series thus far. Arin's robe shares evident similarities with his standard figure, displaying orange highlights and a decorative dragon, but this attire appears slightly more casual.

Sora is also dressed casually. This attire is far less detailed than Sora's other minifigures, but includes her familiar cat insignia on the reverse, as well as her name in Ninjargon on the front. However, I am disappointed that her golden arm is not printed. The coral hair piece looks great though and is only otherwise available in 71799 NINJAGO City Markets.

The new heads are equally appealing, making a nice change from the designs found in other sets. Sora's cheerful expression is useful in particular, although there is no second expression, sadly. The third minifigure is dressed in the apprentice robes introduced in 71787 Creative Ninja Brick Box. Only her orange hair element is actually unique and reflects the outlandish hairstyles often featured in NINJAGO.

After watching the first ten episodes of Dragons Rising, there are definitely other appearances for Arin and Sora I would have preferred. Nevertheless, I am happy to see NINJAGO elements available in the Build-a-Minifigure bar and would love to see some more in the future. The Core versions of Lloyd, Nya and Kai have been released with these minifigures, but Arin and Sora are clearly the highlights.

By in Australia,

Sora with a plain golden arm without printing just looks really cheap...

By in Australia,

I got these on the Thursday they released, and I'm quite happy with them!
Whenever I get Sora's mech bike I'll be sure to integrate these pieces in some way. The absence of leg printing on the two main characters is slightly disappointing though, but the lack of arm printing on Sora's golden arm doesn't bother me. I would have much preferred an Imperium civillian outfit for Sora though.
I think Arin is almost perfect here, but the lack of printed legs really fails to tie the whole Core suit aesthetic together that they seem to have been going for with this one.

By in United Arab Emirates,

I like Sora's face print and her casual torso. Would've looked better with arm printing but oh well!

Finally, thanks to this Sora minifig I can own 1/6th of a Mr. Gold figure.

The Mr. Gold was chrome gold, while this figure's arm is pearl gold. Sorry, but even if you bought this, you would own 0% of Mr. Gold.

By in Spain,

Are these only available in the US? BAM shows a very limited range of options in Spain since the last few months: three bottoms, around 10-12 torsos... very disappointing.

Dreams dashed yet again... thanks, LEGO....

By in United States,

I might try to pick up Arin for his gi, but I would have preferred he come with printed elgs since I don't have any flame yellowish orange legs to replace them with. Sora doesn't look good except for her flashback hair, and the student is fine although not too appealing to me. There is also a female soccer player not shown here that is being released, but her exclusive hair is the only thing that has really captured my attention.

Are you shopping online or in person? That would certainly change what you see. This BAM selection should be available worldwide though.

"Yessss, thank you for this, @CapnRex101 ! I've been wanting articles like these for quite some time. The BAM-walls often have lovely and exclusive parts, but I'm not always able to just pop in and browse at my leisure.

I'm hoping this will be a mainstay!"

Yes! Agreed! Jay’s Brick Blog covers BAM, but I’d love to see it here, too! Knowing when to time in-store visits is very useful!!

By in United States,

As I'm not into Ninjago or Soccer/Football this is a dud BAM release for me. Unless they've restocked BAM with some desirable older parts I'm going to find it impossible to justify buying any this quarter just to get some brown chickens. At least I did buy a few when they had them available online through PAB.

A regular update of BAM parts would be extremely useful!

Ninjago, Harry Potter, LOTR or Star Wars; no matter the theme I applaud @CapnRex101’s immense movie and series knowledge. Superb!

By in United Kingdom,

Not at all interesting for me. Ninjago figures should be in Ninjago sets.

Her name is Karen. She'd like to speak to your manager because you couldn't read her mind to know that. (I'm making this all up, but it sounds plausible enough for a Karen, so thus her name henceforth shall be Karen.) She's also mad her specialty extremely-difficult-to-make coffee order is late by 30 seconds. (and counting...)

I feel sorry for all the women named Karen who don’t match that stereotype.

By in Germany,

Are there any plans to put these Minifigures in Brickset? I feel like a lot of cool BAM Minifigures have come out in the last few months that are not in the Database :)
