I want to give my dad the recognition he deserves, as a LEGO designer in the 80s on the TOWN theme and in the early 90s as the creator/co-creator of the 9V train theme.

He’s also the person behind some of the most used speciality bricks in the last 30 years:
The 1x2 flat tile “the grille” (part 2412a/b)
The 1x2 profile brick (part 2877)
The 2x2 corner plate (part 2420)
The 2x2 corner brick (part 2357)

On part 2412, the grille - he specifically mentions that Godtfred Kirk Christiansen was against the design, seeing as there were no studs on top, but it was approved eventually, mainly due to Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen supporting the design.

After this, he worked on many of the classic Miniland dioramas in LEGOLAND Billund and LEGOLAND Windsor, before departing LEGO and LEGOLAND altogether in the late 90s.

I try to include upcoming sets, even if they are still leaks. The rumored Minas Tirith around 8K pieces has not been added to the database yet. Same with the rumored 12K piece Architecture set. I will update as soon as information is available!

This list reached a milestone in 2023 - every set in this list is over 4000 pieces! I remember starting this list circa 2017-2018 and only about five or six sets at the time were over 4000, with number 35 reaching as low as the 2700s. Interesting to see how quickly large sets like these have been coming out!

The set 40179 Personalized Mosaic is not included because it is not the same set every time. It has the same number of pieces in every set, but the final product is never consistent. In addition, there are two versions of the set, one with 4,502 pieces, and one with 6,002 pieces which adds to the inconsistency.

I have a background as a Mechanical Engineer. After my studies, I resumed my childhood interest in building with LEGO Bricks as my hobby. Later, I applied for the job as LEGO Designer and began 1. August 1997.

Over the years I have worked on more than 30 different LEGO themes and designed - or co-designed - more than 140 LEGO sets.

It has been my pleasure to work together with so many wonderful and multi-talented creative people within model-design, graphic-design and sculpture-design. All of them are great colleagues, and I am proud to call many of them my very best friends.

It´s important to emphasize, that making a new LEGO set and bringing it to the marked, is a very complex process that involves the skills, knowledge, experience and enthusiasm from hundreds of LEGO employees in many different departments: Design, Marketing, Building Instruction, Production, Packaging, Distribution and more. The goal is to make each LEGO set the best possible building- and play experience for our customers, and it only becomes possible, because everyone is working together to achieve this.
For this reason, and because I am a very strong believer in fairness, I have credited the colleagues, that I have worked together with on the various sets.

When new LEGO sets (that I have designed) have been released, I will continue to update this list with information which I hope will be interesting to LEGO enthusiasts of all ages.

1) I received some information via The Lego House contact e-mail. In anticipation of the Grand Old Designer Evening, I asked them what sets I could bring to get signed. They kindly contacted one of the designers attending the event and asked them if he could mark some sets in my spreadsheet of owned sets that he worked on.

2) Astrid Mueller sent out an e-mail listing some additional sets that Steen designed.

3) Some different sets where shown during the Grand Old Designer Evening and were also discussed by Steen.

4) Additional information was received from Astrid Mueller through e-mail with some more sets designed by Steen.

This is a list of every Star Wars ship that has been re-made as of 2011. It does not include sets with ships that have been re-released, but not changed (7140 X-Wing as 7142 for example). It also does not include ships that have been repackaged with different or more ships, but not redesigned (7146 Tie Fighter repackaged in 10131 Tie Collection or 7166 Imperial Shuttle in 7264 Imperial Inspection). It will not include mini-scale or midi-scale sets, only system/minifigure. Ultimate Collector Series sets are also omitted, UNLESS they are minifigure scale. Sets redesigned for the Clone Wars TV series are inlcuded. If a ship is part of a larger set (the redesigned AT-ST in the Battle of Endor, for example) it will be inlcuded. The purpose of this list is to assess LEGO's redesigns and determine whether they are improvements or not. It also serves as general reference.

This is a list for making a Hogwarts from the Harry Potter theme. It would be rather expensive to follow this list, so it is more for inspirtation. Most of the sets listed are sets that I built sketch models for, many of them were completed by another designer, so why are they on my list? I've often work in the role of "Idea Guy" or Concept Designer where I bridged the gap between wild ideas and realistic execution.

Back in 2011, while working as a Master Model Builder for the LEGOLAND Parks, I pitched a LEGO Batman expansion area. It never worked out for a variety of licensing/timing/business reasons, but during my research, I rediscovered my love of Batman The Animated Series and the sprawling architecture of the neo futuristic 'Dark Deco' distopian city of Gotham. Inspiration lead me to build my own Gotham City at home, but progress paused when I moved to Denmark. The idea for Gotham as a set was in the back of my head for over a decade! My old Flickr page has an image of the Gotham City I was building at home, along with the caption "Gotham WIP. Coming soon." Admittedly, 12+ years stretches the definition of "soon" but we got there eventually.

-Besides Batman and Gray Ghost, there are 30 characters hidden throughout the set, 3 of which are represented using only bricks. Major kudos to anyone who can identify all 30!
-The instructions include an episode to pair with each of the 44 number bags. The episode names in the instructions correlate with the reference material for the part of the model built in that numbered bag- In other words, you can see what you're building on screen while you build it! So if you want to watch again (of course right?!) you can check out how close I kept the design to the source material.
-Despite the clouds all angling from top left to bottom right, the number of Left elements and Right elements are balanced evenly.

A list of sets that have either been altered whilst available or are re releases of previous sets; this may be for aesthetics, part availability, function, structural integrity or other reasons.

Criteria:
1. Changes in mould or print (including changes causing new piece/item number) don't count. This would also cover minor changes e.g. adding pupils to an existing head design, or updating a head to a 'gap stud' from a 'solid stud'.
2. Sets released containing the same parts but different packaging or year of release won't be listed
3. Sets where the design has been reworked due to parts change(s) WILL be included, e.g. #4563 redesign due to reduced cab cut-out

A list of all the Lego animals, to collect or get the instructions from brickset and build them. I bet there are some you didn't know about!
There are a few which you'd be better off buying as sets, such as larger animals like Shelob and Deep Sea Predators, or those with rarer pieces (like the green hinge on the frogs legs).
The criteria I've used are:
- Brick-built rather than moulded.
- Realistic, rather than pilotted by minifigs, or generally made-up (although I couldn't resist including the disabled grasshopper!).

A list of the modern one mini-figure impulse sets introduced by Lego in 2008. All impulse sets contain one mini-figure and a small amount of utilities for the figure to interact with. The impulse sets should not be confused with polybags or other promotional sets. The mini-figure impulse sets are special as they are all delivered in a real Lego box like other mainstream Lego sets. However, the box is very small. A mini-figure impulse set normally contains between 15 and 30 bricks. Price is between US$3 and US$5 depending on place of purchase. Lego ended the series in 2010. Here are examples of sets excluded from the list on purpose as they do not really fit the definition above: All polybags and promotional sets, 4933 Street Sweeper, 5373 Knight & Catapault and 7901 Airplane Mechanic.

A list of the Lego Advent Calendars released for the Christmas season throughout the years. The calendars started to appear in 1998 and at least one has been released every year since. The list is sorted by year of appearence.

Note, the unreleased 4424 (https://brickset.com/sets/4424-1/) calendar from 2005 has not been included.

Here is a guide to the various minifig magnet sets, showing which ones are not glued to the base and which ones are glued to the base.

Since I like collecting minifigs, I was thinking it might be helpful to start a Bricklist of the minifig magnet sets and have them listed by those that have removeable minifigs and those that have glued minifigs. The reason this idea came up was I had set #852948-1 (Female Minifigure Magnet Set) still on card and I was thinking about getting rid of it (I had no use for the minifigs if they were glued to their magnetic bases). Once I found out the minifigs could be removed, I changed my mind and decided to keep this set.

Since then I've thought about getting other magnet sets, but I found it difficult to find out exactly which ones are glued and which ones aren't. I thought a Bricklist would not only help me, but other minifig collectors as well.

Thanks to Farmer_John and akunthita I learned a little something about these magnet sets. Basically anything before 2011 is not glued, while anything after is glued. There is apparently some overlap with some sets that were sold both ways. When in doubt, the later sets state on the backside that the minifigs are not detachable.

This is a list of movies (not in chronological order) that has Lego sets (not all sets are listed, only one set is listed per movie) where the sets are tied into the movie. It does not include sets with characters that has appeared in movies (e.g. Mickey Mouse). Some of these sets were released years after the movies were first shown (e.g. Star Wars Eps 4 - 6). Others were release at about the same time as the movie (e.g. Harry Potter).

The oil company Shell and Lego goes back a long way. There were Shell sets even before there was minifigs. The first sets were 325 and 491 (neither of which are available in this database). A Shell "subtheme" was launched with the minifigs in 1978. Even after "Octan" was introduced in the 1990s as the oil brand in Lego, Shell continued to produce special Lego sets, some of them with Shell's logo.

Shell and Lego signed an agreement in 1996/97 to cross promote the other's product and although this lasted until 1999, a large number of sets were made. Shell and Lego's cooperation continues at present with the Ferrari license.

A collection of Star Wars sets calculated to be true minifigure scale. Minifigure scale is being defined as 1/45 regarding the height of the minifigure, and the length of sets on this list are within 10% perfectly to scale. Only the most "to-scale" version of each ship is displayed. Sets are ordered from most to least "to-scale".

I am quite surprised that no one so far has made this list!

Here are all the sets with the pre minifig minifigs. They only lasted from 1975 to 1977. The figs already have a yellow head but no face. And no moving arms or legs, just a slightly glimpse of arms and feet.

Men got on their head a cap or cowboy hat, women got the famous pigtail. A 1x2 plate becomes a belt or a neckerchief for cowboys. So, 4 parts with up to two additional parts made a minifig in those days. In 1980 there was a cameo of this sort of minifig, find out in which set that was!

As many are aware, the Lego Star Wars lineup is well known for redesigning and re-releasing sets within a few years. Not counting UCS or mini sets, we've had four Millennium Falcons, four X-Wings (the original trilogy T-65s), four Sith Infiltrators, three TIE Fighters, you get the idea.

For the record, I don't have a problem with this as they're great opportunities to acquire ships you may have missed out on and the newer versions are generally more detailed with better construction. It's rare for a redesign to be worse than it's predecessor (except for 75058 MTT from 2014). However, in over ten years of the theme there are a few ships and locations that have only been represented in Lego form once and are due for a redesign.

NOTE: The notes alongside the sets will be updated accordingly when these ships/locations are redesigned in an official Lego set.

Exactly like the title says, in order from highest to lowest piece count. Must be retail sets, no collections, no assorted bricks. Hope to keep it up-to-date as more sets come out.

Because I searched for a Bricklist like this and couldn't find one, I created this one. I have decided not to include ancient Egyptian sets, because that would make this list contain two whole themes (Pharaohs Quest and Adventures Desert). I also didn't include the games 3841-1: Minotaurus and 3864-1: Mini Taurus because there aren't any ancient Roman or Greek people/things in the games (apart from the microfigures).

After doing my Jango Fett list, I realized that I was out of ideas for STAR WARS minifigure lists already, so I made one for Sirius Black and found Harry Potter ones much easier. Here we go. . . .

The space small sets were in the 6820-6839 range. The Larger small sets started in the 6841-6854 range.

Once upon a time, Seaquest DSV was rather popular and had a substantial following. Around the same time, Lego released underwater sets trying to find some medium of success. Sadly, none of those themes/subthemes survive to this day.

Note, this list only includes those Lego sub-themes that were focus on underwater adventure themes. It does not include underwater individual sets such as Technic submarines (8250) or the Gungan Sub (7161) or Harry Potter's Mer people (4762). It also does not focus on sub-themes that revolves on the surface of the Ocean/Sea (e.g. Pirates or Ships).

To Celebrate the 10th year of Bionicle products (and its end), I'll be doing my own classification for the Bionicle sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to check their history through the years. This list shows one set per Canister series, featuring each different construction or design style. The Canister included in this list are from 2004-2005. Although there were practically four different forms of construction (Toa Metru, Vahki, Toa Hordika and Visorak), they share common characteristics to be in the same list, as all or almost all of them usually featured darker tones of the original colors; were the first ones to introduce the newest "pelvis" pieces which are used in recent sets and reduced the number of gears in order to get more playability through balljoints. All in all, it was the transition between "Technic Bionicle" to "Balljoint Bionicle", and those equalized very well building to playability and useability to design. R4-P17 was Obi Wan Kenobi's faithful astromech droid until the battle of Courusaunt (I don't care how I spell it) until a lonebuzz droid ripped her head off with its saw. R4-P17 was then replaced by R4-G9.

This is what, 4 in 3 years?

Subthemes usually contains 5 sets or more. However, there are some (not so?) memorable subthemes with less than 5 sets. Below is a list (not a comprehensive list) of subthemes with 4 or less sets.

Classic Castle theme (as opposed to the town subtheme before 1984) was launched with 8 sets in 1984 - see http://brickset.com/bricklists/?75 and was expanded in the first cycle - see http://brickset.com/bricklists/?156 . This cycle was defined by the Gold Lions vs the Black Falcons

1988 marked the start of the second cycle - see http://brickset.com/brickLists/?170 - and continued until about 1991. This cycle was defined by the Forestmen and the Black Knights, but the Gold Lions and the Black Falcons sets were still being produced in this cycle.

The third cycle began in 1992, and unlike the previous two cycles, only lasted for 3 years. The cycle was dominated by the Dragon Masters and had the Wolfpack as the enemies. The Black Falcons and the Forestmen were not included in this cycle, but the Black Knights and the Gold Lions did make a appear briefly in the first year of the cycle.

The fourth cycle was a simple cycle in the mid 90s. Lego was beginning to shorten the cycle duration right about now, and the fourth cycle only lasted for about 2 years spanning 1995 and 1996. The cycle had the Royal Knights as the main focus and the Dark Forest as the Forestmen replacement.

In the 1980s lego released 4 different sets containing the exonn logo

I've always been a bit of a History geek, I really have fallen in love with the feel of the 30's and 40's. From the beautiful Art Deco to the World War, these are sets that I feel captures the greatness of these decades.

This is probably the best Bricklist 4 Star Wars, Buy an ARC-170 and another Clone Pilot, then a Droid Tri-Fighter then Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter. this would make a good Battle and a Diorama of Plo Koon's death in Cato Nemeoidia.

To Celebrate the 14th year of TECHNIC Based Action Figures, I'll be doing my own classification of the sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to analyze their history through the years. This list contains the different styles of construction present in the Hero Factory Canister sets. The villains are not packed in canisters, but their price is the same as the 2008 Mistika - 2009 Glatorian Legends lines, so they'll be included. From 2012 to 2014, Villains and Heroes were randomly chosen to have different prices and the series lost its already messed up color code, so defining a line between the series became a problem. They range from "8 to 10 dollars" to "small canisters" and from "12 to 15" to "canisters", even though, to enter in accordance with my other lists, 15 dollars is the cost of Titan sets already - so no pricey set here (no super heroes, Chima, Ben 10 or Invasion from Below. Starting in 1978 with the Yellow Castle LEGO made a lot of castle's with several theme's. They changed from the basic castle to a variety of surprising buildings with great traps and surprises. The last castle in the Kingdom theme is a bit back to basic which resulted in a great castle again. I only list the sets I consider the real "main" castle's from the theme's. Some themes like Wolfpack, Ninja's and Forresters have great sets too but not a real big Castle.

Although other themes like Pirates and Harry Potter have castle's too I only added the "real" Knight Castle's, my personal favorites.

I had the idea of recreating Sirius Black (from Harry Potter). This minifigure uses what pieces we have gained since 2004 (when he was first released) and now, 2011. This redesign is based on what face he has in the new Hogwarts Castle with the Gryffindor fireplace.

To Celebrate the 10th year of Bionicle products (and its end), I'll be doing my own classification of the Bionicle sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to see their history through the years. Bionicle ended with very different moves. What was meant to be "Small sets" were already surpassing the prices of what in 2001 would be considered Canisters. Now, the Bionicle Stars already have Canisters and are more expensive than the Toa Mata. This move will continue with the next line of Action Figures based in Ball joint/socket building as well. Characteristics of all those sets are the inheritance of the very easy Av-Matoran building; their body piece includes 5 glued ball-joints; their limbs includes both socket and ball-joints at its extremities; they have the head completely translucent; they have the worst price per piece count of all Bionicle history to date and they still follow the superficial differences of mask/weapons to give personality to the set. There were a number of castle sets released prior to the launch of the "Classic Castle" sets of 1984. These castle sets were part of the town sets as evidenced by the blue background on the boxes and instructions (instead of the more common yellow for the post 1984 sets). The yellow castle is the most well know set of the era, but there are a number of other sets as well.

My goal is to own every Lego Castle set, or one that includes medieval elements !

The numbers in the description I have provided may not be exact - usually one or two people add each set to their collections every day and so the number constantly is increasing. Every once in a while I will update the list with correct numbers.

On February 1st, 2023, thirteen upcoming LEGO sets were leaked from a survey conducted to gauge how participants felt about the sets at certain price points. With one exception, these sets would not start to hit shelves until over a year later, seeing release throughout 2024. It is remembered as the biggest and earliest leak the LEGO community had ever witnessed.

Only one set from the leak, a brick-built model of Donald Duck, has yet to be confirmed for release.

These are the sets I was tasked to do the final product design. Thank you to all my awesome colleagues involved!

This is a list of the eight 1984 Castle sets that re-"launched" the Castle theme. The new colour scheme of yellow (instead of the normal town blue) was chosen for the background of the sets, and many regional companies had competitions featuring castle sets and a trip to Legoland Billund as the grand prize around this time.

In the 80s, most themes had a "cycle" of 3 - 4 years (the lead time of the design cycle), with a lot of new sets during the first year, then dribbles and drabs in the next 2 or 3 years.

The first castle theme cycle lasted from 1984 to 1987. This list details the sets from 1985 - 1987 (again with comments!).

The fifth cycle was a time when Lego was trying to compress its cycles and consequently only lasted about one and a half years. The cycle had the Fright Knights as the main focus.

rescued chancellor Palpitine above Coruscant while Mace Windu and other Jedi destroyed the droids invading Coruscant. Calsulites included R4-P17 and R4-M6, as well as six jedi and numerous clone troopers.

This list contains micro-scale modular buildings sets from 2012 and 2014 (TRU exclusive) and one set which is related with these.

This is a list of every set that has had one or many of the LEGO Nanofigures, also known as Statuettes.

First appearing in LEGO Minifigures series 2 with the Karate Master this small piece has become a great way of populating micro mocs. Since then there has been many different colours of this piece and even some printed ones.

Since 2014, sets based on both the Ghostbusters reboot and classic 80s film have had a presence in multiple themes. Here's a list of them all!

This is a list that (hopefully) represents every movie-related IP in LEGO. Given the potential for grey areas in such a list, I have put some ground rules/criteria in place: 1) ONE set per IP has been included. Most IPs have entire themes dedicated to the source material (e.g. Jurassic World). In these cases, only one set is chosen to represent the IP. This will be the highest rated set, based on Brickset user reviews; 2) This is also the case for IPs that have multiple films represented in LEGO. For example, the Indiana Jones theme has sets based on each film in the trilogy (yes, there are only three Indiana Jones films o_o), but only one set is selected to represent the theme; 3) The exception to this rule is Star Wars, given what a behemoth of a theme it is. In this list, there is a set representing the original trilogy, prequel trilogy, and The Force Awakens (eventually becoming the 'new' trilogy). This is somewhat arbitrary on my part; if you don't like it, make your own Bricklist :) 4) In some cases, a film IP is represented across multiple themes rather than a single theme (e.g. Ghostbusters is spread across its own general theme, LEGO Ideas, and LEGO Dimensions). However, a single set from the combined themes is selected; 5) For 'umbrella' IPs (e.g. Marvel, DC), a set from each distinct film-based IP is chosen. For example, under the Marvel theme the list includes sets for Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Civil War, and so on; 6) In the case of superhero IPs, only film-specific sets are included. For example, Deadpool and X-Men have feature film franchises, but the LEGO sets featuring these characters are based on comic books and cartoons, and therefore not included. This is why, for example, the 2003/2004 Spider-Man theme is included, but the Ultimate Spider-Man subtheme is not. This rule also applies to non-superhero IPs, e.g. Simpsons House is excluded because it's not specific to The Simpsons Movie.

Released in 1999, LEGO Racers features many locales and characters from the popular Pirates, Castle, Space, and Adventurers themes. In 2012 they should remake/re-release these great sets with modern day LEGO technology. There should be four battle packs: REGULAR stormtrooper battle pack, REGULAR battle droid pack, REGULAR clone battle pack, and a Endor rebel trooper battle pack. As you know, battle packs come with 2 soldiers, an officer, and an engineer. These should come with 4 soldiers and an officer.

The winners were announced on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLG8KCwMSK0, on the 24th of July 2011. The prizes were all collected from a British Newspaper called "The Sun".

To Celebrate the 14th year of TECHNIC Based Action Figures, I'll be doing my own classification of the sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to analyze their history through the years.

What happened betwwen episode 4 and 5?

This list include all Lego sets which have a complete windsurf set, a windsurf sail or a surfboard. Within Leisure and Paradisa, a subthemes of town, the first windsurf Lego sets were introduced in 1992. Also parts of the cool but rare windsurf equipment is used in sets; surf sails for sailboats and after the end of Paradisa windsurf boards for wave riding. Recent the little surfboards for wave riding are released in the Collectable Minifigures and Creator sets. This list gives an overview of Lego surfing through the years, it's return so now and then and see surf sets almost always have an rating around 4 bricks!

This list includes all mandalorians that are available from minifig scale sets. It does not include special polybag, book, or minifighter set mandalorians. I put this together to see what it takes to get all the mandalorian lego minis by name (ie only need one Djinn/Boba) and I only need Super Commando and Sabine. Hope this helps anyone trying to do the same!

All the sets that include minifig-scale Infinity Stones from the MCU, and the gauntlets that accept them. In the sets inspired by Avengers: Infinity War, the only way to get a full set of the stones was to buy each set in the line, as they were individual pack-ins. By the time Avengers: Endgame rolled around, a full Infinity Gauntlet and Nano Gauntlet could be compiled simply by purchasing two sets, 76131 and 76144. These days, it's a lot easier to get the whole thing in one shot.

Basically, it's the same set since Minifig's were introduced in 1978: 1 Fire Chief, their personal response unit only and maybe a side build and another person to rescue. ATV's are okay, but no heavy trucks or motorcycles. Themes: Town, Jack Stone, 4 Juniors, Juniors, World City, City.

Only "City" sets (2005-). Sets like Modular Buildings, Town Plan or licensed like 4999 aren't included on this list. The list was too long, so I split it into two.

These are sets with the spiral bound instructions, and not the classic stapled or glued ones. I have no idea how accurate this is, as in I do not know if this list is complete or not.

Starting in 2018, various UK supermarket chains have been receiving a box of five polybags and selling them at a retail price of £3.50. Here are all the years

During 2021 select larger Co-ops and Sainsburys received these boxes too. ASDA and Tesco both seem to stock them yearly, since 2019, Tesco has had them from the start in 2018 (even the smaller Superstores and even some Express stores)

Polybag Mixtrays tend to cost £3.50 - £4.00, though sometimes shops selling them will run offers, Tesco occasionally run 2 for £5 on them. Plus they will get clearanced on, though likely popular polybags will have long gone by this time.

Childhood sets (preceding a 44 year Dark Age)

The game world of Bricklandia is filled with unique vehicles as well as from several official LEGO sets, from the newest releases to old classics. (WIP)

As of the Season 4 update most everything have been made available to buy from Unkie's Emporium, unless otherwise noted.

The game has rarity rankings of Neat, Cool, Awesome, and Super Awesome. Most theme vehicles are in categories but some City and Creator-originated vehicles aren't.

This set is featuring all of the best from the 4th Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A list of all buildings released for the LEGO Town theme (1978-2004), organised by release year. Houses, shops, city services, etc. I've avoided including repeats/re-releases unless they include significant changes.
