This list is a selection of complex Bionicle sets that includes functions within them. Some have alternate models, combo models, gear functions and even RCX controls. The sets are listed by number of pieces.

It enlists all 2001-2002 Big Sets, as they were all cosidered as Technic sets, since Bionicle was meant to be buildable figures with Technic pieces.
It also includes almost all Battle vehicles, except some from 2009, that, while having good piece count, includes no gear functions or have predictable building.
Skopio's building is repetitive but not challenging at all, and he has no gear functions, but his pieces make up for him to be on this list.

We used to know of only one member. Now we know of a lot more. This includes all Makuta, the most powerful villains in the Bionicle story.

This list includes all sets with something non-canon in it. That means, story-wise that the set does not have any storyline influence or has something that was never in the story. This does not include non-canon alternate models. This also does not include promos.

These games first appeared in 2001. Now, they have brought one very good game. This list includes the Bionicle video games and interesting facts about them. Since they were on many different systems, I will list only the PC version of that game, or the only system it was on.

Although there were practically four different forms of construction (Toa Metru, Vahki, Toa Hordika and Visorak), they share common characteristics to be in the same list, as all or almost all of them usually featured darker tones of the original colors; were the first ones to introduce the newest "pelvis" pieces which are used in recent sets and reduced the number of gears in order to get more playability through balljoints. All in all, it was the transition between "Technic Bionicle" to "Balljoint Bionicle", and those equalized very well building to playability and useability to design. Although there were practically three different forms of construction (Toa, Bohrok and Rahkshi), they share common characteristics to be in the same list, as all of them included functions to moves limbs (or head, in the case of the Bohrok and Bohrok-Kal) through gears in their construction; included parts with obviously Technic design, then granting a good construction and great functionality to those sets and their content (technic-based pieces) and had partial limitation with Balljoint articulations. This is a list of Not Bionicle, Nor Ben 10 Like Toys. This list is for 6" Figures or over made up of Bricks.

To Celebrate the 14th year of TECHNIC Based Action Figures, I'll be doing my own classification of the sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to analyze their history through the years. This list contains the different styles of construction present in the Hero Factory Canister sets. The villains are not packed in canisters, but their price is the same as the 2008 Mistika - 2009 Glatorian Legends lines, so they'll be included. From 2012 to 2014, Villains and Heroes were randomly chosen to have different prices and the series lost its already messed up color code, so defining a line between the series became a problem. They range from "8 to 10 dollars" to "small canisters" and from "12 to 15" to "canisters", even though, to enter in accordance with my other lists, 15 dollars is the cost of Titan sets already - so no pricey set here (no super heroes, Chima, Ben 10 or Invasion from Below. This list includes all Bionicle sets that contain System pieces. Some sets such as 8594 Jaller and Gukko contain relatively uninteresting system pieces (2 red studs) and have been excluded.

Throwbot/Slizer disks were among the first TECHNIC projectiles. They later appeared in some BIONICLE sets. This is a list with every set ever released that has at least one disk.

Since 2006, Lego developed a new pattern to the construction style of the Bionicle canister sets, which is pratically followed until now. Some notable characteristics and similarities among the canister sets of 2006-2009 are the lack of complex Technic-based functions, such as the traditional gears; the use of pre-developed body pieces with ball joints glued in the lateral sides; the increasement of sizes and costs, but not necessarily number of pieces included per sets; the use of launching weapons, no matter how bad they can be connected in the set; the priorization of addictive design and free playability, not priorization of application of complex manual functions or new kinds of construction (though it still having some exceptions) and all the sets usually have the average of 13 articulations. The name "Mask of Life" is used in the title of the list because it is the factor in the Bionicle story which links the years of 2006-2009. To Celebrate the 10th year of Bionicle products (and its end), I'll be doing my own classification of the Bionicle sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to see their history through the years. Bionicle ended with very different moves. What was meant to be "Small sets" were already surpassing the prices of what in 2001 would be considered Canisters. Now, the Bionicle Stars already have Canisters and are more expensive than the Toa Mata. This move will continue with the next line of Action Figures based in Ball joint/socket building as well. Characteristics of all those sets are the inheritance of the very easy Av-Matoran building; their body piece includes 5 glued ball-joints; their limbs includes both socket and ball-joints at its extremities; they have the head completely translucent; they have the worst price per piece count of all Bionicle history to date and they still follow the superficial differences of mask/weapons to give personality to the set. I know that bionicle have ended, but it is still one of my favorite themes. The chronicler's company is the player(Takua)'s squad, of which he is the leader of. It appeared in the famous 2001 Bionicle game called Mata Nui Online Game, or MNOLG for short.(If you haven't played it, you may want to try downloading and playing it at http://bionicleonlinegamesarchive.weebly.com/mata-nui-online-game-2001.html just to get the back-story.)

Note: I never made this. it's a difficult feat, and I lack funds. It would be awesome if someone actually did this bricklist.
