To explain from yesterday's RPotD
Compared was the wrong choice of word. I should have said relative.
The piece was released in 2012, the part it replaced was retired in 2010. So in 2012 part 99061 was replacing a 'recently' retired 6046.
Anyway, on to today!
I don't have the nostalgia for this print that others may have. It's ok, and I can see the uses for sloped grill/vent depiction. But not one I am likely to go out of my way to incorporate.
Still, I hope it gets further use.
It should be molded instead of printed!

I saw some molded ones in an off brand set (Original design, not Lego copy) I got given as a secret santa. They were terribly done. I couldn't finish building the set due to poor tolerances that made some parts impossible to put together, and others that would stay together.
This part is already perfect... contrary to what @PurpleDave says!
Do you see 7 black lines or 6 white lines?
I don't know why, but I want it in green.
EDIT: The original version of this part from the 80s/90s also came in Blacktron colors, which was kinda cool. Btw, does anyone know if there's a significant difference in print between the old version and the re-release? (telling both apart should be easy anyways due to subtle mould changes)
Aw yeah, bringing out the Classic Space goodness. Bit surprised to find out it was used in 10283. Not a space set I would have expected to see it in.

There are FOUR lines!
Most recent set I got this piece in: 10497: Galaxy Explorer

You can see it pretty clear in the 6808. JANGBRiCKS on youtube has a video showing it in several angles.
@Lemerbrix06: I'm curious. If you acquired two sets at the same time that had the same piece, and the piece were selected as RPotD before you got any more, how would you comment?

I’ll do you one better, what happens when I get THREE? The only time it’s happened is July 28th’s rpotd

I looked. Lemerbrix06 mentioned all three sets.
Classic Space parts keep right on giving.

It should be a sticker!

It should be a piece of paper, and a roll of cheap giftwrapping tape. Or a permanent marker.

Agree, the stickers they used in the 80’s hold up remarkably well, even if I didn’t do a good job applying them and a portion of a sticker is going beyond the edge of a brick.

It should be hand chiseled and filled in with black grouting. None of this dual molding nonsense.

It belongs in a museum!
…wait…
Did I walk into Ron Popeil-style product commercial...:
-It's a VENT!!!
-It's a SPEAKER!!!
Concerned Consumer: Is it a sticker?
-NO, It's printed!!
C.C. 2: Is it a grate?
-NO...That was yesterday..,
C.C. 3: Is it in a Museum?
-Would someone help that guy outta' here...:D
6809 droid upper torso.
But for me, forever associated with 6631. Don’t think there were any other instances of it in yellow.
This is what happens when the cathode ray tube in your classic space monitor fails after 40 years!
I grew up with this printed piece in the old space sets like Blacktron, so I was thrilled to discover it still existed when I found it in 10273 Haunted House!
Yeah, I have a thing for printed pieces like this. :)
