UCS Tumbler confirmed
Posted by Huw,
USA Today has just published an article that confirms the release of the much-rumoured UCS Tumbler in September:
"A LEGO Tumbler, the Caped Crusader's black armored vehicle of choice in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight movie trilogy, will be on display at Comic-Con this week beginning Wednesday. Following the pop-culture convention, which runs through July 27, the Tumbler toy (1,869 pieces, $199) goes on sale at LEGO stores and shop.LEGO.com in September.
"Measuring 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide, the LEGO Tumbler has an armored exterior, adjustable wings, a detailed interior (with a console screen that reads "INTIMIDATE") and oversized rubber-tread tires. It also comes with a fact sheet about the vehicle from the movies.
"If you're into character mini-figures, the stars of the set are a Christian Bale-styled Batman and the Joker, the first time Heath Ledger's The Dark Knight take on the villain has appeared in LEGO form."
Looks pretty cool, doesn't it...
Thanks Bezley for the tip-off.

Now that is completely awesome :D definitely getting a couple of those.
Awesome awesome awesome! Can't wait!!! :)
Yes, I cant wait. :D
are those new tires on the front?
I've been wanting one of these for years!!! Simply awesome!!
This seems like it will be a wallet emptying end of the year. Wow, this is a really impressive set, every detail is awesome and is accurate. Now, imagine if you could power function it, that would be epic. Gunna have to get this one, no doubt about it.
That looks amazing, not even a fan of batman but will have to get this, this is turning into an expensive year for me
Amazing. Looks better than I expected and I believe many will get this dust magnet. I believe I prefer Banes one - and add Arkham for the same price as this one. Still, this is looking great.
These are the first batman and joker minifigs, I'd like to have in my collection.
Noooooo, i can't belive it!!!! I thought they would never have produced such detailed Tumbler
So, is that picture the official picture?
I wonder why there weren't there any sets with the Heath Ledger joker when the movie came out.
That... is... so cool! I'm not even into Superheroes myself, but I'm impressed with this model. Too bad the price will probably translate to £150-£170, which is just too much for me to pay. If only LEGO would stop finding ingenious ways to extract cash from me with all their other lines and offers! ;-P
LEGO is killing me. They keep introducing so many sets that I want I just can't keep up.....correction, my wallet can't keep up.
I am interested in seeing more of those gold colored hubs...
LEGO.com VIP early access beginning August 18th....COULD IT BE??????
Love it love it love it! A must have. Although, I never noticed all the gold though. This model is extremely detailed, and is going to be MINE! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I mean, I would like to own this set. And to think: I was just about to buy all the guardians of the galaxy sets. Well, Batman or Star Lord? Ouch.
Is it weird that I'm more interested in the minifigures than the vehicle itself?
I'm actually a little disappointed. I'm more impressed with the minifigs than the Tumbler. At this price point, I expect more customized exterior pieces to smooth it out, like they've done with every other Lego Batman vehicle, as opposed to all the exposed studs. I'm sure that's just me and I still love the overall look; just could have been better.
I want those tires :O
This will probably be the final "Nolan trilogy" set we get, not that there has been a great deal of them before! The idea of the Dark Knight trilogy's scenes and character immoralised in Lego form excites us more than the possibility of Lego Doctor Who! So whilst I'm overcome with joy at the news of this model's release, I mourn the loss of some incredible minifigs it could have included. Ledger's Joker will be awesome, but it would've been great to get Alfred or Lucius to add to the small collection of characters.
Oh man.....OH MAN!
Should be 15 inches long, not tall, no one caught that?
Maybe its tumbling end over end…?
@polyester333 don't forget this is a UCS set, and weirdly they traditionally have a more studded aesthetic than some of the more smoothed out modern sets such as the Creator Expert line.
This is amazing! A must have, although waiting for the Australian price conversion is a little nerve wracking. That said, if it has the removable bat pod I will *need* to add it to my collection, regardless of price!

more details here :D
Yes Mr. Wayne...it comes in black.
OMG finaly, amazing
This is the Tumbler we deserve... and the one we need.
I want that Joker!!
I hope they mean 15 inches long, not tall
WOW. This looks fantastic....I'm curious as to how they achieved all those angles without illegal connections.
For me it looks very messy and fragile.
I wonder how much Technic is in there. It looks like possibly some rear suspension and maybe steering, but I don't see a Hand of God wheel anywhere. This will determine whether or not I get one as I don't care at all about Batman. Cool car, though!
^^^ Sadly I don't think there is any suspension or steering... They are using worm gears to give off the appearance of shocks... It's a shame, this could have had some great potential for a few simple functions...
@Faefrost, good point about the UCS being a little more studded. I think it's really just the sides that bother me. It could just look a bit more sleek; the rest of it is ruggid enough, I think. Even the UCS Batmobile had smoother side paneling. But anyway, what's done is done.
My wallet is weeping.
Hope there is space for PF's :-)
Need to see them detailed images and the interior 'cause that outside 1-side look sure doesn't get my heart pounding. I own every Super Heroes set to date not including the Steamroller which is the last one I haven't bought yet, but this besides the 2 minifigs especially the Joker one doesn't seem to me like something I'm going to buy. Unless a review or some extra pics convince me otherwise.
EDIT: I just had a look at the extra images in one of the posts above... still not convinced. I'm with the people that are more intrested in the minifigs than the vehicle itself on this. :)
Where is the 'HELL, YEAH' Button?? I suppose the 'add to wish list' will do for now.
It looks great....I just don't see any way I will be able to afford this on top of everything else though :-/
OMG!!!I now know why that Tumbler project on CUUSOO/Ideas wasn't accepted.
Gah, only want the Joker Fig and it'll cost £180 in the UK for 1800+ pieces, mostly black - Can't really get excited for the set, no matter how faithful it is. The fig will go for a lot of money on cracklink too.....
Hm. Well I will not be getting the Mini Cooper or Santa's workshop, or anything else this year, and will instead save up for this thing. It'll look really nice next to 7784 on the dresser.
This looks superb! Definitely must buy.
I wonder how good this will look next to the UCS Batmobile from '06.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! iv always wanted this
ill be using that joker for stop motions/mocs
ill be using that joker for stop motions/mocs
Movie accurate tires on the front (New)
But not on the back...
Why Lego? Why?
Yeah, looks great. Def. a buy
Now bring on the UCS Slave 1 :-)
j.
As much cool and glorious this is, I have to save my cash for colleage and other misc (Videogames, Legos, etc.), maybe next year if Lego does not introduces that giant building under construction.
OK, that's rather impressive. The whole angular look is really cool, even if it is rather studded, and those control panels are BOSS. I'm loving the custom display stand. I'm not sure on Joker, but that all-black Batman is too cool. It's just too big, though! And I'm disappointed that we won't actually see anything for next year's SH sets at SDCC.
If I had $200 to spend on LEGO, I'd get Benny's Spaceship and the Mini Cooper. This design is just...
OMG! Heath Ledger as The Joker has been my dream minifigs! I love the 'Intimidate' screen, but unfortunately it will probably be a sticker. Regardless it is a definite buy.
Official LEGO Video just was released.

I just hope they make enough of them.
