I would love to see a classic remake of this set, like they've done with the Eldorado Fortress

By in Australia,

Just look at how beautiful it is.

That green baseplate alone is so pretty that it makes me want to cry.

By in Australia,

@Zordboy. Agreed. I love that baseplate, and in this case I think the printed baseplate is cool and useful. @lotographia A classic remake of this would be awesome, preferably with a 1970s or 1980s car.
I wish Lego still made nice houses like this. They stopped making houses for a loooong time aside from the occasional Creator one that is often specific to a certain area like the beach or forest, while the modern ones they've done lately just aren't as good.
I don't like how Lego is always trying to make a 'modern' house, which looks ugly, whereas this is great because it's not trying to be a house of the 1980s (which was 'modern' at the time), it's just a nice, charming Lego house that works for any era.

By in United States,

Not to be confused with a Christmas edition of "This Old House," as that would be a Holiday Vila.

By in New Zealand,

looks old enough to be on the vintage set of the week list.

Just imagine how many pieces it would take to recreate that fieldstone driveway....

And each one adds $1 to the price.

Awning stickers are the bane of my existence. While not in this particular example, awning stickers were designed to hang down off the parts to create that scalloped edge. Every set I have that is supposed to have those awning stickers (consider 376-2 and the comparable 560) has those stickers gone without a trace, because they are so easy to get caught on something. Frustration!

This set though, I like this set. Want that baseplate too. Bring back moonroofs!

@MeisterDad:
If they’re designed to hang over the edge, was that section sticky or not? If they had you put a sticky edge where it hangs off the part, that just seems irresponsible, but I also have a hard time seeing them being able to selectively leave a portion of the sticker material free of adhesive.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@PurpleDave I think the whole thing was sticky as I have seen pictures of the sticker sheets. In person, I have yet to meet one.

A beautiful set. Have the Paradisa version of the cobblestone baseplate and it is truly beautiful. Lego made a mistake switching to the new iteration of "baseplates" imo. Still, I'm eager to see how/if they will ever make a curving road.

By in Turkey,

I wasn't collecting town sets at the time but I've always loved the houses released in the 80's, such as this one. Later on, I have managed to replicate 6365, 6370 and 6372 over many years. And finally, just this year I've completed 6374 after getting my hands on that printed baseplate.

By in Malaysia,

Love these 80s houses! Still on wanted list though... the baseplate is hard to get now... : '(

By in Belgium,

I found this baseplate in a thrift store once, for €1 IIRC (could have been 2) but I haven't yet decided whether to complete this Holiday Villa or 6374 Holiday House... In that case it would definitely be without that awning though ;-)

The biggest problem with those awning stickers is that they were applied on slopes which have a rougher texture. That means that they don't stick as well as they do on the smoother surface of other Lego parts.

By in Spain,

I bought this set in a trip to Germany I did with my parents in 1988. One of the best houses ever. It has everything you need, and also has lot of playability. And it was the first time I saw a pan.

Nowadays, with 205 parts you barely get a Speed Champions car...

Last month I bought my 4th copy. Never tired of it.

By in United Kingdom,

Thought this was another Vintage set for a minute there; definitely got the same vibe as some of the houses we’ve had there

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

It looks nice and cozy.
That garage overhang though wouldn't fit anything even slightly taller than the car that's included here!

Whole thing was sticky! And to be fair, the overhang was rather tiny. Bigger problem was that they also often were STAMPs.

Never had a set with those myself, but the kids next door did (they got all the cool stuff...). And even as a kid, I absolutely hated those. Luckily it was a problem that usually solved itself, as especially on those rough surfaces the stickers never held for long, and turned non-sticky rather quickly.

Luckily this set was spared those problems, this is just classic Lego goodness!

By in Jersey,

Not quite sure why but never felt this one was as good as 6374. Still bought it anyway (secondhand, from a friend when it was only a couple of years old).

And always a joy to see that yellow banner on the Random Set image.

Of course, hardly any interior detail, which would get it slated by modern standard

By in Australia,

Boy do I miss baseplates. This one is just so beautiful.

By in United States,

Beautiful set! It's not just the parts and palette that make this look pre-1992 to me (i.e. "before my time), but the subject matter: everyone above is right that houses like this were just missing from LEGO's set list for a long time. The late aughts Designer/Creator sets get closest, but those were minifig-less.

And the more said about that beautiful baseplate, the better!

Quick, nobody tell them about my 6-wide Mater MOC that’s 378pcs!

Well, its got quit a lot of interior detail for the day: a kitchen with pan, oven, stove, a dinig area with table and chair, a telephone near the entrance and a bed in the bedroom.

Perfect vintage charm!

Yes, but today it would be 150 1x1 played/tiles/cheese slopes...

By in Belgium,

Pretty sure this is the set that started it all for me! Hence why it has a special place in my heart.
But ignoring that, it's just such a damn perfect little set.

By in France,

This one is a brilliant successor of the Holiday home 6374 . In 1988, I saw it in the Lego catalogs, and it was such a cool house. But I was into Technic sets, at the time, and already had the 6374 and 6372 .
Fortunately I found it on Ebay during to 2000's

The new 60398 has a similar spirit, (closer to the 6374 ) but the lack of a real baseplate is obvious when we compare the houses from the 80's to a 2023 set, even the house 31139 Creator 3 in 1 . The modular design is a cool idea, but it creates ugly houses.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

I remember wanting this set a kid. We didn’t have the money but l loved watching it in the catalogue :D - together with other big sets.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

My first LEGO set ever. I still have it, but with a bent trash can lid. The search for a new lid led me to the world of AFOLS ;) It's not just nostalgy, this set is really perfect.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I was around 5 years wenn I first noticed this set. Which is a big thing for a kid that's obsessed with cars and therefore has only one priority. It was way more than just the car and a very interesting road plate. It looked like a real, modern house! And it still does today. Technically, 6374 offers a superior inventory and playable inside space, this, however provides the look of a home that lets a lot of light in.
Bought this just last year and I'm so, so happy to finally own it!
