LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Batman Movie Series announced

Posted by ,

You have been waiting and here they are! Twenty Collectable Minifigures based on The LEGO Batman Movie will be available starting on January 1st, reports LEGO on Facebook.

Let us know what you think of them in the comments below! Continue reading as I go more in-depth with each individual minifigure.

Batsuits

Clan of the Cave Batman

Not much to say or analyze about this minifigure. It is pretty nice, but there are better batsuits in this series. I do not think it is based on anything specific from Batman lore, but it is of course based on a prehistoric aesthetic. The name is certainly an allusion to the film title The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986).

Fairy Batman

Glam Metal Batman

The Glam Metal suit Batman is wearing here appears in the San Diego Comic-Con trailer, where it is worn by Robin instead and shortened in name to simply 'Glam Bat'. The minifigure looks particularly nice on the whole, with a black electric guitar and recolored shoulders-pads previously seen with lava monster Moltor in Nexo Knights this year. Not to mention, the shiny silver bat symbol around the eyes of the cowl is rather striking!

Lobster-Lovin' Batman

Ever since the first teaser trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie back in March, many have been wanting the chance to own Batman in his luxury bathrobe. Now that chance is here! This minifigure is definitely worth the wait although I am slightly disappointed that the robe itself is printed rather than cloth. I am sure that LEGO has a logical explanation for this design choice though.

The lobster mold is equally fantastic and I am shocked that this is its first appearance as a one-piece animal. Crazily enough, lobsters as a species have only appeared a few times in LEGO before, in three very different themes: 7772 Lobster Strike, a Monthly Mini Model Build and 7985 City of Atlantis.

Vacation Batman

Vacation Batman looks to be an absolutely stellar minifigure, with the first ever rubber duck flotation device piece; Nightwing mask printing on it, no less! A unique cowl with molded-on goggles is also present here.

It is unfortunate though that there is no printed bat-speedo on the legs, as shown in the following promotional image from social media. Instead we get a Hawaiian shirt, which also looks superb but still is unexpected.

Batman's allies

Commissioner Gordan

Pink Power Batgirl

Woo hoo, more Batgirl variants! We only have one in DC Comics Super Heroes and another in this series' parent theme, so another is much welcome.

However, and correct me if I am wrong - I do not believe this pink Batgirl look has appeared in canon before now. If anything, it is reminiscent of the common Batgirl Halloween costumes you see little girls wear each year. That fact alone makes me believe that this minifigure could prove popular with the younger, female crowd. But perhaps this is an early, prototype version of the Batgirl suit for Barbara? I assume we'll see when the film releases.

Collectors will want it for the pink batarang, Barbara Gordon hair and skirt pieces too, I am sure!

Barbara Gordon

Dick Grayson

Dick Grayson is Robin's alter-ego in The LEGO Batman Movie and other works, although this Robin's design harkens back more to the Carrie Kelley version. LEGO Batman Movie Robin in his civilian clothing is much more akin to traditional Grayson (see actor Burt Ward's portrayal in 76052 Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave) and has made a few appearances in trailers for the film.

It is highly likely that we only see this variant in Batcave/Wayne Manor scenes (which seem to serve minor roles as a whole), if its inclusion solely in the CMF series is any indication - who knows, though! It should also be noted that Dick Grayson will be included in formal attire with 70908 The Scuttler.

Dick is equipped with shark repellent which is a direct reference to the 1966 Batman film. Will we see this bat-gadget make an appearance in the film, or is it just a fun Easter egg accessory to complement the minifigure? We shall see...

Yeah, what they said ^.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool, it's actually the DC character Catman, not some new movie invention.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fan freaking tastic! Love this series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome figs! I can't wait for Eraser and the white Galaxy Patrol armor!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fairy Batman and the duck are amazing! Can't wait.

Only figure that is a complete disappointment is Joker. That is really boring but good in case you can't afford the $150 set.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Red Hood! <3

Gravatar
By in United States,

An extra Lobster Batman will provide my Parisian Restaurant with a new course for the menu. ;-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the printed minifig head piece on Orca . . . very clever way to do the mouth.
These all look great!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love how it says 07734 on calculators mask. Classic

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Looks like a great series! Except the Arkham Asylum Joker. Don't really know why we get him.. anyway, 19/20 is pretty awesome, and can't wait to own them!

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like they messed up when editing in Red Hood.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need bathrobe batman and a bunch of bunny girls for my Playboy Mansion MOC :)

Gravatar

"Chilly Productions"-I agree.
Who is the bunny person?
I like Cat-man, Orca, and Fairy-Batman

Gravatar

Oh mah gursh. Want.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait wait wait, do I see alternate universe Joker?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Looks lie a lot of fun!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm hoping this means some of the less obscure batsuits will appear in the remaining sets. There are only 3 so far (Scubat, Bat-Pack and Raging bat). 5 in this collection (Fairy, Clan of the Cave, Glam-bat, Vacation & Lobster Loving). Still need:
- El-Murcielago
- The Batriot
- St Batrics
- Night Terror
- Reggae Man
- Prom Suit
- Heat Protection
- GCPD
- Arctic (new, not White)
- Silent and Deadly (Gas)
- Winged Armagedon
- Winged Avenger
- Krampus
- Bat-Hurst 1000
- Disco
- Scottish (Highlander)
- Merbat

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd like to say these look absurd but some of the genuine superhero characters are so bad these days that these look rather good in comparison

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is getting better and better, I'' gonna have to pick these up. Lobster loving batman and vacation batman are just superb.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Oh my god 'eraserhead'...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Fantastic!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not only are these Minifigures cool, they are also wacky and creative. These exactly represent what little kids would dream of in their minds and the fact they are produced in physical form for a global market is such a unique and dynamic concept. Furthermore, it's one that will prove to be a huge success.

The creative team at LEGO have pushed their creative choices and ideas beyond The LEGO Movie (2014), I cannot wait to see what designs and concepts they have in store for the upcoming movies!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Need four Glam Metal Batmen and to Bricklink some other parts and I can have a pretty nice Motley Crue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Inquiry: what is the difference between this joker and the one in the Arkham set

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll admit that I wasn't excited to hear of a Batman CMF line, but these turned out good. The inflatable duck shaped inner tube is full of win!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Super awesome, i want at least 16 of these. So i guess i'll make it 20 then.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are amazing. Definitely grabbing a case. I'm assuming there will be 3x of each minifig in a sealed case since there are 20 unique figs in this set?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

What is the significance of the number 07734 on calculator?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ggfile. It spells out "hello" on a calculator when turned upside down.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was not interested at all in these cmf.
Then I saw the pictures and now I want them all.... I do have a Lego problem. :)

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I don`t care much for Batman/DC/whatever but there`s pretty many cool accessories and body/torsoprints! And the inflatable duck, OMG!! <3 Guess I need this series too ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Price confirmed yet?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know that I'll buy many (or any) of these CMFs, but I am happy just to see them and know that they exist. There is all sorts of crazy going on here and it is perfect.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^ I'm guessing $3.99 as usual.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Chilly productions, I wonder if there Will be more errors, 31054 also has one in it's wheel

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@ vagrant saint
Ty - that makes sense.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These all look splendid.

I really want that Redhood one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These are a delight. :D I'd like some of the whackier batsuits but I think for my wallet's health I'm going to wait and trade for them!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow these look amazing. Need all of them for sure...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@nintynuts you also get the Excalibur suit in the Dimensions pack...

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

It's brilliant, a must have! :D

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I wish Lego would bring back the normal Minifigs, not just sets that are from licenced products.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ They are still doing that. Look at the most recent series!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@RDBLegoMan: What do you mean "bring back"? The current series is "normal minifigs", next we're getting a special licensed series, then it'll be back to "normal minifigs" again, etc. Normal series aren't going away forever.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

What a huge pile of crap. The easiest series ever for me to pass up. Utterly dreadful every one of them. Worst CMF series ever.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Love 'em, they are so bizarre.

The Mime was in a single story in the 80's, she has to be the most obscure Batman villain of them all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want them all! Love everything Batman!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers WOW that's a little harsh... please just keep your opinion to your self about how you HATE these... I want all the batman ones (and the eraser, awesome head piece) i really want to collect all the batman suits (only ones from the lego batman movie though)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, that's $80 down the drain...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Kind of underwhelmed idk why. I wish they switched out the rabbit chick for someone else, like firefly. And Zodiac Man for black mask, or cool villains they've never made before. Red hood is cool though.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

OMG! These are all epic! If the movie is half good and original as these minifigs are, then we are talking about an Oscar winning movie!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

So many obscure Batman characters ... Eraser and Orca and King Tut and Catman ... I'm gonna be so broke next year ...

Gravatar
By in United States,

These Look Awesome Definetly Getting Em

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The best figure here in my opinion has to be Commissioner Gordon. Hands down the best one there, but they are all really good, I especially like glam bat as well.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Jim Gordon is my favorite of the lot. I must have Jim Gordon, Catman, King Tut, Orca, Mime, Calculator, Eraser, March Harriet and Zodiac Master.

I can do without all the alternate Batman costumes.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

How great would it be if Catman shows up in the movie played by Adam West... total double Easter egg!

Anyway, gotta have Catman, King Tut, Red Hood and Eraser. Best series ever!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm pretty sure that this version of Red Hood is from the Joker's days before he fell into the chemical pool. Still a nice minifig, even though I was hoping for the Jason Todd version. As soon as they appear, I'll attempt to buy the whole set. I may even do a review. I'll definitely be putting them in my Lego Justice League series, for which I'll be dropping a teaser on YouTube, soon. Please check me out. Name is LegoFan2623.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@MBJosh04

I also dislike all of these but one which shocked me since I love the sets planned for movie and can't wait to see it. Also I have a second AFOL sitting here next to me and he too thinks these are "awful". There are a lot of wrong things you can say on a forum but voicing your opinion that you simply do not like something is not one of them. AustinPowers was not rude to anyone and made it clear that he does not wish to purchase something. It does not matter that this is LEGO blog these figures are very strange and out of the ordinary. I think its pretty fair to not to want to buy them if that is not your thing. Seems like you are being rude by telling them he keep his opinion to himself. Are you a moderator? Do you control this board? If not I suggest you rethink your comment specifically the part where you tell him to "keep your opinion to your self". If the comments are civil one of the highlights of the article is the diversity in the comments afterward. I enjoy hearing other peoples opinions and I think it makes the world more interesting.

On a positive note I like that LEGO is taking chances and doing wacky things and perhaps I will like the strange and wacky next time if its in a different way.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As a stand alone series they work quite well but I was hoping they'd "fit in" with the regular DC lineup and they don't. They're mostly too comical.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LindsayJoy ok i am sincerely sorry... I was just having a bad day so i felt i needed to express that to others. I have now realized that hearing other peoples opinions DOES make the world better. Thank you for helping my day to go better! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I will be continuing to add analysis to this article into tomorrow! :-)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@BrickPal They released to many figures! You can't keep up! Enjoying the analysis and chatter in comments as I don't know much about any of these characters at least no in depth. Thanks as always for the work thats done here on Brickset!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Am I the only one who saw Catman and thought it was "Batverine"?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

March Harriet, but no White Rabbit...life ain't fair sometimes. Yes, yes, yes, I know; she (WR) is not in the movie (it least via trailers, we still need the footage); but darn that would've been cool. Come to think of it, we also seem to be missing a Mad Hatter...

Seriously (and sorry VF2187), MH is a fave of this set (the whole 'Wonderland Gang' thing), but I'm also liking Orca, Pink Power Batgirl, and Catman. Although the parts in this set...anyone else note the Nightwing mask on Bat's foatie:)
So...how many think 'Mid-December' on these? They (TLG) keep saying January, but come on; the September set (16) rolled out late July...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would've like to have seen a variant Frank Miller Dark Knight figure, even though it's not tied to the movie..

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's great we are getting all of these characters, but 16 was hard enough to get (and expensive), but now I need to get 4 more to complete? Ridiculous. Plus rumors were the price went up...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Tyrell Archer: More like 'Dark Claw'...look it up:)
Seriously though: Catman got reeeally popular in 'Suicide Squad' years ago, rivaling Deadshot (memory serve: both were field leaders after Flag's death...)

@waynlewis: wouldn't TLG have to convert an Axl body for Dark Knight?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Red Hood is inarguably the best

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

This is probably the first set of CMF of which I want a complete set!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@MBJosh04: True, my comment was harsh. But I have as much right to express my dislike of this series as anyone who expresses his utter joy at those figures. And as @LindsayJoy said, I wasn't rude to anyone. I don't mind if many like those figures, why should I, but nevertheless I am very unhappy with this series and would have preferred something very different. But it's not the end of the world, there will surely be another CMF series in future.
On the plus side, it will save me some money. Come to think of it, very little of the recently announced 2017 lineup made me jump with joy. So next year, at least the first half, might be one of the cheaper ones for me Lego-wise in recent years. :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There is so many I want!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Most of these look well done and are kinda funny, but as I'm not a fan of the genre I will not collect them apart from four minifigs of which I could use some of the parts. But that's absolutely no problem, I'm kinda glad that I'm saving some money for once, and there's always another series to look forward to. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Could have been interested in a more regular looking Batman, but these are all just weird looking. Not interested in these at all. Clearly not paid enough attention to the various minor characters in Batman stories, but the only baddie I've heard of before is the Joker, and that figure even looks bad.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

these look awesome i would particularly like rock star, vacation and fairy batman minifigs and i really like the nurse harley quinn, and king tut.
also this version of red hood looks better than the one featured in killer crocs sewer smash,
i just wish nightwing and deathstroke were in the movie too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Spiedog, while I understand the want for a cheap Batman in the traditional suit or even in a not goofy one there are going to be enough of those in the actual sets. I think that the idea behind the CMF was to (with the exception of the joker) to put things that were in the movie that would not fit in any of the sets. TLG did the same with the Lego movie CMFs...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

On the one hand, I do agree that these all seem kind of ridiculous (and 20 of them in a set? Oh my gosh). But on the other, there are some fantastic pieces, and ... outside of the context of the Batman movie ... there are some fantastic additions to the gallery of DC villain minifigs. Catman, Orca, King Tut for cryin' out loud.

I have to admit, I'm also disappointed that the Holiday Batman figure isn't wearing a Bat-speedo. Sad face.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm disappointed by the goofy Batman variants and the number of fairly obscure villains. I don't doubt johnmdudley's explanation, but that doesn't make me feel any less let down.

The only one I intend to display as sold is Orca but not among my DC characters; I'm going to put her among my generic fantasy undersea evil-doers.

Some of them such as Catman, Red Hood and Lobster-Lovin' Batman have some cool parts but I'm not sure those parts are worth the cost (which I assume to be £2.50 RRP per minifig).

@VaderFan2187, I totally agree that having an escort - read 'prostitute' - in a toy aimed at kids is way beyond the pale.

@TheBrickPal, Thanks for including the reference pictures - very cool!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I dunno - I love the obscure villains!

Comics were great in the 1950s-early 80s when they didn't take dudes and dudettes running about in their underwear too seriously. Now it's all about 'adult' drama, storylines and violence; I say if you want adult be an adult and go watch Downton Abbey or Kramer VS. Kramer.

I mean Calendar Man (uses calendar dates to commit crime!), Kite Man (uses a hang glider to commit crime!), and Eraser (erases clues from crime scenes, so makes a helmet that looks like an eraser!)? Too good! Comics are supposed to be fun and silly escapism; I think LEGO so fair is nailing this.

Clearly there is some plot element where the Joker or others amasses all the minor 2 bit hoods to stop Batman, but I doubt many of these will be too effective in foiling the dynamic duo.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

BTW - is March Harriet the first official LEGO female Mini-fig wearing lingerie?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the whole point of this CMF series is to release some wildly absurd and crazy figures that you won't see any other way. I think the CMF series is the best way to get these obscure villians and costumes out there, as they likely won't really fit in with any planned sets. And if they make any sort of cameo in the film (very likely) people will want them. Plus, if you really don't like one of them you can just skip that one and collect the ones you like. People probably wouldn't like buying a set they want only to get some weird character they don't know.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is the BEST CMF Series so far. I can see the same thing being done for Marvel or Star Wars, if LEGO Group would make their own LEGO Movie versions of these properties. You can do it, you can rebuild them all. You have the technology.

Gravatar
By in United States,

AMAZING!!! Makes me wonder what the minifigures for the Ninjago movie are going to look like.
The ones for this series I want are Glam Metal Batman, Vacation Batman, Pink Power Batgirl and Nurse Harley Quinn

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Wow, What a Series... A box I'll get...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love these figures, well done TLG! I am missing Bruce Wayne though. Or will he show up in regular sets?

Bummed that TLG is releasing more and more series with >16 figures. My cabinets are built around 16 figures per series :-(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I never thought I would live to see the day where there was a Catman minifig!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

any ideas on pricing yet? rumours of price increases in various regions now

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

for batman cmf, there is confirmation price from Lego Certified Store at singapore the price will be $7.90 (cmf 16 was $5.50)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I notice that the Gordons seem to have darker skin than usual. Is this something they decided to do for this movie, or did it happen in the comics first? (I haven't read a Batman comic in a while.)
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with it, I just find it interesting, and I still really want the figures. (I can never have too much Barbara Gordon in my life, whatever her skintone, and the Commissioner looks great.)
Regarding March Harriet: I'm not sure which is more surprising: That Lego is doing what is essentially a Playboy Bunny, or that they found a way to reuse Bunny Suit Guy's headgear. (Sort of wish they'd done a new hair with bunny-ears mold, though. Would be more comic-accurate, and could be used to make a custom fig of Velvet from RWBY.)
But as for March Harriet being inappropriate: Well, so are a lot of characters Lego's done, if you go by their comics incarnations. Deadpool, for instance, was foulmouthed and violent long before the movie came out. And the Joker cut his own face off and started wearing it as a mask a few years back.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My personal favorites are the Glam Bat, Commissioner Gordon, and Barbara Gordon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Red Hood doesn't look good at all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another set for the growing collection

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'll definitely be picking up Lobster-Lovin' Batman and Vacation Batman. Maybe some of the others like Orca to terrorise the people at the beach.
