SDCC: New set announced

If, like me, you've spent the past 45 minutes constantly refreshing the raffle drawing thread in the forum (and if you haven't then get over there now!) you might have noticed CCC posting that a new Super Heroes set featuring Green Lantern has been unveiled at SDCC. I have to confess I initially thought it was a wind up, but it's true enough!

76025 Green Lantern vs. Sinestro will be available to purchase from January 2015 for $19.95 USD. It includes three minifigures, Green Lantern, Sinestro and Space Batman.

This is a nice set. Batman feels almost tagged on. All that trans green. If only the Aquaman and Flash Minifigs came in sets that were as good as this.

I have to confess that I paid the going rate at the time for the comic con one but this is great news for everyone else. It looks like there are a few differences but still it's Green Lantern!!!

I am ecstatic with this news! I own the SDCC exclusive Green Lantern, but this comic version is far better, and Sinestro is everything I had hoped for. The Space Batman is just the icing on the cake.

It would not be a comment from me though on the subject of Super Heroes without mentioning that we are still in desperate need of more Batman villains!

Finally a green lantern set! It looks really cool and I am definitely getting it. I actually made most of the figure for this set custom and they are almost identical!

I really want this set... but I have no desire for anything other than the mini-figure Green Lantern and Sinestro. Have no desire for anymore Batman figures, like the Spider-man figures I have way too many of them at this stage.

I shall buy two sets - so I can have Hal and Sinestro as Green Lanterns vs two Yellow Lanterns with other heads :)

This set is very welcome news. Seems like the set should come with a lot of trans-green pieces for building constructs from his ring. Oh well, I think we'll see bricklink prices of trans-green and trans-yellow go up soon.

Ok, ok, yes there are a lot of Batmans [Batmen?] already; but if they're going to do another variation, ya gotta admit that one is pretty freak'n cool! At that price point, it's kind of a bonus anyway. Not even worth complaining.

Don't we all know that the set was just Green Lantern and Sinistro when it was designed, Batman put HIMSELF in the set! Sneaky fellow, he got himself a starring role in the film and now he's appearing in other people's sets. That bat is unbearable! :P

Somehow the level of excitement over the minifigures just seems a little frustrating to me. Perhaps I'm a little 'old school', but I always viewed minifigs as accompanying the build, not the other way around. I understand that this is going to happen with any licensed theme and especially Super Heroes, but it seems like in some ways people (and TLG) are making LEGO into elaborate action figure toys with accessories. The builds we've seen in the Super Hero sets are generally quite pathetic. It's just like LEGO is going through the rounds of picking new minifigs and throwing in some dumbed down building or vehicle. At least with some of the Batman sets (and somewhat this as well) we get new vehicles. Anyway, that's enough of my ranting. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Odd... In the first pic at the top of the article the ship canopy and the round 1x1s on the wing look trans yellow. The last pic at the end of the article makes them look trans bright green. I'm hoping its trans yellow.

This is a much needed set for Super Heroes fans. All three figures look great. I even like the build for once.

I'm surprised at how many people are mad that LEGO is all about the figures. I thought LEGO was a minifigure company and the bricks were a bonus? I only buy these for the figures. But I like it when the set actually is neat too.

I really only care about Batman, so I'd love more Batman villains personally. But this is nice too. I could use more heroes/villians from other areas of DC.

I'm surprised at how many people are mad at Batman being in this set considering it is linked to a LEGO Batman video game. Of course he is going to be in this set. That is his space suit. How else will he be able to solve crimes in space.

@T-Lars @Legozebra This wouldn't actually be "more Trans-yellow" though. Every single one of those yellowish-looking parts already exists in Tr. Yellow, thanks to Atlantis and LEGO City. Personally, I expect them to be Tr. Fluore Green. It often looks almost identical to Tr. Yellow in certain CGI depictions (For instance, on LEGO Digital Designer). But it makes a lot more sense for GREEN Lantern than a yellow canopy would.
