LEGO Dimensions Expansion Packs Revealed for November 2016 Release
Holiday Assortment Includes Fantastic Beasts, Sonic The Hedgehog,
Gremlins, E.T. and Adventure Time.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today at San Diego Comic-Con revealed details around six highly collectable expansion packs for LEGO Dimensions, the LEGO toy and videogame hybrid, that will be available in the Wave 7 product release on November 18, 2016. Led by the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack and the Sonic The Hedgehog Level Pack, the new packs broaden the selection of the world’s most popular entertainment brands allowing players to customize their experience by mixing and matching favorite characters and universes with full compatibility. LEGO minifigures included in all of the wave 6-9 expansion packs will come with special, golden Toy Tags which unlock a Battle Arena within the Adventure World of the corresponding entertainment brand. All-new Battle Arenas will offer first-to-LEGO videogames competitive split-screen local gameplay for up to four players. Each Battle Arena has four gameplay modes and comes with its own traps, special powers and interactive environments that make every battle arena unique.
The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack will provide a complete movie-based gameplay experience with six action-packed levels and new LEGO Gateway bricks to build the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) atop the LEGO Toy Pad. Players can build the Newt Scamander LEGO minifigure and help him find his escaped magical creatures in New York City and use a variety of spells, including Diffindo, Reparo and Lumos. The pack will also come with a 3-in-1 Niffler which can be rebuilt into the Sinister Scorpion and Vicious Vulture. The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack will be the exclusive construction toy offering this holiday for the exciting expansion of J.K Rowling’s Wizarding World.
Fans can also add the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Fun Pack with a Tina Goldstein LEGO minifigure. She can cast Aguamenti to help solve puzzles and Protego to keep her safe from enemies. Players in need of rescue can build the 3-in-1 Swooping Evil which can be rebuilt into the Brutal Bloom and Crawling Creeper.
The Sonic The Hedgehog Level Pack includes a complete level of Sonic The Hedgehog gameplay where players can race as the Blue Blur at lightning speeds through some of his most iconic locations including Green Hill, Emerald Coast, Labyrinth and many more. Players can build the Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO minifigure and use his Acrobat ability to swing off poles and avoid the Badniks, then use his famous grind rails move to make a quick escape. The pack also includes a 3-in-1 Sonic Speedster which can be rebuilt into Blue Typhoon and Motobug, and a 3-in-1 The Tornado which can be rebuilt into Crabmeat and Eggcatcher.
Players wanting to bring Gremlins to life in LEGO Dimensions can add the Gremlins Team Pack which includes popular rivals Gizmo and Stripe LEGO minifigures. Gizmo’s Combat Roll and Dash Attack abilities can be used to get him out of sticky situations and Stripe uses his claws with his Vine Cut ability. Players can rebuild the 3-in-1 R.C. Racer vehicle into the Gadget-o-matic and Scarlet Scorpion and the 3-in-1 Flash ‘n’ Finish into a Rampage Record Player and Stripe’s Throne
The E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Fun Pack includes an E.T. LEGO minifigure with Illumination and Fix-It abilities, as well as special Stealth and Telekinesis skills to make his way around the LEGO multiverse. Players can build E.T.’s iconic Phone Home device, then rebuild it into the Mobile Uplink and Super-Charged Satellite for additional in-game abilities.
Fans of “Land of Ooo” can add a Fun Pack based on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time with a Marceline the Vampire Queen LEGO minifigure. Players can activate her Sonar Smash and Bolt Deflector abilities using the Marceline Axe Guitar to solve puzzles and battle enemies. They can also build and use Marceline’s Lunatic Amp to make some noise, and then rebuild it into the Shadow Scorpion and Heavy Metal Monster for extra in-game powers. The pack will release in North America first at Toys “R” Us.

The Gremlins look amazing!
FANTASTIC BEASTS AHHH
I don't think that any of them actually 'excite' me Cap'n. Create some mild interest is more like it.
I'm liking the look of the doorway in the Fantastic Beasts set
The Gremlins set might be the best one yet!
The Fantastic Beasts sets are my favorite. Haven't seen Gremlins (the movie), although the set looks great as well.
^ Haven't seen Gremlins?! For shame!
I really hope they give us more pics before year's end for the stuff coming in the next few waves, we don't even know what the PPG will look like yet and those Connectable items are still a huge mystery. I also can't wait to see just how they pull off a Beetlejuice figure. I hope they made a new hair sculpt for him because nothing in the existing LEGO pantheon seems to come close to that messy head of hair he's famous for.
I am hugely disappointed in LEGO Dimensions for giving Sonic such a stupid accessory though, if it's supposed to be one of his famous gold rings why use that piece instead of the already much more (and in-game already established) appropriate One Ring piece first introduced with The Lord of the Rings? A life preserver/toilet seat piece just does not look proper for Sonic's Gold Rings. Oh well, we've gotten enough spares in most LotR sets I'm sure the piece can be swapped out with something more appropriate and visually more appealing.
I wonder what the Phone Home does in-game and what it's second and third iterations will be, and seriously is that one Fantastic Beast Fun Pack toy really called the Swooping Evil? Talk about odd names. Love the new head piece on her though, I hope we'll see that reappear in another Detective's Office period style Modular at some point.
They look great, but I'll give it a pass.
Like the polaroid camera, lol. I don't own any of these from any series and really don't want to put any money into them, but the sonic and et could be tempting just on their own as mf if they where ever discounted.....then again, what would I ever do with 'em?
Looking real good. As somebody who doesn't play the game, though, these are annoyingly expensive.
Also does Sonic's car look weirdly juniorized to anybody else?
Hmm so tempting. I have not bought any Dimensions as I have no desire to play the game. I may just cave yet and just buy some for the figures.
That's the problem with this series... They all look great! And I only buy them for the figures, since I have no interest in the game. It can be hard to justify the cost for just a figure. Although sometimes they have fun builds too. But $50 for Newt and $30 for Sonic..that will be hard for me. I guess I'll see if someone parts them out cheap enough, or wait for a sale. Speaking of Sonic, I hope they do Knuckles in the future.
Sonic is awful. Even the ring is awful. Why do they used a lifebuoy? Why not the One Ring from LOTR?
Can you play Fantastic Beasts (or new Ghostbusters) without the main portal?
No. If you could play the games without a portal than what would the purpose of LEGO Dimensions be?
Has a time frame been announced for each of these yet?
What you didn't give e.t a bike?
They should have done a team pack with the kid
Gremlins are great, but I don't care about the game. Wondering about prices in the aftermarket.
given the rings in sonic games to be about as big as his head is, I kind of think the life-ring piece is better than the one ring piece, personally.
though I do wonder if his level pack is going to be lego-ised versions of actual sonic game levels or if they've fused them together a bit
Sonic? No thanks......
@Odeinoichus - PPG?
That only brings to mind Babylon 5 hand weapons. Although I'd love some B5, I can't see that happening
Gizmo and Stripe might be two of the best Minifigs I've ever seen. Can't wait to get those.
I quite like the Sonic one, will invest in him too.
Love it all!
I love Gizmo and Stripe. And E.T.
And I hate what Lego is doing here - hey, we give you some nice but very expensive figs. Why so expensive? Because these are not simply figs. You can put them in the game.
I'm in for Sonic for sure. Given how well the developers treated the other video game franchises in Dimensions, I'm sure this will be a hoot.
I will be ABSOLUTELY buying Sonic and Gremlins! This is awesome. Wish they would have used the LOT ring instead though for Sonic.
Btw, when is this wave going to be released?
Hmm... GLaDOS vs. Sonic... that sounds very funny. Who knew they'd be in a LEGO game together?!
Gremlins looks amazing! I'm waiting for the Knight Rider set to be released.
@Toc13 PPG = Powerpuff Girls, which were announced as part of the next series alongside the rest, however we have yet to see any physical items from same, which leads me to believe they are probably going to be Wave 9.
I would buy every one of these if only they would bring the game out on the PC.
I love them all. They should have colored Sonic's life preserver warm gold. That would have been great and more people would want the set.
I'm quite surprised that no one seems excited about E.T. I'm absolutely pumped! I've loved that movie since I was 3 and have always wanted him as a mini-figure, but I never thought it would actually happen. I don't play Dimmensions but I will absolutely be buying that figure either through the pack or off Bricklink. Sonic is also an interesting one, however.
ET and the Gremlins are the stand outs for me, although I do not play the game, so they are a maybe purchase :)
So we finally have the Sonic minifig that we all heard we'd be getting months ago? :) He looks awesome. I can't wait for an epic team-up. Quicksilver, Flash and Sonic the hedgehog. Awesome.
E.T. and the Gremlins are great! I don't play the game but the minifigs are een must have!
Counting down the days till we get a Link minifigure.
I'm not really a Sonic fan, but at least Sonic is looking like his classic Genesis/Mega Drive era self... sorta.
Still voting for Picard and the others from Star Trek Next Gen.
E.T. looks splendid. 71258 might become my first Dimensions set.
^^^ Not if you count Minecraft and Portal.
...Am I forgetting anything else there?
Wait...
Although I'm not 100% correct on how copyright and licensing works, does the appearance of Sonic mean that now LEGO has licensing for Mario?
