Posted by Huw,
FAN EXPO Canada is being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, August 28 - 31st. LEGO will have a stand there and will be offering an exclusive set for sale:

Good news for attendees, bad news for Star Wars completests...

The set is described as exclusive but the minifigure is not. It could be worse. I wonder though if this exclusive set for an event will continue to spread to a lot of other events around the world.
The vehicle itself is not exclusive as well - the combination is :D The Chibi-style Ghost was also sold at the SDCC, but with Chopper instead of Kanan Jarrus ;)
Neither element of the set is truly exclusive as the Ghost looks to be the same as that released at SDCC, although that set came with Chopper rather than Kanan.
^ Looks like I was beaten to it :o)
This is pretty much a Microfighter of The Ghost.
Meh
:( this news makes my wallet sad
Hope this means there's a British expo exclusive some day...
I have a feeling we might've had it with the team GB minifigs though.
Interesting. So LEGO did release two separate packaging for basically the same set.
I think it might be bad for SW completionists, although this is the new Rebels show so most probably aren't going to be into that.
I wouldn't be surprised if they started doing more convention exclusives everywhere to help drive in more people...
Looks like that competition to win one is only for Canadian residents :( my wallet will have to suffer
...and I was going to comment that it's nice to see SDCC having to share the exclusive sets... I didn't realise it was quite literally sharing an exclusive set!!
Still, at least it dilutes the SDCC exclusivity, that's something, right?
So we have one with Chopper, another with Kanan. So I wonder where third one leak with Hera Syndulla :-) ;-) She is the third protagonist from regular set The Ghost and we now already have two set with two minifigs from it. That would be logical ;-)
That is hideous.
@Hygrotus - Or they could really stoke everybody's anger by releasing one containing Sabine, the one member of the crew yet to be released at all!
@Huw, it might be worth putting in the article that the terms say only open to Canada...
"Eligibility: Contests are open to all Canadian residents excluding Quebec, who are of the age of majority."
OK -- I wonder why Quebec is excluded?
Has Quebec wanted to be excluded for some time?? :)
Huw,
I'm a Quebec resident and I am used to that rule. It seems it's our provincial government's "fault". Some info here: http://business.financialpost.com/2011/09/08/why-many-contests-exclude-quebec-residents/?__federated=1
Fortunately, I live a few hundred meters from the Quebec/Ontario border and have good friends living in the other province ;)
Seems a bit like when competitions exclude Isle of Man, Channel Islands and NI
wish I had known about this before hand. then I would be able to go and get the set:(
Is this a different set in TLG's internal database? It's just the SDCC one with a different minifig- speaking of which, why didn't they include dark brown hair for Kanan? That way he could be a preview fig for 2015.
And I find it ridiculous that you have to buy tickets to buy an overpriced set in the first place. It's probably $50 CAD up there.
I don't think you actually need to BUY the ticket. You just need a ticket to buy. If it's like SDCC, the Lego booth will get mobbed and they will distribute x of tickets per day. Come back later in the day to buy the set if you were lucky enough to get a ticket.
@PicnicBasketSam - Kanan with dark brown hair started to show in regular 75053 - the ghost set. See message on bricklink forum (Catalog request subforum). Lego probably corrected hair color during production of set.
@CapnRex101 - yeah that wolud be very naughty ;)
I gave up being a Star Wars completionist about 2 years ago, was almost keeping up until that point.
^^Oh! OK! But why not here?
^^^No, I meant tickets to the expo itself.
Might have to see if I can get one of these.
I'm in the right country, but at over 1200km away from me as the crow flies (a lot further if the crow is driving), I won't be able to make it. Exclusives are kind of cool for those who can get them, but sucks for those who can't.
@MrVx, thanks for the link, very interesting. It's odd how Canada works, isn't it :)
I will be at the Fan Expo, I will attempt to get one of these, but I don't know if owning it is worth it... I always get so conflicted with theoretically very valuable items like this. That's why exclusives are awful, their value to resell is worth more than their value to keep, but by succumbing to this, I become part of the problem!
@CapnRex101 Sabine will no doubt be in a polybag in the autumn or May 4th next year!
Well, LEGO obvious wont produce a ghost microfighter...
