Modular Apple Store Approaches 10k
Posted by glenbricker,Gotoandbuild's Modular Apple Store is less than 100 support from achieving 10,000 supporters.
An Apple store has reached 10,000 before, see the Mini Store Series, but this is the first one to do so in a project singularly dedicated to the subject. This Apple store is also only the second modular design to have reached 10,000.
Gotoandbuild actually has one of the most creative modulars on Cuusoo, Urban Moto: A Modular Motorcycle Shop, and also has one of the extremely rare Friends projects, Olivia's Mobile Scooter Repair, both of which are favorites of mine.

Didn't they add some rule against commercial-brand-builds?
I wonder if it will smell like feet just like the real Apple stores?! :)
Even if they it did reach 10,000 supporters I don't think they would make it into a set.
@icey
In regard to your question about " rule against commercial-brand-builds"
this gets asked enough I have a posting on it here:

It's lame. It's a grey box full of minifigs. However, with an Apple logo on it they could sell the set for twice as much without any perceived benefit - just like a real Apple ;-)
@evansciver - What in the world Apple store are you going to that smells like feet??
@glenbricker Thanks alot! Makes sense!
I've gotta agree with mr_skinny, I'm kinda surprised a plain grey box with a shape in the side of it has gotten so much support...
Remove the logo and this entry would have no more than 100 votes. It's blocky, lacks color and just boring. The garage on the other hand is awesome.
I don't say I hate to see an Apple Store, but I personally don't think this building is amazing enough to be a product. If this project doesn't pass, hope that there could be a better Apple store model.
This is just plain stupid. It's a boring gray box with a logo, it'll be like the android thing, denied and forgotten.
I hate projects that are boring and make it because they use a famous icon or logo.
not my cup of tea.
No positive comments here. Glad I'm not alone. This set would be pants. I wonder if there has been some block voting by Apple enthusiasts. Hope Lego throw it out with a WTF.
Congrats on reaching 10k. sadly I am of the thought that this one will be kind of unlikely for final production. And here's the problem. The very nature of Apple sort of works against it. The branding is not in and of itself an issue, as Glenbricker says. But the problem is if you take the branding out of it, Apples very clean plain aesthetic makes it very very boring or at the least uninteresting as a Lego set, or rather as a Lego build. There is no architecture to it. Its a grey and trans clear box. There are very few interior details because that is the Apple corporate aesthetic. Very plain bare clean. It's just something that doesn't translate well to a fun building experience. Heck this problem is pretty specific to Apple. Many other branded structures would translate well into Lego building sets with a bit of interest. Just think of the distinctive looks and complicated lines of most fast food places.
