The City Jungle sets looks great, and so do the space shuttle, the bus and the beach line.
The three Creator buildings look good.
i really look forward to "60153-1: People Pack - Fun at the Beach" And those jungle city sets. although there are too many vehicles just like with the volcano theme from last year :-/
So glad the Technic fire engine made the cut finally!
Looks like a new black panther animal in the jungle sets. Finally a new addition to the zoo
The technic fire truck looks cool. I'm waiting to see City pictures for the summer.
The panther in the city jungle set is pretty cool. So is the crashed airplane. Getting some serious Jurassic Park vibes from some of them.
That one-eyed bear on tow truck is too unbearable! SOLD!
We're not going to get to see any Star Wars or Super Hero sets yet, right?
And here I thought I wouldn't be interested in the jungle sets. There's TWO big cats! Definitely need the panther, if not both.
Technic is very disappointing to me. 40th anniversary and the big models seem really lame compared to the last years.
Hmmm - looking for that rumored fun at the beach set... Here's hoping! :)
jritzman - It's on the Promobricks instagram - https://www.instagram.com/p/BP7nM37BnVY/?taken-by=promobricks
Do we know if we are going to see the next Technic Supercar?
The 'jungle' sets are a joke being the display has a ton of trees that won't be included in the sets. Also the crashed plane set is probably $120-150.
I like how Coast Guard uses the same colors so you can match them with the old theme, and there is a building this time!!!
The Friends ski lodge sets are great!
@jedikitty - thank you! Nice to see some more swimsuit prints, although they could have been better. :/
I agree with @dawson78! The Technic range is a total let down so far after last year's great sets. I hope 42070 isn't the flagship set for 2017!
^ I'm afraid it is...
Woah, THREE creator buildings and a creator space shuttle! Now I'm curious about the details and prices for them. And I wonder if they fit a system like the small 'modulars' like corner deli.
Those large brick-built figures of Lloyd and his father might hint at the summer wave being from the movie. After all, Lord Garmadon has long since gone in the show continuity
Not going to buy the winter ski sets, but that lodge looks great!
The Jungle sets are mostly a bunch of boring yellow trucks... bummer :-( I do like the one with the cave and crashed tree though, and the jaguar (cheetah?) and panther are awesome. Also there may be a cool looking venus fly trap? Hard to tell what parts of the foliage (probably none of it :-( ) are included in the actual sets. The Friends Ski theme is actually not as awful as I thought it would be... might even get the Chalet though I'm not generally a fan of this line.
I wonder what the power-functions on 42070 would be. There's no servo-motor nor anything about self-driving on the box. That's a bit of a pity tbh.
Also: the zusammengebaut site claims the next classic collector's series is €3.99 per. That's getting kind of steep, and moving the figures out of pocket-money territory.
^ Welcome to the USA where we have been paying more than anywhere else for CMF for awhile. 4 Euro is only like 25 cents more than in the USA by the time they are released. You are currently getting a discount over the USA. And we have outrageous rent, no pay jobs, and a dictator to worry about. So if you want I'll gladly switch places.
I just noticed some of the sets have a "No Picture graphic". Someone at LEGO isn't very smart. If you line up all the sets next to each other you can't expect people not to take pictures. Either you can take pictures or you can't, both never works.
Snow White, Ursula and Fairy Godmother minidolls!!! :-))
Why aren't there more pics of Friends and any of Elves?? I need to see more details! Especially want to see the Friends hospital.
No new train. :o(
That space shuttle looks like a bad Lego Ideas proposal that would struggle to get 100 votes.
The fire engine reminds me of the airport fire engine from the city great vehicles in 2014. Just saying...
Oh dear there goes my summer spending!!??
Always a fan of new animals so nice to see the new jaguar/panther mould in those Jungle sets. Looks like there's an new machete accessory as well.
The new Architecture Arc De Triomphe set (21036) looks smaller than I had hoped. :o(
The Guggenheim Museum re-release looks fantastic though!
Do I spy a City Helicopter... with a BRICK-BUILT cockpit?! That's unheard of.
Oh look, a coast guard theme. We haven't had one of those in... hours.
Creator houses and a new bus! :D
I just noticed there is also a crocodile in one of the jungle sets, plus something red with black spots that might be a giant lizard (?) ! And the bus stop and Fun at the Beach sets look fantastic. Yippee, something to look forward to this year!
Just read on the Ticker that they weren't allowed to take close ups of sets set I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with distance shots for now...
That teddy bear is the best thing ever.
I love that they are doing more houses. My city is growing quite a bit in 2017!
RIP old spider and canoe molds T-T
Jungle looks good (need to focus in only three sets), the bus is nice (need to consider it), the Fun at the Beach is a must have, I am patiently awaiting official pictures soon from those covered SM sets and the SW line.
@Binnekamp: The old canoe molds aren't going anywhere—in fact, they're in one of this year's Ninjago sets. The new boats are kayaks, an entirely different kind of watercraft.
All those kayaks! We have to be getting a Bat-Kayak!
thats cool
I guess I'm lost on how people are making out these details from the distance shots on that instagram...
I assume the retro 8860 is THE 40th Anniversary model.
And someone at Brickset has already dubbed the 42070 as THE flagship set (as there is only one each year).
That RC 6x6 All Terain Tow Trucks looks great. Having power functions and an XL motor!
The remodelled 8860 Car Chassis is also a nice touch, and it is made from three existing sets
this years my 40th birthday and these lego suck. The Airjet i want, these are NOT inspiring. how sucky
I was just happy to hear about creator's modern house from 2017 but it's disapointing... And 40$ for that, it's robery
I think 2017 looks like the worst offerings for Technic in a good few years... and 2016 was so good. What happened?
@Rob42 Haha :) Seems like I`m getting plenty of time (and money) to catch up on older sets.
Oooooo! Those creator buildings. I want them already :D
Thought this was going to be an expensive year with the City Jungle line coming out. However, after seeing the new sets the only ones worth getting are the ones with the leopard and panther in them. Star Wars also somewhat disappointing. Only getting the two battlepacks, rathtar escape and republic fighter tank.
Is the IR for 42070 for driving the vehicle or just using the tow lift?
Interesting to see the box images for the CMF and to note that the series probably slated for September 1 release has 20 figures in that series - like the current Batman series. I'm guessing this will be a Ninjago Movie series since the Ninjago Movie is slated to come out in September.
@Bycougars: where did you find the Star Wars images?
What kind of vehicle is 42070?
Military meets psychedelic?
^there are prelims on deltacustoms' Instagram page.
I am quite impressed with what I see here!
-Jungle sets look boring except for the excellent plane wreck. Needs more trees.
-LOVE LOVE LOVE the Creator stuff, even though I can't see it very well- giant blue car, space shuttle, three different-sized buildings.
-Architecture Arc de Triomphe looks really boring.
-Not a fan of the two larger Technic sets. Although the Airport Firetruck (which was supposed to be released more than a year ago, prelims surfaced with the other 2016 winter sets) looks interesting.
-City Coast Guard matches the old stuff, but doesn't seem that good aside from the enormous and unique-looking (!!) helicopter
-Surprise! 8 Juniors sets for Cars 3! That might have been a mistake if this movie's as dark as the first trailer makes it look, though...
-Technic combi model remake of the old go-kart. Nice....
Someone commented on how great the new Friends ski sets look, and I'm curious to check out that Chalet. However, I've checked both links several times and have strained my eyes over all of the images, but don't see a darn picture of them (aside from the 1st one on Instagram where I can make out a neat looking catamaran). So where are they!? Anyone? Hello? Is this thing on?
The coast guard sets just look brillant! Here's hoping that blue creator car looks as good as I'm hoping it would be.
^ I'm searching too. But sadly Friends seems to have been overlooked, as it so often is :-(
Very excited to see in more details the new Friends. Elves and Disney sets and especially to see if there are more collectible animals.
Check out Hothbricks. They have a collection of pictures of this Toy Fair. Among the pictures you can find Friends, Disney Pricess sets too. (Ariel & Ursula, Fairy Grandmother and Cindarella, Snow White)
My personal favorites are the Creator stuff. The great blue race car and the space shuttle. The latter uses some unusual pieces for a creator style set. (The roof of the cockpit, the cargo bay panels and the thruster cone pieces).
Jungle sets look cool.
And I thought I was the only one who missed the pictures of the Friends sets! Love the idea of the ski lodge though, and that catamaran does look interesting.
@Anak - thanks! That ski lodge theme looks terrific. I think those will all be must haves for anyone who has collected the Winter series.
I'll be honest in saying I normally don't bat an eye at themes not named "Superheroes", but that Jungle theme is seriously tempting. I get a very strong Adventurers vibe from it, which is amazing, and all the new parts (machete! Fly trap!) are great.
And lets not even get started on those Panthers and Jaguars! Spectacular! I never even knew I needed them until now--but I must have them. Plus it's one step closer to a Lego Lion, which is decades past due.
Thank you Anak! Wow, now that I can see those other sets, I can't help but think that minidoll Ursula might not have been the best idea. She looks more like someone with a black dress that happens to somehow have the same colorscheme. Or that diet really worked or something and doctors really hate her now
I generally spwnd around Star Wars but these offerings, particularly from the City line are great - both the Jungle and Coastguard sub themes. I unfortunately sold some of my classic Egyptian and Jungle Adventurers sets so these sets in the jungle are pushing all the right buttons for me.
Seems like any Ninjago movie merch is being hidden for the moment, in a similar vein to Star Wars and Super Heroes.
That blue creator car…
Cautiously optimistic about the 6x6 tow truck, space shuttle, and blue sports car. The eye-patched bear is pretty sweet and the wheels/tires look massive!
Loving the new Cinderella set, Snow White, and excited for the Cars sets!
These look very nice overall. Having missed several similar themes in the past this will be good to get caught up on those. A new people pack is very welcome and I actually like the jungle theme colors. Totally feeling my wallet groan already.
The bus stop and all the creator sets look great! I'll probably get them!
The 42070 is pretty pants, but it comes with 6 tractor tires! Might get it just for that.
I love that they've combined 3 smaller sets to create a modern version of the legendary 8860 which just happens to be my favourite technic set of all time.
The new bus is awesome! I have been wanting a Lego newstand and I am very happy to finally have a disabled access bus.
Freight terminal is also awesome, I seemed to have guessed right about what it would be. I am very happy to see a new Container Stacker. Its been a very long time.
The coast guard sets are the best yet (of all the coast guard sets they have released so far) in my opinion. I preferred the 2013 helicopter but I have been really wanting a small coast guard boat and truck like the 2008 one. The starter set is great too. I also really like the speedboat and coast guard boat in the main set and I really want that coast guard HQ building. If anyone just wants the other stuff, I'll buy it from you. The large CG ship appears to have a sliding ramp feature to deploy the rubber dinghy, which is realistic and cool.
Fun at the Beach is awesome. The new kayak piece is great. The minifigures are cool, as is the volleyball net and its really nice to get that dolphin piece in a City set. Its great to see a return of the lobster piece!
I do love Fun at the Beach, dont get me wrong, but the fact that it is at the beach rather limits its use for Lego fans who don't have a beach/ocean layout in their city. When I was thinking of ideas for a sequel to Fun at the Park, this came to my head instantly, but I dismissed it, due to the problem stated above. I would like to see a Fun at the Mall or Fun at the market next, with little stalls like in the Winter Village Carousel set, like in France. They could also include lots of food pieces and possibly livestock. This would probably be more useful and related to more by a wider audience. (not everyone country has a coastline, sadly for them).
The Jungle sets are alright. I absolutely love the plane crash and South American ruins set. It looks like the Lego Adventurers Jungle theme and the plane scenes from the Madagascar 2 movie combined. The little helicopter is cool and there appears to be a black panther in one of the sets. If it is a panther, then Lego could reuse it in a Superheros set for Black Panther. The waterfall is cool and I really like the 6 wheel amphibious vehicle in the main set. It is the most realistic vehicle in all the Jungle sets. The yellow color scheme is...ok... I think the volcano and jungle sets should swap colors. I had hoped to get lots of foliage pieces from these sets, seems that is not the case, which is a disgrace for a Jungle theme. I wish they could make the vehicles more to scale with other City vehicles. Yes, they would have bigger tyres but they have pretty much ruined all the would-be-good vehicles. I really wish the half track had had the same wheels/tracks as the one in the Swap Police set (the one with a half track and hovercraft).
The Creator shuttle looks great. I wonder if that is a lab as the 2nd build. Is the 3 houses all one 3 in 1 set with the big red roofed one the main build or are they different sets? They all look good anyway.
I look forward to the Arc de Triumph, finally I can put it next to the Eiffel Tower
I love the new Creator sets (no new train, sad face). Those houses all look gorgeous, and I love them.
While I like all the new animal pieces, thumbs down on the jungle sets. They just look a bit boring, and I'm not really sure what most of them were supposed to be.
42070 has an odd gap between the front grille and the hood. This gap also makes the head lights 'float' in air. Speaking of head lights: they tend to disappear in the background (even in the box image). Some transparent studs (replicating lenses) would've fixed this. There's plenty of room for them...
The bear is a great idea but, IMHO, still feels a bit out of place in a Technic set.
Although I visit Brickset multiple times a day, I rarely actually buy new sets, the only exception being large Creator Cars. That makes the new blue one a candidate.
I think that the modern version of 8860 looks terrible.
@stet, the 8860 is made from 3 sets, so colour availability of certain bricks is limited. You can replace them from your own collection to get the colours more spot on.
I like some basic parts much needed finally return, for example red angle connector 3 in red and blue.
I hope the 6 wheel crawler is in classic blue, not fancy pants blue. Kind of getting tired of weird colours in Technic. It's a bit the dark ages redux now. Weird models not new classics.
I really had my hopes up for the 40th anniversary of Technic, but seeing these three sets makes me rather disappointed... Don't like them at all!
Like my though -> @gjhartog
I'm now a grandpa, and can remember for the 1st set 853. A big release and my eyes was full of stars. After 40 Years, the new 3 set was little boring to me. Ii hope for a surprise "40 Years of Technic" and will wait until 2nd alf year of 2017 ...
Perhaps a licenced Audi R8
All the Technic sets look cool, i just hope 42070 comes with the V2 receiver because its only been in one set!
