I can't help but wonder the extent to which the studs on the rotors impact the air resistance. There's no way that can be good for a helicopter in proper, working order.

Inverse golf ball dimples!
Spongebob: "Don't worry buddy, the chopper's on the way."
Patrick: "Spongebob, I don't think I'm gonna make it. You're gonna have to use the saw and chop off my frozen arms"
SB: "I can't do that buddy"
P: "Why not?"
SB: "Because I've already chopped off my own arms"
P: "NOOOO!"
Helicopter pilot: "Attention climbers! The saws are on the way!"
SB & P: "Hooray!"

Not to mention the sides of the blades are completely flat, and there is a recess on the underside.
I'm also curious about the possibility of having a rear propeller that has the outer wheel like this one.
@Miyakan:
Without any aeronautical engineering experience, I think it would be feasible to link the blades with an other ring like that, but for two problems. The first is that the blades need to be able to pivot to adjust how much force the tail rotor exerts when you want to rotate the craft CW or CCW. And the other is that any minor damage to that outer ring will probably throw the entire tail rotor out of balance, which will make for a very rough ride.

I can’t see analysis like this ever taking off

I don’t know what you’re on about since LEGO has been successfully making these rotors for decades and I’ve never once heard of a crash.
Except those City pull cord ones of a few years ago. Those are trash, but again, did not use this design. See?

They crash all the time here. Probably pilot error though. They are all under the age of 10.
@Kynareth:
Just tape a printout to the dashboard, and it'll take off just fine.
Weirdly, this set simultaneously didn't ring a bell yet also seemed overly familiar to me because it seemed similar to something that wasn't orange.
So I looked up 4918 Mini Flyers from memory. Although there are some similarities it's less similar than I thought.
I guess there were only so many ways to make mini helicopters.
All of this discussion about aerodynamics and not one of you has brought up its rad colour scheme, which will obviously make it go faster. That's just science
Looks like the US Coast Guard's undergone some cutbacks...but, in fairness; they do have Odie flying one of their units, so...(while one vacation years ago, near Seattle, I went Boeing's Museum of Flight; they had a Coast Guard copter suspended from the ceiling with a big Odie plush in the pilot's seat...quite funny actually:))
I can't really come up with anything good for this one, @Murdoch17 won.
@Binnekamp:
31013 managed to yield a different look.
i hav this one

Hatredcopter x8"
Sounds a bit more intense than the Rattlecopter (9443) or the Helicrocter (The back half of 70006 and 70227. Yes, there's TWO!). Probably not as intense as the Typhoon T-1 (7477) but nothing is.
I'd love to own a Hatredcopter someday. A man can dream...
I'm pretty sure I had this one. Very cute
You have to wonder sometimes who the better designers are: the larger set builders or smaller ones, this little helicopter makes use of limited parts to make a fairly good representation using only 'x' many parts as its a 'polybag' set, and most have to be smaller parts as well.
