So where does the second guy go when they pick up who's being rescued?

@MCLegoboy:
Clearly the second guy crashed one of the terrible alt models, and the first guy is there to rescue him.

I forgot how much character these technic figures brought to the build. Something about them just works.

What's not to like? Cool technic figures, Black, white, Trans Neon green!

Hmmm, that normal green though. Yah, gotta get rid of that.

I was still a few years off from 10 when Technic figures were a thing, and I've gotta say, I still have a bit of a soft spot for them. I wouldn't be against them coming back in some capacity.* Even better would be that, being brought back in this day and age, we would probably get both male and female variations.

* That's not just a 'when pigs fly,' scenario. That's like, 'when pigs build their own space program and run a successful pigged mission to Titan.'

I like how they disguised one of the figures with a visor down to make it seem like they were distinct figures rather than twins.

He just doesn't want anyone to see his face in case they might recognize him.

Hey, their job is just to rescue someone- not give them a ride home after!

By in United States,

I agree, those Technic figures were great- and a lot of Technic sets had the seats for them, like 8858 Rebel Wrecker- an awesome set made even better with a crew!
8286 3-in-1 Car is a great set with a confusing name- the main model is a car, a trailer, and a helicopter; the alternate build is a car, a trailer, and a submersible... I just don't get the name, but it's a fun set.

Peak “Weird Technic”.

They definitely did. You should look at the instructions for this model- it's modular and combines with other technic releases from that year.

By in Netherlands,

I've got to hand it to them, this set looks like a lot of fun in the sheer playability department.
Even if it was a system set that modularity would still be incredible. And it doesn't look half bad if you have some imagination. The 1998-1999 era of technic had a great aesthetic.

@thor96 in addition the set itself provides some combinations. These are shown on the right of the main image.

Ok, ok, OK...I'll rescue the bike...driver and passenger are on their own...:D

By in Netherlands,

I love how the instructions show you a way to motorize it.

I am however doubting how useful it will be, since you're only motorizing the wheel of the sidecart. Doubt the thing will drive straight.

Hence my use of word 'modular' for description of this set :)

Going to be honest, a sidecar with a propeller like that is giving me real Wallace and Gromit vibes. Where does the porridge cannon emerge from?

I really miss those technic figures. Unfortunately the few I had eventually broke, I seem to remember them being quite fragile.

Also it says "Rescue" but is no one going to mention the boot knife they seem to be carrying??

I've also never seen part 32137 although only 0.08$ unlike the mini-figs which are n/a on Bricklink but the Technic team 8300-1 is around $50.
I like the way the legs go sideways so he can sit astride the motorcycle in the first alternative build even if his feet cannot touch the ground? Maybe something they should have included in Friends as about the same size and there are plenty of horses but guessing makes too easy to break.

They are great! I am planning on getting the 8855 Prop plane and when I do, I will probably put they guy into a few of my modern technic sets, like 42002, 42093, and 42071, just to see how he fits in. I do wonder if the figures fit into the 6268004 angular panel part TLG often uses as a seat in technic nowadays...

You try cutting a seatbelt with your bare hands, see how that goes.

I really don't get it. At all. Nope.

By in Turkey,

Side cart build actually looks good. I'll see if I can build the motorcyle on the bottom right.

I've never seen those Technic figs before. I don't have much USE for them (but let's not descend into the question of whether ANY part of a nonprofitable hobby has use...), but I like them! Regular green on a Technic fig just sounds exotic to me.

Also, this set has a model.
