Random minifig of the day: js027
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is js027 Crewman with Dark Turquoise Vest and Pants, Red Arms, a For Juniors figure that was first produced during 2002. It can be found in 3 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 3,270 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $1.90.

Still better than Bionicle
well that’s certainly a fashion statement
I hate these minifigures. They look nothing like Lego.
Shades won't help you be cool.
Coming only two days after scaFemA01, this guy looks pretty good--and by the standards of his much-maligned genus, he's pretty cool-looking. I'll admit I'm sucker for any fig in teal.
We've seen Belville, Scala, and now Jack Stone in this feature. Huwbot, if you're going to give us figures of a style that aren't made anymore, how about some Fabuland or Technic figs?
@legodachi: You're entitled to your opinion, but at least Bionicle figures (with the exception of those from the 2004 playsets) were designed to be taken apart.

is this really necessary?
bionicle is way better than this without a doubt, saying this just feels mean for no real reason other than to start an argument.
funny timing actually, I just watched the jack stone mini movie. it was very weird.

Again what do you have against Bionicle? I get that you’re entitled to your own opinion but as @billbuilds said it’s like you’re saying that just to start an argument.
Even as someone who grew up around Ordeal of Fire Hero Factory and Ninjago, Bionicle is still one of the coolest Lego themes ever.
“I bet you didn’t recognise me with my [two] red arm[s].”
Well. At least he's wearing clothes?
“Mom, can we buy a LEGO minifigure?”
“We have a LEGO minifigure at home.”

Best. Figure. Ever.
I own one of these.
I can't think of anything witty to say about him.
Sorry.
Wow. Both arms have been degloved, all the way to the shoulder. Looks painful.
Not much better than the Scala doll from a few days back.
I hope good comments here as well.

Seems to work for Octan but that’s the classic space logo on his hat, so I’m calling shenanigans. Think we might have a time traveler on our hands here gang

I should own 2 last seen 8 ago
I do like it that there are figures in different sizes, to scale with all kinds of builds.
Btw, it looks like some kind of space logo on his cap.

I was todays years old when I learned that logo is there.
Right now I also for the first time notice those moulded sneakers. They look so cursed!
Also: teal! (Dark Turquoise)! Before it was resurrected and then overused to the point of being a go-to filler color for some reason.
If you don’t innovate you stagnate - as much as these are a design cul-du-sac for Lego they will still have had an influence on what came later. As for Bionicle I wouldn’t be surprised if a system revival set using minifigures and specialised helmets/heads would do well.

I imagine that’s going to be the same for a lot of people; can’t imagine this guy was much looked at before RMotD brought him up
I dunno, I actually appreciate the Jack Stone/4+ figures. As the name says, they are for smaller children and since they're big and can't be taken apart (well, at least not without some serious brute force), so they're pretty safe to play under those terms. I would call it a solid balance between Duplo Figures and Minifigures.
They have a different style and I respect it, even if they give a lot of people Minifigure-Uncanny-Valley.

I love these minifigures, and the variety of things which are all Lego.
Proportions are more realistic, so bildings to fit them can be, too.

No way. Even me, who thinks Bionicle is the most overrated LEGO theme up until Ninjago, has to agree that even Bionicle is better than this Jack Stone garbage.

Now, @legodachi , confess!
I still think it would be cool to use these non-minifigure minifigures as alien Green Lanterns or aliens/creatures/monsters in some other standard minifirure theme.
Still better than the Friends mini-dolls and better proportioned humanoids.
Did these Jack Stone type figs have anything in common with the Technic ones? The head looks like it might be similar.

This is a site for LEGO toys, you'll have to excuse the presence of children.

No the Jack Stone figures were about 1 brick taller than a regular Minifigure.
The Technic ones are about 3-4 times taller than a regular Minifigure, their heads are WAY bigger than the Jack Stone ones. But I get where the thought comes from, they had more facial details like a nose and ears as well.
It's just very rough estimates, but I hope you get the idea.
I really hope that Lego will reintroduce the Technic Figures one day. They were amazing, so many posability uh... possibilities! Just imagine an Iron Man in a Technic Hulkbuster (you have to stay true to the tradition) or Batman (the latest Batcycle would be way more interesting with such a figure, at least for me) in this format, in my case it would be a day 1 purchase!
Edit: This guy does look lot like our infamous Jack Stone, doesn't he?

@Ridgeheart: Not saying I disagree, but they weren't *designed* for that.
@Murdoch17: How was I the first one to upvote your comment? Looks like some Bricksetters deserve... The Rack! (Just need to make sure it's the right one.)

They’re both made of plastic, and probably have the LEGO logo molded into at least one surface. They’re also not designed to be disassembled.
