LEGO Star Trek confirmed!
Posted by Huw,
Rumours suggesting that LEGO is to produce Star Trek sets have been swirling for months, and today, finally, the company has revealed that it will make it so!
A post on Instagram reveals a Captain Picard minifigure and this image featuring Klingon text, which, as you might expect, translates to 'Coming Soon'.
View the minifigure after the break and let us know how excited you are in the comments!

Gonna be interesting to see the quality and cost of Star Trek sets alongside the Star Wars ones...
Cannot wait!
At the LEGO store the first day, when the doors open.

Can’t wait!! ??
I'm a very big Star Trek fan, at least of what us old geezers call proper Star Trek. That is TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY and if we are in a good mood, ENT.
Joking aside, I am looking forward to the minifigs (best idea for me would be several series of Star Trek CMFs). And sets of "sets" like the various bridges (especially of the Enterprise D), sickbay, transporter room, main engineering etc.
Although I am not sure whether we will actually get any of that, or if they will only use the license for the UCS Enterprise D that will probably drop around Black Friday.
Thing is, thanks to the many awesome Star Trek sets we got from BlueBrixx over the years, my collection is already quite substantial. And I have my doubts that LEGO will be able to match that level of quality, let alone beat the vast amount of ships and props in various sizes we got until LEGO napped the license.
No interest whatsoever in The Next Generation. It's James T. Kirk or nobody!

Good one :-)
Picard is rarely seen smiling like that, isn't he? And why doesn't he use hair piece 12893pb02?
Get a bunch of Red shirts

Price: 750€ for 2500 pieces, figs without dual moulded legs and 225 stickers? Just a wilde guess

Rumor on the street is a Black Friday release, so you might want to rethink that!

Temba. His wallet wide.
Anyone planning to use the Death Star slice as Enterprise saucer section? :D
Glad to see it's not just going to be original series stuff
I've been a big Star Trek fan for decades, but it's hard to get too excited about the inevitable $500 Enterprise set that I can't afford. I'd love to see smaller scale ships and locations, but I suspect Lego is going to go big with this one.
I expect nothing from these sets as they are probably just another sticker galore. BB did a great job with the printing which has set the bar which Lego will probably fail to reach by a wide margin.
And I am really sorry for this next soulless license of TLG because I am a big fan and could immediately get the technical drawings of the NCC-1701D from the bookshelf next to me.

He's got that kind of look a number of times (the 'ship in a bottle' bit at the opening of Booby Trap comes to mind). It just looks unusual on the minifig because the eye proportions are so much larger at that scale.
@Graupensuppe said:

Does Picard ever have hair on the sides like that piece does? (I know very little about Star Trek, so please be patient.)
I've always felts weird about LEGO "bald" pieces like that, because it's inconsistent. For example, why does Alfred (from The LEGO Batman Movie) have a smooth cranium, while famously bald characters like Mace Windu have a stud on top?
I was a Star Wars kid, but really a "space" kid in general. I never saw Star Wars and Star Trek as mutually exclusive. Distinct, yes, but I had room for both in my heart. TOS was in syndication when I was tiny and TNG was regularly consumed and enjoyed in its prime. All that to say, when this was first leaked, I was surprised. But now I'm excited. It's been a long time coming.
Hoping that the rest of the crew are late-series uniforms. Ie, Geordi and Worf both changed uniform colours from red to gold. If Wesley is included, I hope he's in his early outfit and not Starfleet uniform. Troi in her unitard and not Starfleet uniform.
Kind of wild that it's taken this long. It's not a property I have any attachment to, but I've always loved the general design of the Enterprise so I'll be excited to see what they do with it.

You might say...
It's been a long road
Gettin' from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near!
A well made, well priced Galileo shuttle craft from TOS would be a day one purchase for me.
I heard Rumours of this month's ago on Instagram we are supposedly getting the Star ship Enterprise but the minifigures were meant to be original Series based I,e Spock, Kirk Auhora and so on!
But either way this is exciting news

Nononoooo!!! Give me KIRK, for Heaven's sake!! And SPOCK, darn it!
"This is a good day to announce that!"
Frankly, scary - as my wife and I were only wondering why there’d never been any Trek LEGO the other day!
If it’s a TNG Enterprise, I’d be very tempted.
For me, the proper Enterprise and the proper crew - Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scott, Uhura, Checkov and Sulu - or nothing.
Otherwise...
Maybe not today or even next year
But before you know it you'll be saying
"Is this all there was?
What was all the fuss? Why did I bother?"

Will be the first day one LEGO purchase from me in a long time.

Then prepare to be very tempted if all the leaks and rumors are true.
This is excellent news!
I neither know a thing about Star Trek, no care. I’m a Star Wars person. But, I am a bit curious to see what this will look like.
@AustinPowers
Even if I know nothing about something, that can still make for a killer CMF! It happened this time last year, so I’d second the idea of one. Better than Racers reborn (couldn’t even get Xalex) or some dinky Spider-Verse.

Hopefully the final product has rank pips for the minifigs in uniform. The render for the teaser doesn't have them. Attention to detail has been lacking in some Lego IPs lately, like Star Wars, but hopefully Lego corrects this mistake.
Boldly go to a galaxy far far away...
Usually on a first crack at a new IP, Lego does a really good job with quality. It's usually with subsequent releases, once they have you hooked, when the quality dips.

Well, there used to be this one:
https://www.merlinssteine.de/sets/bb-107070/
Which is actually the second generation. The first had more fiddly engines, and a couple less prints. Needless to say, I have both versions. :-)
I likely can’t afford it, but resistance is futile. I may be the first in the Q to get it.
As a big Trek fan, a couple of years ago I'd have been all over this, but I have recently become exhausted by the 'LEGO version of a thing I liked when I was a child' vibe. So many models are based on things from 40 years ago. I'd rather spend my money on more innovative and contemporary themes.
Minifigs are great and all, but I'm hoping for that first Enterprise in something along the size of the Executor from a few years ago. Nothing huge or outrageous. I would even take the refit from the beginning of the first movie.
Oh, and definitely a diorama of the battle between Kirk and Khan. How could you not want that? It's not just awesome in Trek lore, but one of the great battles of cinema!
Huh, I saw the leaked photos so long ago that I didn't even know this was not announced yet.
I'm a fan, and may get it, but what I'm truly hoping for is a decently sized Terrak Nor with a Defiant about to go through the wormhole.
No interest in Star Trek, but hope they get treated better than Star Wars fans :)

It is. A big 'un.
If Lego needs my services: I could design a pretty good Borg ship for them!
As a massive Trek fan, I have been awaiting this moment for literally decades. I passed on the bluebrixx sets, but managed to get the 'UCS' Megabloks Enterprise when it was on sale.
Can't wait to add the Big D to my shelves.
Nice... I can't wait to get my hands on some Klingons. I hope they are not Blingons....
It is only logical that this would be the eventual outcome.
Brace yourself for (cost) impact.

Yep, to infinity and beyond.
Images for the Enterprise leaked several weeks ago. This article seems to suggest an entire theme, not just a single set. Will there be multiple sets?
Betazoid wedding set anyone?
I'll be interested to see how they compare vs the BlueBrixx sets. I expect limited interiors if they do anything at all with a bridge on a starship.

That's going to be troublesome, as the rank pips go up on a part of the collar that doesn't exist on the minifig.
Let's hope it's better than the Death Star

I saw leaks for the Enterprise D ages ago, it is nice to see the teaser at last. Based on what I've seen, it shouldn't be astronomically expensive, not compared to star wars at least. It's not even the interiors, only a ship and mini figures.

Usually when Lego picks up the license to an existing franchise it's because there's a new entry in the franchise. They make sets for the new material, and maybe they make sets for the old material, but not always.
For example:
Star Wars sets, 1999, Episode 1
Indiana Jones sets, 2008, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (revived 2023 for Dial of Destiny)
Pirates of the Caribbean sets, 2011, On Stranger Tides
Avatar sets, 2022, The Way of Water
Star Trek sets, 2025, The Next Generation :D

Actually, if you ask Google you will find pictures of the final set. You will also find the number of pieces and the RRP. Images of the minifigs are also available.
Now you might choose to turn a blind eye on the info and pretend it doesn't exist, but that doesn't make it disappear. Who wants to know can know.
I for one know that I prefer the BlueBrixx UCS version of the D to the LEGO version that's due, but the minifigs are of course a major draw to some.

It’s the 60th anniversary of The Original Series next year, so maybe an Original Series Enterprise with Kirk, Spock etc might follow in 2026?
If they start doing original series sets then I'd be up for that.

Interestingly, I wouldn't mind either way. This may insult hard core fans (which I'm evidently not) but I would be just as happy with the 1965-1969 original series as with the reboot (Kelvin timeline) of 2009-2016. Basically, the captain (eventually) of the Enterprise is James T. Kirk. Once that's done, I suppose we can talk about other series. (IMO)
Edit: from the leaked pictures I just saw (if legit), that does not bode well...

Rule of Acquisition No. 95: Expand or Die.
last comment Black Friday
I've crunched the numbers and figured some things out.
My microscopy education is dated, but LEGO's recent (and heralded) decision to go with a longitudinal section of the iconic Death Star would, contrary to perceived rumors/leaks, lead me to believe they will next want to do a transverse section of this bifurcated Starfleet flagship.
Additionally, if my math holds firm, this set will initially include 16.4 minifigs (16 + 1 Ferengi) but then 1.25 minifigs (1 minifig + 1 tribble) will be removed to produce a GWP. To encourage Day 1 purchases, the GWP will need to be integral to the set so I suspect it will be the starboard nacelle. Luckily for those that cannot buy Day 1, the nacelle will only include basic plates and bricks with no printing and the tribble will simply be a 1x1 round plate (Sand Yellow).
The ship will include a standard plaque and, as expected, will erroneously denote the ship having been built at the Kuat Drive Yards instead of the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards.
Lastly, the ship will include an easter egg hidden room behind the turbolift shaft which will be a bathroom with a stickered 1x2 tile that says Captain's Log.
Okay, now all that’s left is the original Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and Babylon 5. Oh, and a gajillion bucks to afford it all.

We have a prospective member who would hate you for saying that. Personally, I couldn't get into Firefly. Not in original broadcast, and not when I actually made a point of watching the entire run in the correct order. Frankly, Adam Baldwin was the only member of the cast who could deliver the lines and sound like it wasn't a cold reading. Plus now there's the whole issue of Joss Whedon. But I've got no right to get on people's cases for going off on other IP creators if I get into that can of worms, so all I'm going to say on that matter is that I don't have a problem with the fact that people still enjoy the show.

These are things I've heard thrown around over the years.
I could be interested in a ST set. I have never watched the series. I know of Jean Luc from my youth. I saw the not great movie with Chris Pine. I don't think it is for me. BUT I do love new ideas and prints and such, so I might still buy it depending on how it looks and price.

This will be very interesting to see how they'll implement the licence, because we have direct comparisons with the previous licence-holder, which was well-liked. So if LEGO decide to do simple models of the ships, we know what to compare them with and judge them accordingly.
In theory, if LEGO did their job well, we wouldn't be missing whoever had the licence beforehand.
Pumped. Love trek.
We need Babylon 5 next

We've got another direct comparison coming up next year, Pokemon. I predict lots of fireworks and lots of popcorn with that one.

I hope (crosses his fingers) that this will help drive LEGO to product a high quality set.
In light of a certain recent release: Do we get now a slice of the Enterprise-D for 1000 USD? ^^
I wish i was excited. I love TNG, but I don't trust Lego to do this without massively overcharging again...

"Why base it on the inferior version of Star Trek though? Should have been Kirk and Spock. It’s like when Lego releases Star Wars prequel and sequel sets….Doesn’t make sense."
"
But in 1999, Original Trilogy sets came out before the Episode 1 sets.
I’m one of those oddballs that thinks Star Trek peaked with Voyager. I know I’m wrong, but I’m happy being wrong.
I'm starting to like 75419 purely out of spite for those of you who can't shut the hell up about it in the comments about unrelated news.

Honestly, on some level I appreciate that we have someone here who's apparently so old that they were part of the *first* wave of "new thing bad" for Star Trek. These days that's even rarer than encountering someone who still feels "there were only 2 good Star Wars movies" in the wilds of the internet.
Finally, this was long due.
Could be Lego's biggest 3-in-1, if they include parts and instructions for a Nebula class and the All Good Things dreadnought Enterprise.
...I really hope they don't do that. I've got like a hundred of those models Eaglemoss did a few years back, I don't need more than one Lego starship.
Just gotta keep telling myself that.

And helmet holes. Helmet holes and stickers are all you need to cause some LEGO fans to go into a catatonic fuge state

Hopefully if this does well, we'll get smaller sets and some of the other hero vessels. Defiant, Voyager, and the classic 1701 (no bloody A, B, C, or D)

Fugue state.
Also, Catatonia is almost the polar opposite of a fugue state.
Also, Star Trek is not normally known for helmets, with or without holes. Unless you’re a nomadic species of hunters roaming the Delta quadrant, I guess.
Otherwise, spot on.

I second the recommendation of Lower Decks, and also I'd vouch for Strange New Worlds as well, it's genuinely fun; a shock that it took this long in the new era for an actual normal episodic-rather-than-serialized live-action Trek.

The only persistent wearers of helmets I recall were the Breen. So in other words, no helmets in Star Trek. Unless Starfleet wore EVA suits. Like Spock did. In that one movie. For ten hours of screen time. With no music.

Pretty impressive from Mega. Packaging too was incredible. Got lucky, found at a Best Buy when they had a small toy section for only $80usd. Box was beat up, with mailing stickers on it, price stickers. But all new and sealed inside.

Look, kids, that's papa running from Borg drones. That's papa blasting the nearest drone to pieces. That's shooting the next one to no effect.
Yes, I see quite a potential here :-)
We have Borg-cubes at home.
70817-1
I really hope we get a series of mini scale ships like the recent SW ones, that way we get not just ships from different species, but we can have every version of Enterprise. Though I guess thae Borg would just be a large block of 2x4's lol.
I never thought it would happen - that Star Wars / Disney would accept it.
I don't know much about Star Trek, do they have alien races like Star Wars? Or else it could become kind of boring really quick.
But I am sure there are many fans who loves this. Congrats to them :-)
